< Lukka 2 >
1 Awo olwatuuka mu biseera ebyo, Kayisaali Agusito n’ayisa etteeka abantu bonna beewandiisa.
Now it came to pass, in those days, that there went forth a decree from Caesar Augustus, for all the inhabited earth to be enrolled:
2 Okubala kuno kwe kwasooka okubaawo ku mulembe gwa Kuleniyo nga ye gavana w’Obusuuli.
this enrolment, first was made while Cyrenius was governor of Syria:
3 Bonna ne bagenda okwewandiisa, buli muntu mu kibuga ky’ewaabwe.
and all were journeying to be enrolled, each one unto his own city.
4 Awo Yusufu n’ava e Nazaaleesi eky’e Ggaliraaya, n’agenda mu kibuga kya Dawudi ekiyitibwa Besirekemu eky’e Buyudaaya, kubanga yali wa mu kika kya Dawudi,
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of a city Nazareth, into Judaea, into the city of David which is called Bethlehem; because he was of the house and family of David:
5 yeewandiise ne Maliyamu eyali olubuto, oyo gwe yali ayogereza.
to enrol himself with Mary who was betrothed to him, she being with child.
6 Naye bwe baali bali eyo ekiseera kya Maliyamu eky’okuzaala ne kituuka.
And it came to pass, while they were there, that the days were fulfilled for her to give birth;
7 N’azaala omwana we omubereberye omulenzi, n’amubikka mu bugoye, n’amuzazika mu lutiba ente mwe ziriira, kubanga tebaafuna kifo mu nnyumba y’abagenyi.
and she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 Mu kiro ekyo waaliwo abasumba abaali mu kitundu ekyo kye kimu ku ttale nga bakuuma endiga zaabwe.
And there were, shepherds, in the same country, dwelling in the fields, and keeping the watches of the night over their flock.
9 Awo malayika wa Mukama n’abalabikira, ne waakaayakana n’ekitiibwa kya Mukama, ne batya nnyo.
And, a messenger of the Lord, stood over them, and, a glory of the Lord, shone round about them; and they feared, a great fear.
10 Malayika n’abagumya nti, “Temutya, kubanga mbaleetedde amawulire amalungi ag’essanyu eringi, era nga ga bantu bonna.
And the messenger said unto them—Be not afraid! For lo! I bring you good tidings of a great joy, the which shall be for all the people:
11 Kubanga Omulokozi, ye Kristo Mukama waffe azaaliddwa leero mu kibuga kya Dawudi.
That there hath been born unto you, this day, a saviour, —Who is Christ the Lord—in the city of David!
12 Ku kino kwe munaamutegeerera: Mujja kulaba omwana omuwere, ng’abikkiddwa mu ngoye, ng’azazikiddwa mu lutiba lw’ente.”
And, this, to you is, a sign: Ye shall find a babe, wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger.
13 Amangwago eggye lya bamalayika ab’omu ggulu ne beegatta ne malayika oyo ne batendereza Katonda nga bagamba nti,
And, suddenly, there came to be, with the messenger, the throng of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying—
14 “Ekitiibwa kibe eri Katonda Ali Waggulu ennyo. N’emirembe gibe mu nsi eri abantu Katonda b’asiima.”
Glory, in the highest, unto God! And, on earth, peace, among men of goodwill.
15 Awo bamalayika bwe baamala okuddayo mu ggulu, abasumba ne bateesa nti, “Tugende e Besirekemu tulabe kino ekibaddewo, Mukama ky’atutegeezezza.”
And it came to pass, when the messengers had departed from them into heaven, that, the shepherds, began to say one to another—Let us go through forthwith as far as to Bethlehem, and see this thing which hath come to pass, which the Lord hath made known to us.
16 Ne bayanguwa ne bagenda, ne balaba Maliyamu ne Yusufu, n’omwana omuwere ng’azazikiddwa mu lutiba lw’ente.
And they came, with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger.
17 Awo abasumba ne bategeeza bye baalabye, n’ebya bategeezeddwa ebikwata ku mwana oyo.
Now, when they beheld, they made known concerning the thing which had been told them as to this child.
18 Bonna abaawulira ebigambo by’abasumba ne beewuunya nnyo.
And, all who heard, marvelled concerning the things which had been told by the shepherds unto them;
19 Naye Maliyamu n’akuumanga ebigambo ebyo mu mutima gwe era ng’abirowoozaako nnyo.
but, Mary, was closely observing, all, these things, putting them together in her heart.
20 Awo abasumba ne baddayo gye balundira ebisibo byabwe, nga bagulumiza era nga batendereza Katonda, olw’ebyo byonna bye baawulira era ne bye baalaba nga bwe baali bategeezeddwa.
And the shepherds returned, giving glory and singing praise unto God, over all things which they had heard and seen, according as it had been told unto them.
21 Olunaku olw’omunaana olw’okukomolerwako bwe lwatuuka, n’atuumibwa erinnya Yesu, malayika lye yayogera nga Yesu tannaba kuba mu lubuto lwa nnyina.
And, when eight days were fulfilled for circumcising him, then was his name called, Jesus, —which it was called by the messenger, before he was conceived in the womb.
22 Awo ekiseera bwe kyatuuka Maliyamu okugenda mu Yeekaalu atukuzibwe, ng’amateeka ga Musa bwe galagira ne batwala Yesu e Yerusaalemi okumuwaayo eri Mukama.
And, when the days of their purification, according to the law of Moses, were fulfilled, they took him up into Jerusalem, to present [him] unto the Lord, —
23 Kubanga mu mateeka ago, Katonda yalagira nti, “Omwana omubereberye bw’anaabanga omulenzi, anaaweebwangayo eri Mukama.”
according as it is written in the law of the Lord—Every male that is a firstborn, Holy unto the Lord, shall be called,
24 Era mu kiseera kye kimu bakadde ba Yesu ne bawaayo ssaddaaka amateeka nga bwe galagira okuwaayo amayiba abiri oba enjiibwa bbiri.
and to give a sacrifice, according to that which is said in the law of the Lord—A pair of turtle-doves, or two young pigeons.
25 Ku lunaku olwo, waaliwo omusajja erinnya lye Simyoni, eyabeeranga mu Yerusaalemi, nga mutuukirivu, ng’atya Katonda, era ng’ajjudde Mwoyo Mutukuvu, ng’alindirira okusanyusibwa kwa Isirayiri.
And lo! there was, a man, in Jerusalem, whose name, was Symeon; and, this man, was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and Holy Spirit was upon him;
26 Kubanga yali abikkuliddwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu nti tagenda kufa nga tannalaba ku Kristo, Omulokozi.
and it had been intimated to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.
27 Mwoyo Mutukuvu n’amuluŋŋamya okujja mu Yeekaalu. Maliyamu ne Yusufu bwe baaleeta Omwana Yesu okumuwaayo eri Mukama ng’amateeka bwe galagira, ne Simyoni naye yaliwo.
And he came, in the Spirit, into the temple; and, when the parents brought in the child Jesus, that they might do according to that which was customary by the law concerning it,
28 Simyoni n’ajja n’asitula Omwana mu mikono gye, n’atendereza Katonda ng’agamba nti,
even he, welcomed it into his arms, and blessed God, and said—
29 “Mukama wange, kaakano osiibule omuweereza wo mirembe, ng’ekigambo kyo bwe kigamba.
Now, dost thou dismiss thy servant, O Sovereign, according to thy declaration—in peace;
30 Kubanga amaaso gange galabye Obulokozi bwo,
Because mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
31 bwe wateekateeka mu maaso g’abantu bonna,
Which thou hast prepared in face of all the peoples:
32 okuba Omusana ogw’okwakira amawanga. N’okuleetera abantu bo Abayisirayiri ekitiibwa!”
A light for the unveiling of nations, and the glory of thy people Israel.
33 Kitaawe w’omwana ne nnyina ne beewuunya ebigambo ebyayogerwa ku Yesu.
And his father and mother were marvelling over the things which were being spoken concerning him.
34 Awo Simyoni n’abasabira omukisa. N’alyoka n’agamba Maliyamu nti, “Omwana ono bangi mu Isirayiri tebagenda kumukkiriza, era alireetera bangi okugwa n’abalala ne bayimusibwa.
And Symeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother—Lo! this one, is being set for the falling and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign to be spoken against;
35 Era naawe ennaku eri ng’ekitala erikufumita omutima, n’ebirowoozo by’omu mitima gy’abantu birimanyibwa.”
And, thou! through thy very soul, shall pass a sword, that, reasonings, may be revealed, out of many hearts.
36 Waaliwo nnabbi omukazi, ayitibwa Ana, muwala wa Fanweri, ow’omu kika kya Aseri, era nga mukadde nnyo, eyafumbirwa nga muwala muto n’amala ne bba emyaka musanvu gyokka, bba n’afa,
And there was one Anna, a prophetess, daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher; —the same, advanced in many days; having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,
37 n’asigala nga nnamwandu. Mu kiseera kino yali yaakamala emyaka kinaana mu ena, era teyavanga mu Yeekaalu ng’asiiba n’okwegayiriranga Katonda emisana n’ekiro.
and, she, had been a widow for as long as eighty-four years, —who left not the temple, with fastings and supplications, rendering divine service night and day; —
38 Awo Ana mu kiseera ekyo yali ayimiridde okumpi ne Maliyamu ne Yusufu, naye n’atandika okutendereza Katonda ng’amwogerako eri abo bonna abaali balindirira okununulibwa kwa Yerusaalemi.
and, in that very hour, coming near, she began to give thanks unto God, and to speak concerning him unto all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
39 Awo bakadde ba Yesu bwe baamala okutuukiriza byonna ng’amateeka ga Mukama bwe galagira, ne baddayo e Nazaaleesi eky’omu Ggaliraaya.
And, when they had finished all things that were according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, into their own city, Nazareth.
40 Omwana n’akula, n’aba w’amaanyi, n’ajjuzibwa amagezi n’ekisa kya Katonda kyali ku ye.
And, the child, went on growing, and waxing strong, becoming filled with wisdom; and, the favour of God, was upon it.
41 Bakadde ba Yesu buli mwaka bagendanga mu Yerusaalemi ku Mbaga y’Okuyitako.
And his parents used to journey yearly into Jerusalem, at the feast of the passover.
42 Awo Yesu bwe yaweza emyaka kkumi n’ebiri egy’obukulu n’ayambuka e Yerusaalemi ne bakadde be ku mbaga, nga empisa yaabwe bwe yali.
And, when he became twelve years, and they went up, according to the custom of the feast,
43 Awo embaga ng’ewedde, ne bakyusa okuddayo ewaabwe, naye omulenzi Yesu n’asigala mu Yerusaalemi, naye bazadde be ne batakimanya.
and completed the days, and then were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, —and his parents noticed it not;
44 Kubanga baalowooza nti ali ne bannaabwe mu kibiina ekirala, ekiro ekyo bwe bataamulaba, ne bamunoonya mu kibiina omwali baganda baabwe ne mikwano gyabwe.
but, supposing him to be in the company, went a day’s journey, and then began to seek for him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances,
45 Bwe bataamulaba kwe kuddayo e Yerusaalemi nga bamunoonya.
and, not finding him, returned unto Jerusalem, seeking him.
46 Awo nga baakamunoonyeza ennaku ssatu, ne bamusanga ng’atudde mu Yeekaalu n’abannyonnyozi b’amateeka ng’abawuliriza awamu n’okubabuuza ebibuuzo.
And it came to pass, that, after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting amidst the teachers, —both hearkening unto them, and questioning them.
47 Bonna abaali bamuwuliriza ne beewuunya nnyo olw’amagezi ge n’okuddamu kwe.
Now all who heard him were beside themselves, because of his understanding and his answers.
48 Awo bazadde be bwe baamulaba ne beewuunya nnyo, nnyina n’amugamba nti, “Mwana waffe otukoze ki kino? Kitaawo nange tweraliikiridde nnyo nga tukunoonya!”
And, when they behold him, they were astounded, and his mother said unto him—Child! why, hast thou dealt with us, thus? Lo! thy father and I, in anguish, were seeking thee.
49 Yesu n’abaddamu nti, “Mubadde munnoonyeza ki? Temwategedde nga kiŋŋwanidde okukola ebintu bya Kitange?”
And he said unto them—Why was it that ye were seeking me? Perceived ye not, that, in the courts of my Father, I must needs be?
50 Naye ne batategeera bigambo ebyo bye yabagamba.
And, they, understood not the thing which he spake to them.
51 N’asituka n’agenda nabo e Nazaaleesi, n’abagonderanga; kyokka nnyina ebigambo ebyo byonna n’abikuuma mu mutima gwe.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was submitting himself unto them. And, his mother, was closely observing all these things in her heart.
52 Awo Yesu n’akula mu mubiri, mu magezi, era n’alaba ekisa mu maaso ga Katonda ne mu maaso g’abantu.
And, Jesus, went on advancing in wisdom, and in stature, and in favour with God and men.
