< Makko 5 >

1 Awo Yesu n’abayigirizwa be ne batuuka emitala w’ennyanja mu nsi y’Abageresene.
And they came unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes.
2 Yesu bwe yali yaakava mu lyato omuntu eyaliko omwoyo omubi n’ajja gy’ali ng’ava mu malaalo.
And, when he went forth out of the boat, [straightway], there met him, from amongst the tombs, a man, in an impure spirit:
3 Omuntu ono yasulanga mu malaalo era yali alaluse nnyo nga tewakyali na muntu asobola kumusiba.
who had his dwelling among the tombs, and, not even with a chain, any longer, was anyone able to bind him, —
4 Emirundi mingi baagezangako okumussa ku mpingu n’okusiba amagulu ge n’enjegere naye byonna ng’abikutulakutula. Ne wataba na muntu w’amaanyi ayinza kumusiba kumunyweza.
because of his having been, many times, with fetters and chains, bound, and the chains having been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters smashed, and no one was mighty enough to tame him;
5 Naye bulijjo yatambulanga emisana n’ekiro mu malaalo ne mu nsozi. Yawowoggananga nga bw’akaaba era nga bwe yeesalaasala n’amayinja.
and, continually, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, was he crying aloud, and cutting himself in pieces with stones.
6 Awo bwe yalengera Yesu ng’akyali walako ku nnyanja n’adduka n’agenda eryato we lyagoba, n’asinza Yesu.
And, seeing Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed down to him;
7 N’aleekaana nnyo nti, “Onjagaza ki, ggwe Yesu, Omwana wa Katonda, Ali Waggulu Ennyo? Nkwegayirira, olw’ekisa kya Katonda, tombonyaabonya.”
and, crying out with a loud voice, saith—What have in common with thee? O Jesus, Son of God Most High? I adjure thee by God, —Do not torment me!
8 Kubanga Yesu yali alagidde omwoyo omubi okuva ku musajja.
For he was saying to him—Go forth thou impure spirit, out of the man;
9 Awo Yesu n’amubuuza nti, “Erinnya lyo ggw’ani?” N’addamu nti, “Erinnya lyange nze Ligyoni, kubanga tuli bangi.”
and he was questioning him—What is thy name? and he saith to him—Legion, is my name, because we are, many;
10 N’amwegayirira nnyo aleme okumugoba mu kitundu ekyo.
and he was beseeching him much that he would not send them forth outside the country.
11 Awo waaliwo eggana ly’embizzi nnyingi nnyo ku lusozi nga zirya.
Now there was there, near the mountain, a large herd of swine, feeding;
12 Omwoyo omubi ne gwegayirira Yesu nti, “Tusindike mu mbizzi ziri.”
and they besought him, saying—Send us into the swine, that, into them, we may enter;
13 Yesu n’abakkiriza, ne bava ku musajja ne bayingira mu ggana ly’embizzi. Awo eggana ly’embizzi lyonna ne liserengetera ku kagulungujjo ne lyeyiwa mu nnyanja, embizzi zonna ne zisaanawo.
and he suffered them. And the impure spirits, going out, entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the cliff into the sea, about two thousand, and were choked in the sea.
14 Awo abaali bazirunda ne badduka mangu ne bagenda bategeeze ab’omu kibuga ne mu byalo ebiriraanyeewo. Abantu bangi ne bajja okulaba ebibaddewo.
And, they who had been feeding them, fled, and bare tidings into the city and into the fields, —and they came to see what it was that had happened.
15 Ekibiina ky’abantu ne kikuŋŋaana awali Yesu, naye bwe baalaba omusajja eyaliko ligyoni ng’ayambadde bulungi era ng’ategeera bulungi, ne batya nnyo.
And they come unto Jesus, and view the demonized man, clothed and of sound mind, him who had had the legion, —and they were struck with fear.
16 Abo abaaliwo ne babategeeza ebyatuuka ku musajja eyaliko ddayimooni n’ebyatuuka ku mbizzi.
And the beholders narrated to them, how it happened to the demonized man, and concerning the swine.
17 Awo abantu ne batandika okwegayirira Yesu abaviire!
And they began to beseech him, to depart from their bounds.
18 Yesu bwe yali ng’alinnya mu lyato, omusajja eyali abaddeko baddayimooni n’amwegayirira bagende bonna.
And, as he was entering into the boat, he who had been demonized was beseeching him, that, with him, he might be.
19 Yesu n’atakkiriza, n’amugamba nti, “Ddayo ewammwe mu bantu bo obabuulire ebintu byonna Mukama by’akukoledde era nga bw’akusaasidde.”
And he suffered him not, but saith unto him—Withdraw into thy house, unto thine own, and bear tidings unto them, how many things the Lord for thee hath done, and hath had mercy on thee.
20 Awo omusajja oyo n’agenda ng’atambula mu Dekapoli (ebibuga eby’omu kitundu ekyo) ng’abuulira abantu Katonda bye yali amukoledde byonna. Bonna abaabiwulira ne bawuniikirira nnyo.
And he departed, and began proclaiming, in the Decapolis, how many things Jesus had done for him, —and, all, were marvelling.
21 Awo Yesu n’awunguka mu lyato nate n’atuuka emitala w’ennyanja. Abantu bangi ne bakuŋŋaanira w’ali ku lubalama lw’ennyanja.
And, Jesus crossing over in the boat again unto the other side, there was gathered a large multitude unto him, and he was by the lake.
22 Omukulu w’ekkuŋŋaaniro erinnya lye Yayiro n’ajja n’agwa w’ali,
And there cometh one of the synagogue-rulers, by name Jairus, and, seeing him, falleth at his feet,
23 n’amwegayirira nnyo ng’agamba nti, “Muwala wange abulako katono okufa. Nkwegayiridde jjangu omukwateko omuwonye.”
and beseecheth him much, saying—My little daughter is at her last!—that, coming, thou wouldest lay thy hands upon her, that she may be made well, and live;
24 Awo Yesu n’agenda naye n’ekibiina ky’abantu kinene ne kimugoberera nga bagenda bamunyigiriza.
and he departed with him. And there was following him a large multitude, and they were pressing upon him.
25 Mu kibiina omwo mwalimu omukazi eyali amaze emyaka kkumi n’ebiri nga mulwadde ekikulukuto ky’omusaayi.
And, a woman, who had had a flow of blood twelve years,
26 Yali yeewuubye mu basawo bangi abaamujanjabanga okumala emyaka egyo gyonna; ne byonna bye yalina nga bimuweddeko, obulwadde ne butawona wabula okweyongera obweyongezi.
and suffered much from many physicians, and spent all her means, and profited, nothing, —but had, rather, become worse,
27 Yali awulidde ebikwata ku Yesu. Bw’atyo n’ajja nga yeenyigiriza mu kibiina ky’abantu n’atuuka emabega wa Yesu, n’akoma ku kyambalo kye.
hearing the things about Jesus, came in the crowd from behind, and touched his mantle;
28 Kubanga yagamba mu mutima gwe nti, “Ne bwe nnaakoma obukomi ku kyambalo kye nzija kuwona.”
for she was saying—If I can touch so much as his mantle, I shall be made well;
29 Awo olwakikomako, amangwago ekikulukuto ky’omusaayi ne kikalira n’ategeerera ddala ng’awonye.
and, straightway, the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she knew, in her body, that she was healed from the plague.
30 Amangwago Yesu n’awulira ng’amaanyi agamuvuddemu, n’akyukira ekibiina ky’abantu n’abuuza nti, “Ani akutte ku kyambalo kyange?”
And, straightway, Jesus, taking note in himself of the power which, out of him, went forth, turning round in the crowd, was saying—Who hath touched my garments?
31 Naye abayigirizwa be ne bamuddamu nti, “Ku bantu abangi bati abakunyigiriza oyinza otya okubuuza nti, ‘Ani ankutteko?’”
and his disciples were saying to him—Thou seest the crowd pressing upon thee, —and sayest thou—Who hath touched me?
32 Naye Yesu ne yeetoolooza amaaso ge mu bonna alabe oyo amukutteko.
and he was looking round to see her who, this thing had done.
33 Awo omukazi bwe yategeera ekituuseewo n’ajja eri Yesu ng’atidde nnyo era ng’akankana, n’agwa awo mu maaso ga Yesu n’amutegeeza amazima gonna.
And, the woman, overcome with fear, and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came, and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 Yesu n’agamba omukazi nti, “Omuwala, okukkiriza kwo kukuwonyezza, genda mirembe obulwadde bwo buwonedde ddala.”
And, he, said to her—Daughter! thy faith hath made thee well; withdraw into peace, and be whole from thy plague.
35 Naye yali akyayogera n’omukazi ababaka ne batuuka nga bava mu maka g’omukulu w’ekuŋŋaaniro, ne babikira Yayiro nti, “Omuwala afudde, noolwekyo tekikyetaagisa kuteganya Muyigiriza.”
While yet he is speaking, they come from the synagogue-ruler’s, saying—Thy daughter, is dead! Why, further, annoy the teacher?
36 Yesu n’awulira ebigambo ebyayogerwa wabula n’agamba omukulu w’ekkuŋŋaaniro nti, “Totya, ggwe kkiriza bukkiriza.”
But, Jesus, overhearing the word being spoken, saith unto the synagogue-ruler—Do not fear, only have faith!
37 Awo Yesu n’aziyiza ekibiina kyonna okugenda naye, okuggyako Peetero ne Yakobo ne Yokaana muganda wa Yakobo.
And he suffered no one to follow with him, save Peter and James and John the brother of James.
38 Bwe baatuuka mu nju y’omukulu w’ekkuŋŋaaniro, n’alaba okwaziirana ng’abantu bakaaba nga bakuba ebiwoobe.
And they come into the house of the synagogue-ruler, and he observeth a tumult, and persons weeping and wailing greatly;
39 Bwe yayingira mu nju n’agamba abantu nti, “Mwaziiranira ki n’okukuba ebiwoobe? Omwana tafudde naye yeebase bwebasi!”
and, entering, he saith unto them—Why are ye making a tumult, and weeping? The child, is, not dead, but, is sleeping;
40 Awo abantu bonna ne bamusekerera nnyo. Naye n’abagamba bonna bafulume mu nju. N’atwala abazadde b’omwana n’abayigirizwa be abasatu n’ayingira nabo mu kisenge omwana mwe yali.
and they were deriding him. But, he, thrusting all forth, taketh with him the father of the child, and the mother, and them who were with him, —and entereth where the child was;
41 Yesu n’akwata omwana ku mukono n’amugamba nti, “Talisa kumi!” amakulu nti, “Omuwala golokoka!”
and, grasping the hand of the child, he saith unto her—Talitha, koum! which is, when translated—O damsel! to thee, I say, Arise!
42 Amangwago omuwala eyali aweza emyaka kkumi n’ebiri, n’ayimirira n’atambulatambula. Abaaliwo ne bawuniikirira nnyo.
And, straightway, the damsel arose, and was walking about; for she was twelve years of age. And they were beside themselves, straightway, with a great transport;
43 Naye Yesu n’abakuutira nnyo baleme okubuulirako omuntu yenna. Awo n’abalagira bawe omwana ekyokulya.
and he commanded them, again and again, that, no one, should get to know this thing, —and bade that food should be given her to eat.
