< Engero 21 >
1 Omutima gwa kabaka guli ng’amazzi agakulukutira mu mukono gwa Mukama, era agukyusiza gy’ayagala yonna.
[Like] channels of water, is the heart of a king, in the hand of Yahweh, —whithersoever he will, he turneth it.
2 Buli kkubo lya muntu liba ng’ettuufu mu maaso ge, naye Mukama apima omutima.
Every way of a man, may be right in his own eyes, but, he that testeth hearts, is Yahweh.
3 Okukola ebituufu n’eby’amazima kisanyusa Mukama okusinga ssaddaaka.
To do righteousness and justice, is more choice to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4 Amaaso ageegulumiza, n’omutima ogw’amalala, ye ttabaaza y’ababi, era ebyo kwonoona.
Loftiness of eyes, and ambition of heart—the lamp of the lawless, are sin.
5 Enteekateeka z’omunyiikivu zivaamu magoba meereere, naye okwanguyiriza okutalina nteekateeka kuvaamu bwavu.
The plans of the diligent, tend only to abundance, but, of every one that is urgent, only to want.
6 Okufuna obugagga n’olulimi olulimba, mpewo buwewo etwalibwa eruuyi n’eruuyi era mutego gwa kufa.
The gaining of treasures with a tongue of falsehood, is a vapour driven away, [they who seek them] seek death,
7 Obukambwe bw’ababi bulibamalawo, kubanga bagaana okukola eby’ensonga.
The violence of the lawless, shall drag them away, —because they have refused to do justice.
8 Ekkubo ly’abazza emisango liba kyamu, naye ery’abataliiko musango liba golokofu.
Crooked is the way of a guilty man, but, as for the pure, straight is his dealing.
9 Okusula ku kasolya k’ennyumba, kisinga okubeera mu nnyumba n’omukazi omuyombi.
Better to dwell on the corner of the roof, than a quarrelsome wife, and a house in common.
10 Emmeeme y’omubi yeegomba okukola ebibi; talaga muliraanwa we kisa n’akatono.
The soul of the lawless man, craveth mischief, his own friend, findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 Omukudaazi bw’abonerezebwa, atalina magezi agafuna; n’ow’amagezi bw’ayigirizibwa afuna okutegeera.
When the scoffer is punished, the simple, becometh wise, when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 Katonda alaba ebifa mu nnyumba y’omubi, era abakozi b’ebibi abazikkiririza ddala.
The Righteous One observeth the house of the lawless, —He is ready to cast down lawless men into misfortune.
13 Oyo aziba amatu ge eri okulaajana kw’omwavu, naye alikoowoola nga talina amwanukula.
He that shutteth his ear from the cry of the poor, even he, shall call, and not be answered.
14 Ekirabo ekigabire mu kyama kikakkanya obusungu obungi, n’enguzi ebikiddwa mu munagiro eggyawo ekiruyi ekingi.
A gift in secret, quencheth anger, and, a present in the bosom, mighty wrath.
15 Ensonga bwe zisalibwa mu bwenkanya, lye ssanyu eri abatuukirivu, naye kiba kyekango eri abakozi b’ebibi.
It is a joy, to a righteous man, to do justice, but, dismay, to the workers of iniquity.
16 Omuntu awaba okuva mu kkubo ly’okutegeera, agukira mu bafu.
The man who wandereth from the way of discretion, in the gathered host of the shades, shall settle down.
17 Aganza eby’amasanyu anaabanga mwavu, n’oyo ayagala omwenge n’amafuta taligaggawala.
A needy man, shall he be that loveth merriment, the lover of wine and oil, shall not become rich.
18 Abakozi b’ebibi batuukibwako emitawaana egyandigudde ku balungi, n’ekyandituuse ku b’amazima kituuka ku batali beesigwa.
A ransom for the righteous, is the lawless, and, instead of upright men, the traitor.
19 Okubeera mu ddungu, kisinga okubeera n’omukazi omuyombi anyiiganyiiga.
Better to dwell in a desert land, than with a woman, quarrelsome and provoking.
20 Mu nnyumba y’omutuukirivu mubaamu eby’obugagga eby’omuwendo, naye omusirusiru ebibye byonna abyonoona.
Desirable treasure and oil, are in the home of the wise, but, a man who is a dullard, will destroy it.
21 Agoberera obutuukirivu n’ekisa, alibeera n’obulamu obukulaakulana n’ekitiibwa.
He that pursueth righteousness and lovingkindness, shall find life, righteousness and honour.
22 Omuntu ow’amagezi alumba ekibuga eky’abazira nnamige, era n’asesebbula enfo yaabwe gye beesiga.
A city of heroes, doth a wise man scale, and bringeth down the strength of its confidence.
23 Afuga akamwa ke n’olulimi lwe, yeewoonya emitawaana.
He that keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth, out of distresses, his soul.
24 “Mukudaazi,” lye linnya ly’ab’amalala abeeraga, abeetwalira mu kwemanya okw’ekitalo mwe batambulira.
A haughty insolent one—Scoffer is his name, is he that acteth in a transport of pride.
25 Okwetaaga kw’omugayaavu lwe luliba olumbe lwe, kubanga emikono gye tegyagala kukola.
The craving of the sluggard, killeth him, for his hands have refused to work.
26 Olunaku lwonna aba yeegomba kweyongezaako, naye omutuukirivu agaba awatali kwebalira.
All the day, he greatly craveth, whereas, the righteous, giveth, and doth not spare.
27 Ssaddaaka y’omubi ya muzizo, na ddala bw’agireeta ng’alina ekigendererwa ekitali kirungi.
The sacrifice of the lawless, is an abomination, how much more, when, with wickedness, he bringeth it in!
28 Omujulizi ow’obulimba alizikirira, naye ekigambo ky’oyo ayogera eby’amazima kiribeerera emirembe gyonna.
A false witness, shall perish, but, the man who hearkeneth, with abiding effect, shall speak.
29 Omuntu omubi yeekazaakaza, naye omuntu ow’amazima yeegendereza amakubo ge.
A lawless man emboldeneth his face, but, as for the upright, he, directeth his ways.
30 Tewali magezi, newaakubadde okutegeera, wadde ebiteeso ebiyinza okulemesa Mukama.
There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel, to confront Yahweh.
31 Embalaasi etegekerwa olunaku olw’olutalo, naye obuwanguzi buva eri Mukama.
The horse, is prepared for the day of battle, but, to Yahweh, pertaineth the victory.
