< Matayo 9 >
1 Awo Yesu n’asaabala mu lyato n’awunguka n’atuuka mu kibuga ky’ewaabwe, Kaperunawumu.
So he went on board, crossed the sea, and came to his own city.
2 Amangwago ne bamuleetera omuntu eyali akoozimbye nga bamusitulidde ku katanda. Bwe yalaba okukkiriza kwabwe n’agamba omulwadde nti, “Mwana wange, guma omwoyo, nkusonyiye ebibi byo!”
And here they brought to him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Courage, son, your sins are forgiven."
3 Naye waaliwo abamu ku bannyonnyozi b’amateeka ne boogeraganya bokka na bokka nti, “Omuntu ono avvoola! Alowooza nti Ye Katonda!”
And behold! certain scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming."
4 Yesu n’amanya bye balowooza. N’abagamba nti, “Lwaki mubeera n’ebirowoozo ebibi mu mitima gyammwe?
And because Jesus knew well their thought, he said.
5 Ekyo buli muntu ayinza okukyogera, kubanga kwogera bwogezi.
"Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say’Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?
6 Naye mutegeere nga Omwana w’Omuntu alina obuyinza ku nsi okusonyiwa ebibi.” Awo n’agamba akoozimbye nti, “Yimirira weetikke akatanda ko, weddireyo ewammwe!”
"But that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins"- he then says to the paralytic, "Rise, take up your bed, and go to your home."
7 N’ayimirira ng’awonye, ne yeddirayo eka.
And he rose and went to his home.
8 Naye abantu abaali mu bibiina bwe baalaba ekyamagero kino ne beewuunya nnyo! Ne bagulumiza Katonda eyawa abantu obuyinza obwenkaniddaawo!
But all the crowd were awestruck, and glorified God, who had given such power to men.
9 Awo Yesu bwe yava mu kifo ekyo n’alaba omuntu, erinnya lye Matayo, ng’atudde mu kifo we basolooleza omusolo, n’amugamba nti, “Ngoberera.” Bw’atyo naye n’asitukiramu n’agoberera Yesu.
As Jesus was passing thence, he saw a man called Mathew sitting at the tax-office, and said to him, "Follow me."
10 Awo Yesu bwe yali ng’atudde ku mmere mu nnyumba ya Matayo, abawooza bangi n’abantu abaali bamanyiddwa mu kitundu ekyo nti babi ne bajja ne batuula naye n’abayigirizwa be ku mmere ne balya.
And he rose and followed him. And while he was at table in Matthew’s house, there came many tax-gatherers and sinners, and they dined with Jesus and his disciples.
11 Naye Abafalisaayo bwe baakiraba, ne bagamba abayigirizwa be nti, “Lwaki Mukama wammwe alya n’abawooza n’abantu abalina ebibi?”
When the Pharisees saw it, they kept saying to his disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with the tax-gatherers and sinners?"
12 Yesu bwe yawulira n’abaddamu nti, “Abalamu tebeetaaga musawo wabula abalwadde.
"It is not those who are well," said Jesus, when he heard this, "but the sick, who need a doctor.
13 Mugende muyige amakulu g’Ekyawandiikibwa kino nti, ‘Ssaddaaka zammwe n’ebirabo byammwe si bye neetaaga, wabula neetaaga mubeerenga ba kisa.’ Najjirira kuyita boonoonyi, so sajjirira abo abeerowooza nti batuukirivu.”
"But go and learn what this means, "It is mercy I desire, and not sacrifice; for I am come not to call just men, but sinners."
14 Lwali lumu abayigirizwa ba Yokaana ne bajja eri Yesu ne bamubuuza nti, “Lwaki abayigirizwa bo tebasiiba nga ffe n’Abafalisaayo bwe tukola?”
At that time the disciples of Johncame and asked him, "Why are we and the Pharisees always fasting, while your disciples are not?"
15 Yesu n’ababuuza nti, “Mikwano gy’omugole bayinza okunakuwala ng’omugole akyali nabo? Naye ekiseera kirituuka omugole lwalibaggibwako. Olwo nno balisiiba.
"Can the friends fast at a wedding-feast," said Jesus, "so long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom has been taken from them, and then they will fast.
16 “Tewali muntu atunga kiwero kiggya mu lugoye lukadde, kubanga, ekiwero bwe kyetugga kiyuza olugoye olukadde, n’ekituli ne kigaziwa.
"No one ever sews a piece of undressed cloth on an old cloak. If they did, the patch put on to fill it up would tear away from the cloak, and the rent be made worse.
17 Era tewali ateeka wayini musu mu nsawo ez’amaliba enkadde. Ensawoenkadde zaabika wayini n’ayiika n’ensawo ne zoonooneka. Wayini omusu bamuteeka mu nsawo z’amaliba maggya, byombi ne bitayonooneka.”
"Nor do they put new wine into old wine-skins; if they did, the wine- skins would split, the wine would run out, and the skins be ruined. Instead, they put new wine into fresh wine-skins and both are preserved."
18 Bwe yali ng’akyayogera nabo omufuzi n’ajja, n’amusinza n’amugamba nti, “Omwana wange omuwala anfuddeko, naye singa ojja n’omukwatako anaalamuka.”
As he was saying these words to them, a ruler came up and knelt before him, saying. "My daughter has just died; but come, put your hand upon her, and she will live."
19 Yesu bwe yasituka n’abayigirizwa be okugenda mu maka g’omukulu w’ekkuŋŋaaniro,
And Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20 omukazi eyali alwadde ekikulukuto ky’omusaayi, okumala emyaka kkumi n’ebiri, n’ajja emabega we n’akoma ku lukugiro lw’ekyambalo kye.
But a woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him, and touched the tassel of his cloak.
21 Kubanga y’agamba mu mutima gwe nti, “Ne bwe nnaakoma obukomi ku kyambalo kye nnaawona.”
For she said to herself, "If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured."
22 Yesu n’akyuka n’alaba omukazi n’amugamba nti, “Muwala, guma omwoyo! Owonye olw’okukkiriza kwo.” Omukazi n’awonera mu kiseera ekyo.
But Jesus turned and saw her and said, "Be of good courage, daughter, your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that hour.
23 Awo Yesu bwe yatuuka mu maka g’omufuzi n’asanga abafuuyi b’amakondeere n’ekibiina nga kijagaladde,
Now when Jesus had come into the house of the ruler, and had seen the flute-players and the wailing crowd, he said,
24 n’agamba nti, “Mufulume kubanga omuwala tafudde wabula yeebase bwebasi.” Bonna ne bamusekerera nga bwe beesooza.
"Leave the room, for the little girl is not dead, she is sleeping." And they began laughing at him.
25 Naye abantu bwe bamala okufuluma, Yesu n’ayingira, n’akwata omukono gw’omuwala, n’agolokosa omuwala.
When, however, the crowd had been driven out, he went in and took her hand, and the little girl woke up.
26 Ebigambo ebyo ne bibuna mu kitundu ekyo kyonna.
And the report of this spread throughout that whole region.
27 Awo Yesu bwe yava eyo, abazibe b’amaaso babiri ne bamugoberera nga bwe baleekaana nti, “Ayi Omwana wa Dawudi, otusaasire!”
And as he went on from thence two blind men followed Jesus, crying, "Have pity on us, Son of David!"
28 Bwe yatuuka mu nju, bamuzibe ne bajja w’ali. Yesu n’ababuuza nti, “Mukkiriza nga nnyinza okubazibula amaaso?” Ne bamuddamu nti, “Weewaawo, Mukama waffe.”
And when he had gone indoors, they came to him. "Do you believe that I can do this?" asked Jesus. "Yes, Lord," they answered.
29 Awo n’akoma ku maaso gaabwe n’abagamba nti, “Kale, olw’okukkiriza kwammwe, kye musabye mukiweereddwa.”
Then he touched their eyes, saying "According to your faith be it unto you," and their eyes were opened.
30 Amangwago amaaso gaabwe ne gazibuka. Yesu n’abakuutira nnyo baleme kubuulirako muntu yenna ng’abagamba nti, “Mulabe nga tewaba n’omu ategeera bibaddewo.”
Jesus charged them sternly, saying, "See to it that you let no one know."
31 Naye bwe baava awo, ne bagenda nga basaasaanya ebigambo ebyo, nga babuulira buli muntu gwe baasisinkananga mu kitundu ekyo.
But they went and published his fame in that whole region.
32 Awo Yesu ne be yali nabo, bwe baali bafuluma ne bamuleetera kiggala eyali tayogera kubanga yaliko dayimooni.
And as they were departing a dumb demoniac was brought to him,
33 Yesu n’amugobako dayimooni, era amangwago abadde kiggala n’ayogera. Ekibiina ky’abantu ne beewuunya nnyo nga bagamba nti, “Kino tekibangawo mu Isirayiri.”
and when he had driven out the demon, the dumb spoke. The crowds were amazed, saying, "Never was such a thing seen in Israel!"
34 Naye Abafalisaayo ne bagamba nti, “Agoba baddayimooni lwa kubanga ye mukulu wa baddayimooni!”
But the Pharisees kept saying, "It is in the power of the Prince of the demons that he is casting out demons."
35 Yesu n’agenda ng’ayita mu bibuga byonna eby’omu kitundu ekyo, ne mu byalo ng’ayigiriza mu makuŋŋaaniro gaabwe, era ng’abuulira Enjiri ey’obwakabaka. Era buli we yatuukanga n’awonya abalwadde n’abakoozimbye bonna.
And Jesus continued to go throughout all the cities and towns, teaching in the synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and infirmity.
36 Awo bwe yatunuulira ekibiina ky’abantu nga bajja gy’ali, nga bakooye nnyo, era nga basaasaanye ng’endiga ezitalina musumba, n’abasaasira nnyo.
And when he saw the crowds he had compassion on them because they were distressed and fainting, like sheep without a shepherd.
37 N’agamba abayigirizwa be nti, “Eby’okukungula bingi nnyo, naye abakozi abakungula batono.
And he said to his disciples. "The harvest is great, but the laborers are few;
38 Noolwekyo musabe nannyini nnimiro, aweereze abakozi mu nnimiro ye.”
"therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to thrust forth laborers into his harvest field."
