< Matayo 14 >
1 Mu kiseera ekyo Kabaka Kerode bwe yawulira ettutumu lya Yesu
At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the fame of Jesus,
2 n’agamba abaweereza be nti, “Oyo ye Yokaana Omubatiza azuukidde mu bafu, era y’akola eby’amagero.”
and said to his servants, This is John the baptist, he is certainly risen from the dead, and therefore miraculous things are done by him:
3 Kuba Kerode yali amaze okukwata Yokaana n’amussa mu kkomera, kubanga Yokaana yamunenya olwa Kerodiya muka Firipo muganda we,
for Herod had apprehended John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife;
4 kubanga Yokaana yagamba Kerode nti, “Si kituufu okusigula muka muganda wo n’omufuula owuwo.”
for John said to Him, It is not lawful for thee to have her: and he would have put him to death,
5 Kerode yali ayagala kumutta naye n’atya abantu kubanga baalowooza Yokaana okuba nnabbi.
but that he was afraid of the people; for they esteemed him as a prophet.
6 Olunaku lw’amazaalibwa ga Kerode bwe lwatuuka muwala wa Kerodiya n’azina nnyo ku mbaga n’asanyusa nnyo Kerode.
But when Herod's birth-day was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod, so
7 Awo Kerode n’asuubiza omuwala ng’alayira okumuwa kyonna ky’anaamusaba.
that he promised her with an oath to give her whatever she would ask:
8 Naye bwe yaweebwa nnyina amagezi, n’agamba nti, “Mpeera wano omutwe gwa Yokaana Omubatiza ku lusaniya.”
and she, being before instructed by her mother, said, Give me here in a dish the head of John the baptist:
9 Ekintu ekyo ne kinakuwaza nnyo kabaka. Naye olwokubanga yali yakisuubiza mu maaso g’abagenyi be, kyeyava alagira bagumuleetere.
at which the king was distressed, but because of his oath, and of those who sat at table with him, he ordered it to be given her;
10 Ne bagenda mu kkomera, ne batemako Yokaana omutwe
and he sent and beheaded John in the prison,
11 ne baguleetera ku lusaniya ne baguwa omuwala, naye n’agutwalira nnyina.
and his head was brought in a dish, and given to the young princess, who carried it to her mother:
12 Abayigirizwa ba Yokaana ne banonayo omulambo gwe ne bagutwala ne baguziika, ne balyoka bagenda ne babikira Yesu.
and his disciples came and took up the body and buried it, and then went and told Jesus.
13 Yesu bwe yabiwulira ebyo, n’asaabala mu lyato, n’abaako gy’alaga abeere yekka mu kyama. Naye abantu bangi nnyo bwe baakiwulira ne bava mu bibuga bingi, ne beekooloobya, ne bamugoberera nga bayita ku lukalu.
And when Jesus heard it, He departed from thence in a ship to a solitary place of retirement: but the people hearing where He was followed Him on foot from the cities:
14 Yesu bwe yava eyo n’alaba, abantu bangi n’abasaasira n’awonya abalwadde baabwe.
and when Jesus came out of the ship, He saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them; and He healed their sick.
15 Obudde bwe bwawungeera abayigirizwa be ne bajja gy’ali ne bamugamba nti, “Laba obudde buzibye ate tuli mu ddungu, ssiibula abantu bagende beegulire emmere mu bibuga.”
Now when it was evening his disciples came to Him and said, This is a desert place, and meal-time is now past; dismiss the people, that they may go away to the towns, and buy themselves victuals.
16 Naye Yesu n’abaddamu nti, “Tekyetaagisa kubasiibula, mmwe mubawe ekyokulya.”
But Jesus said to them, they have no need to go away, do ye give them something to eat.
17 Ne bamuddamu nti, “Ffe tetulina kyakulya kiyinza kubamala, wabula tulinawo emigaati etaano gyokka n’ebyennyanja bibiri.”
And they said, we have nothing here but five loaves and two fishes:
18 N’abagamba nti, “Kale mubindetere wano.”
and He said, bring them hither to me.
19 N’alagira ekibiina kituule wansi ku muddo, n’addira emigaati etaano n’ebyennyanja ebibiri, n’atunula waggulu ne yeebaza, emigaati n’agimenyaamenyamu n’agiwa abayigirizwa ne batandika okugabula ekibiina.
And having ordered the multitudes to sit down upon the grass, and taken the five loaves and the two fishes, He looked up to heaven and blessed them; and He brake the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the people: and they did all eat, and were satisfied;
20 Bonna ne balya ne bakkuta; obutundutundu obwafikkawo ne babukuŋŋaanya wamu ne bujjuza ebisero kkumi na bibiri!
and they took up what was left even of fragments twelve baskets full.
21 Abantu bonna abaalya baali ng’enkumi ttaano nga totaddeeko bakazi na baana.
Now they that had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 Amangwago Yesu n’alagira abayigirizwa be basaabale eryato bagende emitala w’ennyanja, ye asigale ng’akyasiibula abantu.
And presently after Jesus obliged the disciples to get into the ship, and to go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the multitudes:
23 Bwe yamala okusiibula ekibiina n’ayambuka ku lusozi yekka okusaba. Obudde ne buziba ng’ali eyo yekka.
and when He had dismissed them, He went up to a hill in private to pray.
24 Eryato abayigirizwa mwe baali bwe lyatuuka ebuziba, omuyaga mungi ne gubafuluma mu maaso eryato ne lyesunda.
And in the evening He was there alone. Now the ship was by this time in the midst of the sea, and violently tossed by the waves; for the wind was contrary:
25 Awo ku ssaawa nga mwenda ez’ekiro, Yesu n’ajja gye bali ng’atambula ku nnyanja.
but in the fourth watch of the night Jesus came to them walking on the sea:
26 Naye abayigirizwa bwe baamulaba ng’atambulira ku nnyanja ne batya, nga balowooza nti muzimu.
and when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were affrighted and said, It is an apparition;
27 Awo amangwago Yesu n’abagamba nti, “Mugume, Nze nzuuno temutya.”
and they cried out for fear: but Jesus immediately spake to them, saying, Take courage, it is I, be not afraid.
28 Peetero n’amugamba nti, “Obanga ye ggwe ddala Mukama waffe, ndagira nange nzije gy’oli nga ntambulira ku mazzi.”
Then Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be thou, command me to come unto thee upon the waters.
29 Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Kale jjangu.” Peetero n’ava mu lyato n’atambulira ku mazzi okugenda eri Yesu.
And He said, Come.
30 Naye Peetero bwe yalaba omuyaga ogw’amaanyi, n’atya n’atandika okusaanawo, n’akoowoola Yesu nti, “Mukama wange, ndokola!”
And Peter went down from the ship and walked upon the waters to go to Jesus: but seeing the wind boisterous, he was afraid, and beginning to sink cried out, Lord, save me.
31 Amangwago Yesu n’agolola omukono gwe n’amukwata, n’amugamba nti, “Ggwe alina okukkiriza okutono, lwaki obuusizzabuusizza?”
And Jesus, immediately stretching forth his hand, laid hold of him, and saith to him, O man of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 Bwe baalinnya mu lyato omuyaga gwonna ne guggwaawo.
So they got into the ship, and the wind ceased.
33 N’abo abaali mu lyato ne bamusinza nga bagamba nti, “Ddala ddala oli Mwana wa Katonda!”
Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped Him, saying, Thou art indeed the Son of God.
34 Bwe baasomoka ne bagukkira ku lukalu e Genesaleeti.
And they passed over and came into the country of Gennesaret.
35 Abantu b’omu kitundu ekyo bwe baamutegeera ne batumya abalwadde bonna ne babamuleetera.
And the men of that place getting knowledge of Him, sent into all that country about; and they brought to Him all that were ill;
36 Ne bamwegayirira waakiri bakomeko bukomi ku lukugiro lw’ekyambalo kye, era buli eyakomako n’awonyezebwa.
and intreated Him that they might but touch the border of his garment; and as many as touched Him were made perfectly well.
