< Yoswa 22 >

1 Awo Yoswa n’ayita Abalewubeeni n’Abagaadi n’ekitundu eky’ekika kya Manase,
Then Joshua summoned the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
2 n’abagamba nti, “Mwekuumye ne mukola byonna Musa omuweereza wa Mukama Katonda bye yabalagira.
He told them, “You have done everything that Moses, the servant of the Lord, told you to do, and you have followed all the commands I gave you.
3 Ebbanga lyonna n’okutuusa leero temulekeredde baganda bammwe, mubadde beegendereza okukuuma ekiragiro kya Mukama Katonda wammwe.
You have never abandoned your brothers all this time, right up to the present day. You have carefully followed what the Lord your God ordered you to do.
4 Era kaakano Mukama Katonda wammwe awadde baganda bammwe emirembe nga bwe yabasuubiza. Noolwekyo muddeeyo mu maka gammwe mu nsi Musa omuweereza wa Mukama gye yabawa ku luuyi luli olulala olwa Yoludaani.
Now that the Lord your God has given peace to your brothers, as he promised, go back home to your land that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you on the other side of the Jordan.
5 Wabula mwegendereze okukuumanga ebiragiro era n’amateeka Musa omuweereza wa Mukama bye yabalagira: okwagalanga Mukama Katonda wammwe, okutambuliranga mu makubo ge gonna, okukuumanga ebiragiro bye, n’okumunywererangako era n’okumuweerezanga n’omutima gwammwe gwonna era n’emmeeme yammwe yonna.”
But make sure you keep the commandments and the law as Moses instructed you. Love the Lord your God, follow all his ways, keep his commandments, stay close to him, and serve him with your whole being.”
6 Yoswa n’alyoka abasabira omukisa n’abasiibula ne baddayo mu maka gaabwe.
Joshua blessed them, sent them on their way, and they went home.
7 Ekitundu ekimu eky’ekika kya Manase, Musa yali akigabidde ettaka mu Basani, n’ekitundu ekirala eky’ekika kya Manase ne baganda baabwe, Yoswa n’akiwa ettaka ku luuyi olw’ebugwanjuba bwa Yoludaani. Yoswa n’abawa omukisa n’abasiibula baddeyo ewaabwe.
Moses had given to the half-tribe of Manasseh the land of Bashan, and to the other half of the tribe Joshua had given land west of the Jordan. Joshua blessed them and sent them home.
8 N’abagamba nti, “Ente nnyingi, ne ffeeza, ne zaabu, n’ekikomo, n’ekyuma, era n’engoye nnyingi bye munyaze ku balabe bammwe; mubigabaane ne baganda bammwe.”
He told them, “Take all the wealth you have gained back home: the great herds of livestock, the things made of gold, silver, copper, and iron, the huge quantity of clothes. Share all this plunder with your brothers.”
9 Awo Abalewubeeni n’abaana ba Gaadi n’ekitundu eky’ekika kya Manase nga bava mu baana ba Isirayiri mu Siiro ekiri mu nsi ya Kanani ne baddayo mu nsi yaabwe, mu Gireyaadi, gye baali bagabanye bo bennyini ng’ekiragiro kya Mukama Katonda bwe kyali okuyita mu Musa.
So the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh left the rest of the Israelites at Shiloh in the land of Canaan and went home to their land in Gilead that they had received at the Lord's command through Moses.
10 Era bwe baatuuka mu kitundu ekiriraanye Yoludaani mu nsi ya Kanani, abaana ba Lewubeeni n’abaana ba Gaadi n’ekitundu eky’ekika kya Manase, ne bazimba awo ekyoto, ekinene ddala.
When they approached the Jordan region, still in the land of Canaan, the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh built a large and impressive altar beside the Jordan River.
11 Wabula abantu ba Isirayiri bwe baawulira nti bazimbye ekyoto ku Yoludaani ku luuyi lwa Isirayiri,
The Israelites were told, “Look, the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have built an altar in the Jordan region of the land of Canaan, on the side belonging to the Israelities.”
12 ekibiina kyonna ekya Isirayiri ne bakuŋŋaana e Siiro beetegekere olutalo babalumbe.
The Israelites gathered at Shiloh to go to war against them.
13 Awo abaana ba Isirayiri ne batuma Finekaasi omwana wa Eriyazaali kabona eri Abalewubeeni, n’Abagaadi, n’ekitundu ky’ekika kya Manase mu nsi ya Gireyaadi.
Before they did so, they sent Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest to the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in the land of Gilead.
14 Ne batumirako abakungu kkumi, omu omu omukulu w’ennyumba mu buli kika kya Isirayiri.
Ten leaders went with him, one from each of the ten tribes of Israel, and each the head of his family.
15 Bwe bajja eri Abalewubeeni, n’Abagaadi, n’ekibiina kyonna ekya Manase mu nsi ya Gireyaadi ne babagamba nti,
After they arrived they told the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh,
16 “Ekibiina kyonna ekya Mukama bwe kiti bwe kigamba, ‘Muyinza mutya okukyama bwe muti okuva ku Katonda wa Isirayiri? Muyinza mutya okuva ku Mukama ne mwezimbira ekyoto ne mumujeemera awo?
“This is what all of the Lord's people say, ‘What is this disloyal act you have committed against the God of Israel by building an altar for yourselves? How could you turn away from him now in such rebellion?
17 Ekibi kya Peoli tekyatumala, ate nga n’okwerongoosa tubadde tetunnaba kwerongoosa kwemalako kibi ekyo, wadde kawumpuli yagwa ku kibiina kya Mukama Katonda,
Wasn't our sin at Peor enough? Even now we're still not clean from the plague that attacked the Lord's people.
18 ate mmwe ne mulekeraawo okugoberera Mukama Katonda? “‘Bwe munaajeemera Mukama leero, enkya ajja kunyiigira eggwanga lyonna erya Isirayiri.
So why are you turning away from the Lord now? If you rebel against the Lord today, he will be angry with all of us tomorrow!
19 Obanga ensi gye mututte sinnongoofu, mujje eno eri ensi ya Mukama, weema ya Mukama gy’eri, tugabane eno gye tuli; kye mutasaana kukola kwe kujeemera Mukama, oba okutufuula ffe abajeemu nga mwezimbira ekyoto ekitali kya Mukama Katonda waffe.
But if you think your land is tainted then come over to the land of the Lord where the Tabernacle of the Lord is located and share some of our land with us. Just don't rebel against the Lord, or against us, by building for yourselves an altar other than the altar of the Lord our God.
20 Akani mutabani wa Zeera teyajeema bwe yatoola ku bintu Mukama bye yali yeerobozza, ekiruyi kya Mukama ne kijjira ekibiina kyonna ekya Isirayiri? Si ye yekka eyazikirira olw’ekibi kye.’”
When Achan, son of Zerah, acted disloyally in taking consecrated things, didn't the whole of Israel suffer punishment? He wasn't the only one who died because of his sin!”
21 Abalewubeeni, n’Abagaadi, n’ekitundu ky’ekika kya Manase ne balyoka baddamu abakulu b’ebika bya Isirayiri nti,
Then the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh answered the Israelite leaders,
22 “Mukama Katonda ow’Amaanyi, Mukama ow’Amaanyi! Ye amanyi, era Isirayiri akimanye! Bwe kiba nga kyabadde mu kwediima oba kujeemera Mukama, temutusonyiwa leero.
“The Lord is God of gods, the Lord is God of gods, and he knows! May Israel also know! If we're in rebellion against God or being disloyal to him then kill us right now!
23 Bwe tuba nga ekyatuzimbya ekyoto kwe kuva ku Mukama, tukiweereko ekiweebwayo ekyokebwa oba ekiweebwayo ekyobutta oba ssaddaaka ez’ebiweebwayo olw’emirembe, Mukama Katonda yennyini atuvunaane.
If our action of building an altar was to turn away from the Lord, or to use the altar to make burnt offerings or grain offerings or friendship offerings, then may the Lord punish us.
24 Nedda, twakikola mu kutya nti mu mirembe egijja abaana baffe balitubuuza nti, ‘Mukama Katonda wa Isirayiri mumumanyiiko ki?
We did this because we were worried that in the future your descendants might say to ours, ‘What have you got to do with the Lord, the God of Israel?
25 Kubanga Mukama yakola Yoludaani okubeera ensalo wakati wammwe naffe mmwe Abalewubeeni, n’Abagaadi, temulina mugabo eri Mukama Katonda.’ Noolwekyo abaana bammwe bayinza okugaana abaana baffe okusinza Mukama Katonda.
The Lord put a border—the Jordan River—between us and you, descendants of Reuben and Gad. You don't belong to the Lord.’ So your descendants might stop our descendants from worshiping the Lord.
26 “Kyetwava tugamba nti, ‘Leka tuzimbe kaakano ekyoto ekitali kya kukozesa ku biweebwayo ebyokebwa, wadde ssaddaaka,’
So we said to ourselves, ‘Let's build an altar, not for burnt offerings or for sacrifices,
27 naye kibeere akabonero ak’obujulizi wakati waffe nammwe, era ne wakati we mirembe egirituddirira nti tugenda mu maaso ga Mukama Katonda ne tumusinza n’ebiweebwayo byaffe ebyokebwa ne ssaddaaka era n’ebiweebwayo olw’emirembe si kulwa nga abaana bammwe bagamba abaana baffe mu biseera ebijja nti, ‘Temulina mugabo gwonna eri Mukama Katonda.’
but as a witness between us and you, and for the generations that come after us, that we will come to worship the Lord in his presence with our burnt offerings, sacrifices, and friendship offerings.’ Then your descendants will not be able to say to ours in the future, ‘You don't belong to the Lord.’
28 Kyetwava tugamba nti, ‘Bwe balitugamba batyo oba okugamba abaana baffe abaliddawo, tulibaddamu nti, “Mulabe ekifaananyi kye kyoto kya Mukama Katonda, bakitaffe kye baakola, si lwa biweebwayo ebyokebwa wadde ssaddaaka, naye okubeera omujulirwa wakati waffe nammwe.”’
If they were to do so in the future, our descendants could reply, ‘Look at this copy of the Lord's altar which our forefathers made, not for burnt offerings or for sacrifices, but as a witness between us and you.’
29 Kikafuuwe ffe okujeemera Mukama era n’okumuvaako leero ne tutamugoberera nga tuzimba ekyoto eky’ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa, oba ebiweebwayo eby’empeke, oba ssaddaaka, ekitali kyoto kya Mukama Katonda waffe ekiri mu maaso ga Ssanduuko y’Endagaano ye!”
We would never think to rebel against the Lord or to turn away from him now by building an altar to make burnt offerings or grain offerings or sacrifices. The only altar of the Lord our God is the one stands in front of his Tabernacle.”
30 Finekaasi kabona, n’abakulu b’ebibiina by’ebika bya Isirayiri abaali naye bwe baawulira ebigambo Abalewubeeni, n’Abagaadi n’aba Manase bye bayogera, ne bibasanyusa nnyo.
When Phinehas and the Israelite leaders heard this from the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh they were delighted.
31 Finekaasi mutabani wa Eriyazaali kabona n’agamba Abalewubeeni n’Abagaadi n’abaana ba Manase nti, “Leero tutegedde nti Mukama ali wakati mu ffe, kubanga temukoze kivve kino eri Mukama Katonda, kaakano abantu ba Isirayiri mubawonyezza omukono gwa Mukama Katonda.”
Phinehas replied to the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, “Today we know that the Lord is with us because you have not acted disloyally in doing this. Now you have saved the Israelites from being punished by the Lord.”
32 Awo Finekaasi mutabani wa Eriyazaali kabona, n’abakulu b’ebika ne bava eri Abalewubeeni, n’Abagaadi mu nsi ye Kanani, ne baddayo eri abantu ba Isirayiri ne bababuulira ebibaddeyo.
Then Phinehas and the Israelite leaders left the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in the land of Gilead and returned to the land of Canaan to explain the situation to the Israelites.
33 Bye baayogera ne bisanyusa abantu ba Isirayiri ne bagulumiza Katonda ne bataddayo kwogera ku bya lutalo kubalumba, bazikirize ensi Abalewubeeni, n’Abagaadi gye baali basenze.
The Israelites were pleased with the report and God blessed them. They didn't talk about going to war any more to destroy the land where the tribes of Reuben and Gad were living.
34 Abalewubeeni n’Abagaadi ne batuuma ekyoto erinnya Mujulizi, ne bagamba nti, “Kubanga mujulizi eri ffe nti Mukama ye Katonda.”
The tribes of Reuben and Gad called the altar, “Witness,” because they said, “It is a witness between us that the Lord is also our God.”
