1 Entandikwa y’Enjiri ya Yesu Kristo, Omwana wa Katonda.
The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ the Son of God.
2 Kyawandiikibwa mu kitabo kya nnabbi Isaaya nti, “Laba ntuma omubaka wange akukulembere, ateeketeeke ekkubo lyo;
As it is written in Isaiah the Prophet, "See, I am sending My messenger before Thee, Who will prepare Thy way";
3 eddoboozi ly’oyo ayogelera waggulu mu ddungu nti, ‘Muteeketeeke ekkubo lya Mukama, mutereeze amakubo ge.’”
"The voice of one crying aloud: 'In the Desert prepare a road for the Lord: Make His highways straight.'"
4 Yokaana yajja ng’abatiriza mu ddungu, ng’abuulira okubatiza okw’okwenenya olw’okusonyiyibwa ebibi.
So John the Baptizer came, and was in the Desert proclaiming a baptism of the penitent for forgiveness of sins.
5 Ensi yonna ey’e Buyudaaya n’abantu bonna ab’omu Yerusaalemi, ne bagendanga gy’ali, n’ababatiza mu mugga Yoludaani nga baatula ebibi byabwe.
There went out to him people of all classes from Judaea, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem of all ranks, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, making open confession of their sins.
6 Yokaana yayambalanga ekyambalo eky’obwoya bw’eŋŋamira, ne yeesibanga olukoba olw’eddiba mu kiwato kye, era yalyanga nzige na mubisi gwa njuki.
As for John, his garment was of camel's hair, and he wore a loincloth of leather; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
7 Yabuuliranga ng’agamba nti, “Waliwo omuntu omukulu era ansinga amaanyi ajja okujja, gwe sisaanira na kusumulula bukoba bwa ngatto ze.
His announcement was, "There is One coming after me mightier than I--One whose sandal-strap I am unworthy to stoop down and unfasten.
8 Nze mbabatiza na mazzi, naye ye alibabatiza na Mwoyo Mutukuvu.”
I have baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
9 Awo olwatuuka mu nnaku ezo Yesu n’ava e Nazaaleesi mu Ggaliraaya n’ajja, Yokaana n’amubatiza mu mugga Yoludaani.
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan;
10 Awo Yesu bwe yali yaakava mu mazzi, n’alaba eggulu nga libikkuse, ne Mwoyo ng’ali ng’ejjiba ng’amukkako.
and immediately on His coming up out of the water He saw an opening in the sky, and the Spirit like a dove coming down to Him;
11 Eddoboozi ne liva mu ggulu nga ligamba nti, “Ggwe Mwana wange omwagalwa, ggwe, gwe nsanyukira ennyo.”
and a voice came from the sky, saying, "Thou art My Son dearly loved: in Thee is My delight."
12 Amangwago Mwoyo n’amutwala mu ddungu.
At once the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the Desert,
13 N’amalayo ennaku amakumi ana ng’ali n’ensolo ez’omu nsiko, ng’akemebwa Setaani, kyokka nga bamalayika bamuweereza.
where He remained for forty days, tempted by Satan; and He was among the wild beasts, but the angels waited upon Him.
14 Oluvannyuma nga Yokaana Omubatiza amaze okusibwa mu kkomera, Yesu n’ajja mu Ggaliraaya okubuulira Enjiri ya Katonda,
Then, after John had been thrown into prison, Jesus came into Galilee proclaiming God's Good News.
15 ng’agamba nti, “Ekiseera kituukiridde, n’obwakabaka bwa Katonda busembedde! Mwenenye mukkirize Enjiri.”
"The time has fully come," He said, "and the Kingdom of God is close at hand: repent, and believe this Good News.
16 Awo Yesu yali ng’ayita ku lubalama lw’ennyanja y’e Ggaliraaya, n’alaba Simooni ne muganda we Andereya nga basuula obutimba bwabwe mu nnyanja; kubanga baali bavubi.
One day, passing along the shore of the Lake of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, Simon's brother, throwing their nets in the Lake; for they were fisherman.
17 Yesu n’abagamba nti, “Mujje mungoberere nange ndibafuula abavubi b’abantu!”
"Come and follow me," said Jesus, "and I will make you fishers for men."
18 Amangwago ne baleka obutimba bwabwe ne bamugoberera.
At once they left their nets and followed Him.
19 Bwe yeeyongerayo katono, n’alaba Yakobo ne Yokaana batabani ba Zebbedaayo, nga bali mu lyato baddaabiriza obutimba bwabwe.
Going on a little further He saw James the son of Zabdi and his brother John: they also were in the boat mending the nets, and He immediately called them.
20 Amangwago n’abayita ne baleka kitaabwe Zebbedaayo mu lyato n’abapakasi, ne bagoberera Yesu.
They therefore left their father Zabdi in the boat with the hired men, and went and followed Him.
21 Awo ne bayingira mu Kaperunawumu. Amangwago n’ayingira mu kuŋŋaaniro ku Ssabbiiti, n’abayigiriza.
So they came to Capernaum, and on the next Sabbath He went to the synagogue and began to teach.
22 Ne beewuunya okuyigiriza kwe, kubanga yabayigiriza nga nannyini buyinza, so si ng’abannyonnyozi b’amateeka bwe baakolanga.
The people listened with amazement to His teaching--for there was authority about it: it was very different from that of the Scribes--
23 Amangwago ne walabika omusajja eyaliko omwoyo omubi mu ssinzizo, n’awowoggana,
when all at once, there in their synagogue, a man under the power of a foul spirit screamed out:
24 ng’agamba nti, “Otwagaza ki Yesu Omunnazaaleesi? Ozze okutuzikiriza? Nkumanyi gwe Mutukuvu wa Katonda.”
"What have you to do with us, Jesus the Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--God's Holy One."
25 Awo Yesu n’aguboggolera ng’agamba nti, “Sirika era muveeko.”
But Jesus reprimanded him, saying, "Silence! come out of him."
26 Awo omwoyo omubi ne gumusikambula nnyo, ne gumuvaako.
So the foul spirit, after throwing the man into convulsions, came out of him with a loud cry.
27 Buli omu ne yeewuunya, ne beebuuzaganya nti, “Kuyigiriza kwa ngeri ki kuno okuggya okujjudde obuyinza? So n’emyoyo emibi agiragira ne gimugondera.”
And all were amazed and awe-struck, so they began to ask one another, "What does this mean? Here is a new sort of teaching--and a tone of authority! And even to foul spirits he issues orders and they obey him!"
28 Amangwago amawulire agamukwatako ne gasaasaana wonna mu byalo ebyetoolodde Ggaliraaya.
And His fame spread at once everywhere in all that part of Galilee.
29 Amangwago ne bava mu kkuŋŋaaniro ne bagenda mu nnyumba ya Simooni ne Andereya nga bali ne Yakobo ne Yokaana.
Then on leaving the synagogue they came at once, with James and John, to the house of Simon and Andrew.
30 Ne basanga nga nnyina muka Simooni agalamidde mulwadde omusujja. Amangwago ne bakitegeeza Yesu.
Now Simon's mother-in-law was ill in bed with a fever, and without delay they informed Him about her.
31 Bwe yamusemberera, n’amukwata ku mukono n’amuyimusa, omusujja ne gumuwonako, n’abaweereza!
So He went to her, and taking her hand He raised her to her feet: the fever left her, and she began to wait upon them.
32 Awo obudde bwe bwali buwungeera, ng’enjuba egwa, ne bamuleetera abalwadde bonna, n’abaaliko dayimooni.
When it was evening, after sunset people came bringing Him all who were sick and the demoniacs;
33 Ekibuga kyonna ne kikuŋŋaanira ku luggi.
and the whole town was assembled at the door.
34 Era Yesu n’awonya abalwadde bangi abaalina endwadde ez’enjawulo era n’abaaliko baddayimooni bangi n’ababagobako, ne baddayimooni teyabaganya kwogera, kubanga baali bamumanyi.
Then He cured numbers of people who were ill with various diseases, and He drove out many demons; not allowing the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
35 Enkeera ng’obudde tebunnalaba yesu n’azuukuka n’agenda yekka mu kifo ekyekusifu, okusaba.
In the morning He rose early, while it was still quite dark, and leaving the house He went away to a solitary place and there prayed.
36 Awo Simooni ne be yali nabo ne bamunoonya,
And Simon and the others searched everywhere for Him.
37 bwe baamulaba ne bamugamba nti, “Buli muntu akunoonya.”
When they found Him they said, "Every one is looking for you."
38 Naye Yesu n’abagamba nti, “Tugende awalala mu byalo ebituliraanye, n’abeeyo mbabuulire, kubanga ekyo kye najjirira.”
"Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns," He replied, "that I may proclaim my Message there also; because for that purpose I came from God."
39 Awo n’abuulira mu makuŋŋaaniro ag’omu kitundu kyonna eky’e Ggaliraaya, era n’agoba ne baddayimooni.
And He went through all Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and expelling the demons.
40 Awo omugenge n’ajja eri Yesu ne yeegayirira ng’afukamidde mu maaso ge, n’amugamba nti, “Bwe kuba nga kwe kusiima kwo, oyinza okunnongoosa.”
One day there came a leper to Jesus entreating Him, and pleading on his knees. "If you are willing," he said, "you are able to cleanse me."
41 Yesu n’amusaasira, n’agolola omukono gwe, n’amukwatako, n’amugamba nti, “Nsiimye, longooka!”
Moved with pity Jesus reached out His hand and touched him. "I am willing," He said; "be cleansed."
42 Amangwago ebigenge ne bimuwonako, n’aba mulongoofu.
The leprosy at once left him, and he was cleansed.
43 Awo Yesu n’amukuutira nnyo n’amusiibula,
Jesus at once sent him away, strictly charging him,
44 ng’agamba nti, “Kino tokibuulirako muntu n’omu, wabula genda weeyanjule eri kabona, oweeyo n’ekirabo Musa kye yalagira okuweebwangayo, okuba obujulirwa gye bali.”
and saying, "Be careful not to tell any one, but go and show yourself to the Priest, and for your purification present the offerings that Moses appointed as evidence for them."
45 Naye omusajja n’atandika okwogera ku ebyo ebyamubaako, n’okubibunyisa. Yesu n’atasobola kuyingira mu kibuga mu lwatu, naye n’abeeranga mu bifo ebyekusifu. Abantu ne bajjanga gy’ali okuva mu njuyi zonna.
But the man, when he went out, began to tell every one and to publish the matter abroad, so that it was no longer possible for Jesus to go openly into any town; but He had to remain outside in unfrequented places, where people came to Him from all parts.
