1 Ekibiina kyonna eky’abaana ba Isirayiri ne bakuŋŋaanira mu Siiro ne basimba eyo Eweema ey’Okukuŋŋaanirangamu. Ensi yali mu mikono gyabwe,
Then the whole congregation of Israel assembled at Shiloh and set up the Tent of Meeting there. And though the land was subdued before them,
2 wabula waali wakyaliwo ebika musanvu ebya Isirayiri ebyali tebinnafuna mugabo gwabyo.
there were still seven tribes of Israel who had not yet received their inheritance.
3 Yoswa n’agamba abaana ba Isirayiri nti, “Mulituusa ddi okulinda nga temunnafuna mugabo Mukama Katonda wa bajjajjammwe gwe yabawa?
So Joshua said to the Israelites, “How long will you put off entering and possessing the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?
4 Mulonde abantu basatu mu buli kika mbatume bayite mu nsi bagyetegereze, ng’emigabo gyabwe bwe giri era bawandiike ng’emigabo gyabwe bwe giri bakomewo bantegeeze.
Appoint three men from each tribe, and I will send them out to survey the land and map it out, according to the inheritance of each. Then they will return to me
5 Baligigabanyaamu ebitundu musanvu Yuda esigale mu bitundu byayo mu bukiikaddyo n’ennyumba ya Yusufu mu bitundu byayo mu bukiikakkono.
and divide the land into seven portions. Judah shall remain in their territory in the south, and the house of Joseph shall remain in their territory in the north.
6 Nga mumaze okugabanya ensi mu bitundu musanvu mundeetere bye muwandiise mbakubire obululu mu maaso ga Mukama Katonda waffe.
When you have mapped out the seven portions of land and brought it to me, I will cast lots for you here in the presence of the LORD our God.
7 Abaleevi tebalina mugabo mu mmwe kubanga obwakabona bwa Mukama gwe mugabo gwabwe, ne Gaadi, ne Lewubeeni n’ekitundu eky’ekika kya Manase bo baamala okuweebwa omugabo gwabwe emitala wa Yoludaani ku luuyi olw’ebuvanjuba, Musa omuweereza wa Mukama gwe yabawa.”
The Levites, however, have no portion among you, because their inheritance is the priesthood of the LORD. And Gad, Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already received the inheritance that Moses the servant of the LORD gave them beyond the Jordan to the east.”
8 Abantu ne bagenda okulaba ensi bw’efaanana, Yoswa n’alagira be baali batumye nti, “Mugende mutambuletambule mu nsi mugyetegereze bw’efaanana, mukomewo mbakubire obululu wano mu maaso ga Mukama e Siiro.”
As the men got up to go out, Joshua commanded them to map out the land, saying, “Go and survey the land, map it out, and return to me. Then I will cast lots for you here in Shiloh in the presence of the LORD.”
9 Awo ne bagenda ne bayita mu nsi, ne bawandiika ebitundu musanvu ebifa ku bibuga mu kitabo, ne bakomawo ewa Yoswa mu lusiisira e Siiro.
So the men departed and went throughout the land, mapping it city by city into seven portions. Then they returned with the document to Joshua at the camp in Shiloh.
10 Awo Yoswa n’abakubira obululu mu Siiro mu maaso ga Mukama n’agabanyiza abaana ba Isirayiri ensi ng’ebitundu byabwe bwe byali.
And Joshua cast lots for them in the presence of the LORD at Shiloh, where he distributed the land to the Israelites according to their divisions.
11 Awo akalulu k’ekika kya Benyamini, okusinziira ku nnyumba mwe bazaalibwa, ne katuuka era omugabo gwe baafuna ne guba mu makkati g’abaana ba Yuda n’abaana ba Yusufu.
The first lot came up for the clans of the tribe of Benjamin. Their allotted territory lay between the tribes of Judah and Joseph:
12 Ku luuyi olw’obukiikakkono ensalo yaabwe ne tandikira ku Yoludaani ne yeeyongera ku njegoyego z’obukiikakkono bwa Yeriko n’eyambuka mu nsi ey’ensozi ebugwanjuba n’ekomekkereza mu ddungu ly’e Besaveni.
On the north side their border began at the Jordan, went up past the northern slope of Jericho, headed west through the hill country, and came out at the wilderness of Beth-aven.
13 Ensalo n’esala okuva mu bukiikaddyo n’etuuka e Luzi ye Beseri ne yeeyongera mu bukiikaddyo e Atalosuaddali kumpi n’olusozi oluli wammanga mu bukiikaddyo obwa Besukolooni.
From there the border crossed over to the southern slope of Luz (that is, Bethel) and went down to Ataroth-addar on the hill south of Lower Beth-horon.
14 Ensalo ne yeeyongerayo okuva ku lusozi olutunuulidde Besukolooni n’eraga ku bukiikaddyo n’edda ebuvanjuba n’etuuka e Kiriasubaali, ye Kiriyasuyalimu, kye kibuga ky’abaana ba Yuda. Olwo lwe luuyi olw’ebugwanjuba.
On the west side the border curved southward from the hill facing Beth-horon on the south and came out at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of the sons of Judah. This was the western side.
15 Oluuyi olw’obukiikaddyo lwatandikira ku njegoyego za Kiriyasuyalimu gye kikoma n’edda ebuvanjuba, ensalo ne yeeyongerayo ku nsulo ez’amazzi aga Nefutoa.
On the south side the border began at the outskirts of Kiriath-jearim and extended westward to the spring at the Waters of Nephtoah.
16 Ate era ensalo n’ekkirira olusozi we lukoma, olutunudde mu kiwonvu kya mutabani wa Kinomu ekiri mu bukiikakkono lw’ekiwonvu kya Lefa, n’ekkirira mu kiwonvu kya Kinomu ekiri mu bukiikaddyo bw’ekibuga Yebusi, n’ekka ku Enerogeri.
Then it went down to the foot of the hill that faces the Valley of Hinnom at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim and ran down the Valley of Hinnom toward the southern slope of the Jebusites and downward to En-rogel.
17 N’eryoka yeebungulula ng’eva mu bukiikakkono n’etuuka ku Ensomesi ne yeeyongerayo e Gerirosi ekitunuulidde ekkubo eryambuka okugenda Adummiru n’eyita n’etuuka ku jjinja lya Bokani mutabani wa Lewubeeni,
From there it curved northward and proceeded to En-shemesh and on to Geliloth facing the Ascent of Adummim, and continued down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
18 ne yeeyongerayo mu bukiikakkono ku luuyi lwa Besi Alaba okutuuka ku Alaba,
Then it went on to the northern slope of Beth-arabah and went down into the valley.
19 ne yeeyongerayo mu bukiikakkono obwa Besukogula bw’etyo ensalo n’ekoma ku bukiikakkono bw’Ennyanja ey’Omunnyo mu bukiikaddyo bw’omugga Yoludaani. Eyo y’ensalo ey’oku bukiikaddyo.
The border continued to the northern slope of Beth-hoglah and came out at the northern bay of the Salt Sea, at the mouth of the Jordan. This was the southern border.
20 Yoludaani ye yali ensalo ku luuyi olw’ebuvanjuba. Guno gwe gwali omugabo gw’ekika kya Benyamini ng’enju bwe zaali, ng’ensalo bwe zaali era ng’enju zaabwe bwe zaali.
On the east side the border was the Jordan. These were the borders around the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Benjamin.
21 Kale nno ebibuga by’ekika ky’abaana ba Benyamini ng’enju zaabwe bwe zaali byali: Yeriko ne Besukogula ne Emekkezizi,
These were the cities of the clans of the tribe of Benjamin: Jericho, Beth-hoglah, Emek-keziz,
22 ne Besualaba ne Zemalayimu ne Beseri,
Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,
23 ne Avvimu ne Pala ne Ofula,
Avvim, Parah, Ophrah,
24 ne Kefalamoni ne Ofuni ne Geba ebibuga kkumi na bibiri n’ebyalo byabyo.
Chephar-ammoni, Ophni, and Geba—twelve cities, along with their villages.
25 Gibyoni ne Laama ne Beerosi,
Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth,
26 ne Mizupe ne Kefira ne Moza,
Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah,
27 ne Lekemu ne Irupeeri ne Talala,
Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah,
28 ne Zeera, Erefu n’Omuyebusi, ye Yerusaalemi, ne Gibeasi ne Kiriasi ebibuga kkumi na bina n’ebyalo byabyo. Ogwo gwe gwali omugabo ogw’abaana ba Benyamini ng’enju zaabwe bwe zaali.
Zelah, Haeleph, Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, and Kiriath-jearim —fourteen cities, along with their villages. This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Benjamin.
