1 Mu kiseera ekyo ne wabaawo abategeeza Yesu nga Piraato bwe yatta Abagaliraaya, omusaayi gwabwe n’agutabula mu biweebwayo byabwe.
Just at that time some people had come to tell Jesus about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
2 Yesu n’abagamba nti, “Mulowooza nti Abagaliraaya abo baali boonoonyi nnyo okusinga Abagaliraaya abalala bonna, balyoke baboneebone batyo?
“Do you suppose,” replied Jesus, “that, because these Galileans have suffered in this way, they were worse sinners than any other Galileans?
3 Nedda! Mbagamba nti bwe muteenenya nammwe mugenda kuzikirira ng’abo bwe baazikirira.
No, I tell you; but, unless you repent, you will all perish as they did.
4 Ate bali ekkumi n’omunaana omunaala gwa Sirowamu be gwagwako, ne gubatta, mulowooza be baali basinga obwonoonyi okusinga abantu abaabeeranga mu Yerusaalemi bonna?
Or those eighteen men at Siloam on whom the tower fell, killing them all, do you suppose that they were worse offenders than any other inhabitants of Jerusalem?
5 Nedda! Mbagamba nti bwe muteenenya nammwe bwe mugenda okuzikirira bwe mutyo.”
No, I tell you; but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same manner.”
6 Awo Yesu n’abagerera olugero luno nti, “Waaliwo omusajja eyasimba omutiini mu nnimiro ye. N’agendangayo okugulambula okulaba obanga gubazeeko ebibala, n’asanga nga tegubazeeko kibala na kimu.
And Jesus told them this parable — “A man, who had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, came to look for fruit on it, but could not find any.
7 Kyeyava alagira omusajja we amulimira ennimiro eyo nti, ‘Omuti guno gutemewo. Kubanga gino emyaka esatu nga nambula omuti guno, naye tegubalangako kibala na kimu. Gwemalira bwereere ettaka lyaffe.’
So he said to his gardener ‘Three years now I have come to look for fruit on this fig tree, without finding any! Cut it down. Why should it rob the soil?’
8 Omulimi we n’addamu nti, ‘Mukama wange, tuguleke tetugutemawo. Ka tuguweeyo omwaka gumu, nzija kugutemeratemera era nguteekeko n’ebigimusa.
‘Leave it this one year more, Sir,’ the man answered, ‘till I have dug round it and manured it.
9 Bwe gulibala ebibala gye bujja, kiriba kirungi! Naye bwe gutalibala, olwo noolyoka ogutemawo.’”
Then, if it bears in future, well and good; but if not, you can have it cut down.’”
10 Awo ku lunaku lwa Ssabbiiti Yesu yali ng’ayigiriza mu kkuŋŋaaniro,
Jesus was teaching on a Sabbath in one of the Synagogues,
11 ne wabaawo omukazi eyaliko omuzimu ogwamulwaza okumala emyaka kkumi na munaana, nga yeewese emirundi ebiri era nga tasobola kwegolola.
and he saw before him a woman who for eighteen years had suffered from weakness owing to her having an evil spirit in her. She was bent double, and was wholly unable to raise herself.
12 Yesu n’amulaba, n’amuyita n’amugamba nti, “Mukazi wattu, owonyezeddwa obulwadde bwo.”
When Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said: “Woman, you are released from your weakness.”
13 N’amukwatako. Amangwago omukazi ne yeegolola n’ayimirira bulungi, n’atendereza Katonda!
He placed his hands on her, and she was instantly made straight, and began to praise God.
14 Naye omukulembeze w’ekkuŋŋaaniro eryo n’anyiiga nnyo, kubanga Yesu yawonya ku lunaku lwa Ssabbiiti. N’agamba ekibiina nti, “Mu wiiki mulimu ennaku mukaaga, muyinza okujjanga mu nnaku ezo ne muwonyezebwa, naye so si ku Ssabbiiti!”
But the President of the Synagogue, indignant that Jesus had worked the cure on the Sabbath, interposed and said to the people: “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come to be cured on one of those, and not on the Sabbath.”
15 Mukama waffe n’amuddamu nti, “Bannanfuusi mmwe! Buli omu ku mmwe tasumulula nte ye oba ndogoyi ye ku Ssabbiiti n’agitwala okunywa amazzi?
“You hypocrites!” the Master answered him. “Does not every one of you let his ox or his ass loose from its manger, and take it out to drink, on the Sabbath?
16 Naye si kituufu omukazi ono, muwala wa Ibulayimu, okusumululwa ku Ssabbiiti mu busibe bwa Setaani bw’amazeemu emyaka ekkumi n’omunaana?”
But this woman, a daughter of Abraham, who has been kept in bondage by Satan for now eighteen years, ought not she to have been released from her bondage on the Sabbath?”
17 Bwe yayogera bw’atyo abaali bamuwakanya bonna ne baswala, naye ekibiina ky’abantu bonna ne bajjula essanyu olw’ebintu eby’ekitalo bye yakola.
As he said this, his opponents all felt ashamed; but all the people rejoiced to see all the wonderful things that he was doing.
18 Awo Yesu kyeyava abayigiriza ng’agamba nti, “Obwakabaka bwa Katonda bufaanana na ki? Mbugeraageranye na ki?
So Jesus said: “What is the Kingdom of God like? and to what can I liken it?
19 Bufaanana na kaweke ka kaladaali omusajja ke yasiga mu nnimiro ye. Kaamera ne kavaamu omuti, n’ennyonyi ez’omu bbanga ne zituula ku matabi gaagwo.”
It is like a mustard-seed which a man took and put in his garden. The seed grew and became a tree, and ‘the wild birds roosted in its branches.’”
20 Ate era n’agamba nti, “Obwakabaka bwa Katonda mbugeraageranye na ki?
And again Jesus said: “To what can I liken the Kingdom of God?
21 Buliŋŋanga ekizimbulukusa omukazi kye yatabulira mu bipimo by’obuwunga bisatu okutuusa obuwunga bwonna lwe bwazimbulukuka.”
It is like some yeast which a woman took and covered in three pecks of flour, until the whole had risen.”
22 Awo Yesu n’ayita mu bibuga ne mu bubuga; yagendanga ayigiriza ng’ali ku lugendo lwe ng’agenda e Yerusaalemi.
Jesus went through towns and villages, teaching as he went, and making his way towards Jerusalem.
23 Ne wabaawo eyeewuunya nti, “Mukama waffe, abantu abalirokolebwa nga baliba batono?” Yesu n’addamu nti,
“Master,” some one asked, “are there but few in the path of Salvation?” And Jesus answered:
24 “Mufube okuyingira mu mulyango omufunda kubanga mbagamba nti, bangi balyagala okuyingira naye tebalisobola.
“Strive to go in by the small door. Many, I tell you, will seek to go in, but they will not be able,
25 Nannyinimu bw’alisituka n’aggalawo oluggi, mugenda kubeera bweru nga mukonkona nga bwe mwegayirira nti, ‘Mukama waffe, tuggulirewo.’ Agenda kubaanukula nti, ‘Sibamanyi, ne gye muva simanyiiyo.’
when once the master of the house has got up and shut the door, while you begin to say, as you stand outside and knock, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’ His answer will be — ‘I do not know where you come from.’
26 Nammwe muliddamu nti, ‘Twalyanga naawe era twanywanga ffenna, era wayigirizanga mu nguudo z’ewaffe.’
Then you will begin to say ‘We have eaten and drunk in your presence, and you have taught in our streets,’ and his reply will be —
27 Naye alibaddamu nti, ‘Sibamanyi, ne gye muva simanyiiyo. Munviire mwenna abakozi b’ebitali bya bituukirivu.’
‘I do not know where you come from. Leave my presence, all you who are living in wickedness.’
28 Era waliba okukuba ebiwoobe n’okuluma obujiji bwe muliraba Ibulayimu, ne Isaaka, ne Yakobo ne bannabbi bonna nga bali mu bwakabaka bwa Katonda, naye nga mmwe musuulibbwa ebweru.
There, there will be weeping and grinding of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all the Prophets, in the Kingdom of God, while you yourselves are being driven outside.
29 Kubanga abantu baliva ebuvanjuba n’ebugwanjuba, ne bava ne mu bukiikakkono ne mu bukiikaddyo, ne batuula ku mmeeza mu bwakabaka bwa Katonda.
People will come from East and West, and from North and South, and take their places at the banquet in the Kingdom of God.
30 Era laba, abooluvannyuma baliba aboolubereberye, n’aboolubereberye baliba abooluvannyuma.”
there are some who are last now who will then be first, and some who are first now who will then be last!”
31 Mu kiseera ekyo ne wabaawo abamu ku Bafalisaayo abajja eri Yesu ne bamugamba nti, “Tambula ove wano, kubanga Kerode ayagala kukutta.”
Just then some Pharisees came up to Jesus and said: “Go away and leave this place, for Herod wants to kill you.”
32 Yesu n’abaddamu nti, “Mugende mugambe ekibe ekyo nti laba ngoba baddayimooni, n’okuwonya abalwadde, leero, n’enkya, era ku lunaku olwokusatu ndimaliriza.
But Jesus answered: “Go and say to that fox ‘Look you, I am driving out demons and shall be completing cures to-day and to-morrow, and on the third day I shall have done.’
33 Naye leero, n’enkya, ne luli nsaana mbeere ku lugendo lwange nga ntambula, kubanga tekisoboka nnabbi okufiira ebweru wa Yerusaalemi!
But to-day and to-morrow and the day after I must go on my way, because it cannot be that a Prophet should meet his end outside Jerusalem.
34 “Ggwe Yerusaalemi, ggwe Yerusaalemi, atta bannabbi, n’okuba amayinja abo ababa batumiddwa gy’oli, emirundi nga mingi nnyo gye njagadde okukuŋŋaanya abaana bo ng’enkoko bw’ekuŋŋaanya obwana bwayo mu biwaawaatiro byayo, naye n’ogaana!
Jerusalem! Jerusalem! she who slays the Prophets and stones the messengers sent to her — Oh, how often have I wished to gather your children round me, as a hen takes her brood under her wings, and you would not come!
35 Kale laba ennyumba yammwe erekeddwa awo. Era mbagamba nti temugenda kuddayo kundaba okutuusa ekiseera lwe kirituuka ne mugamba nti, ‘Aweereddwa omukisa oyo ajja mu linnya lya Mukama.’”
Verily your House is left to you desolate! and never, I tell you, shall you see me, until you say — ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
