< Engero 16 >

1 Omuntu ateekateeka by’ayagala okukola mu mutima gwe, Naye okuddamu kuva eri Mukama.
The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
2 Amakubo g’omuntu gonna gaba matuufu mu maaso ge ye, naye Mukama y’apima ebigendererwa.
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weights the spirits.
3 Emirimu gyo gyonna gikwasenga Mukama, naye anaatuukirizanga entegeka zo.
Commit your works unto the LORD, and your thoughts shall be established.
4 Mukama buli kimu akikola ng’alina ekigendererwa, n’abakozi b’ebibi y’abakolera olunaku lwe batuukibwako ebizibu.
The LORD has made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Buli muntu alina omutima ogw’amalala wa muzizo eri Mukama; weewaawo talirema kubonerezebwa.
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
6 Olw’okwagala n’olw’obwesigwa, ekibi kisasulibwa, n’okutya Mukama kuleetera omuntu okwewala okukola ebibi.
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
7 Amakubo g’omuntu bwe gaba gasanyusa Mukama, aleetera abalabe b’omuntu oyo okubeera naye mu mirembe.
When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Akatono akafune mu butuukirivu, kasinga obugagga obungi obufune mu bukyamu.
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
9 Omutima gw’omuntu guteekateeka ekkubo lye, naye Mukama y’aluŋŋamya bw’anaatambula.
A man's heart devises his way: but the LORD directs his steps.
10 Kabaka ky’ayogera kiba ng’ekiva eri Katonda, n’akamwa ke tekasaanye kwogera bitali bya bwenkanya.
A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth trangresses not in judgment.
11 Ebipimo ne minzaani ebituufu bya Mukama, ebipimo byonna ebikozesebwa y’abikola.
A just weight and balance are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work.
12 Kya muzizo bakabaka okukola ebibi, kubanga entebe ye ey’obwakabaka enywezebwa butuukirivu.
It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Akamwa akogera eby’amazima bakabaka ke basanyukira, era baagala oyo ayogera amazima.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaks right.
14 Obusungu bwa kabaka buli ng’ababaka abaleese okufa, omusajja ow’amagezi alibukkakkanya.
The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
15 Kabaka bw’asanyuka kireeta obulamu; n’okuganza kwe, kuli nga ekire eky’enkuba mu biseera ebya ttoggo.
In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 Okufuna amagezi nga kusinga nnyo okufuna zaabu, era n’okufuna okutegeera kikira ffeeza!
How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
17 Ekkubo ly’abagolokofu kwe kwewala ebibi, n’oyo eyeekuuma mu kutambula kwe, awonya emmeeme ye.
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keeps his way perserves his soul.
18 Amalala gakulembera okuzikirira, n’omwoyo ogwegulumiza gukulembera ekigwo.
Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Okubeera n’omwoyo ogwetoowaza era n’okubeera n’abaavu, kisinga okugabana omunyago n’ab’amalala.
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 Oyo assaayo omwoyo ku kuyigirizibwa alikulaakulana, era alina omukisa oyo eyeesiga Mukama.
He that handles a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusts in the LORD, happy is he.
21 Abalina emitima egy’amagezi baliyitibwa bategeevu, n’enjogera ennungi eyongera okuyamba okutegeera.
The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.
22 Amagezi nsulo ya bulamu eri oyo agalina, naye obusirusiru buleetera abasirusiru okubonerezebwa.
Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that has it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
23 Omutima gw’omuntu ow’amagezi gumuwa enjogera ennungi, era akamwa ke kayigiriza abalala.
The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
24 Ebigambo ebirungi biri ng’ebisenge by’omubisi gw’enjuki, biwoomera emmeeme, ne biwonya n’amagumba.
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 Wabaawo ekkubo erirabika ng’ettuufu eri omuntu, naye ku nkomerero limutuusa mu kufa.
There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
26 Okwagala okulya kuleetera omuntu okukola n’amaanyi, kubanga enjala emukubiriza okweyongera okukola.
He that labours labours for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.
27 Omuntu omusirusiru ategeka okukola ebitali bya butuukirivu, era n’ebigambo bye, biri ng’omuliro ogwokya ennyo.
An ungodly man digs up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
28 Omuntu omubambaavu asiikuula entalo, n’ow’olugambo ayawukanya ab’omukwano enfirabulago.
A perverse man sows strife: and a whisperer separates chief friends.
29 Omuntu omukyamu asendasenda muliraanwa we n’amutwala mu kkubo eritali ttuufu.
A violent man entices his neighbour, and leads him into the way that is not good.
30 Omuntu atemya ku liiso ateekateeka kwonoona, n’oyo asongoza emimwa ategeka kukola bitali birungi.
He shuts his eyes to devise perverse things: moving his lips he brings evil to pass.
31 Omutwe ogw’envi ngule ya kitiibwa, gufunibwa abo abatambulira mu bulamu obutuukirivu.
The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
32 Omuntu omugumiikiriza asinga omutabaazi, n’oyo afuga obusungu bwe akira awamba ekibuga.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.
33 Akalulu kayinza okukubibwa, naye okusalawo kwa byonna kuva eri Mukama.
The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
