< Yoswa 11 >
1 Awo Yabini kabaka w’e Kazoli bwe yakimanya, n’atumya Yobabu kabaka w’e Madoni n’eri kabaka w’e Simuloni n’eri kabaka w’e Akusafu,
And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor heard, that he sent unto Jobab king of Madon, and unto the king of Shimron, and unto the king of Achshaph;
2 ne bakabaka abaali mu bukiikakkono mu nsi ey’ensozi, ne mu Alaba mu bukiikaddyo e Kinnerosi, ne mu nsenyi, ne mu nsozi ez’e Doli ku luuyi olw’ebugwanjuba.
and unto the kings who were on the north in the hill country and in the waste plain south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, —and in the heights of Dor, on the west:
3 N’atumya Abakanani ebuvanjuba n’ebugwanjuba, n’Abamoli, n’Abakiiti n’Abaperezi, n’Abayebusi mu nsi ey’ensozi, n’Abakiivi wansi wa Kerumooni mu nsi ey’e Mizupa.
the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite and the Jebusite, in the hill country, —and the Hivite, under Hermon, in the land of Mizpah;
4 Ne bajja, n’amaggye gaabwe gonna, nga bangi nnyo nga bali ng’omusenyu gw’ennyanja, era ne bajja n’embalaasi nnyingi nnyo n’amagaali mangi nnyo.
and they came out—they, and all their hosts with them, much people, like the sand that is upon the seashore for multitude, —with horses and chariots very many.
5 Awo bakabaka bano bonna ne beegatta ne bakuba olusiisira olwa awamu ku nzizi ez’e Meromu, balwanyise Isirayiri.
And, when all these kings were gathered together, they came in, and encamped as one man, at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.
6 Awo Mukama n’agamba Yoswa nti, “Tobatya kubanga obudde nga bwe buti enkya nzija kubawaayo bonna eri Isirayiri, bafumitibwe, battibwe, embalaasi muziteme enteega n’amagaali gookebwe.”
Then said Yahweh unto Joshua—Do not fear because of them, for, to-morrow, about this time, am I going to deliver up all of them, slain, before Israel, —their horses, shalt thou ham-string, and, their chariots, shalt thou burn up with fire.
7 Awo Yoswa n’abalwanyi be bonna ne balumba abalabe ku nzizi ez’e Meromu.
So Joshua, and all the army with him, came in upon them, by the waters of Merom, suddenly, and fell upon them.
8 Mukama n’abawaayo mu mukono gwa Isirayiri ne babawangula ne babagobera ddala, okubatuusa mu Sidoni ekinene ne ku Misurefosumayimu, ne ku kiwonvu kye Mizupa ebuvanjuba, ne babazikiririza ddala obutalekaawo n’omu.
And Yahweh delivered them up into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them as far as great Zidon, and as far as Misrephoth-maim, and as far as the valley of Mizpeh, eastward, —yea they smote them until they left them not a survivor.
9 Yoswa n’abakolako nga Mukama bwe yamulagira, embalaasi zaabwe nazitema enteega, n’amagaali gaabwe n’agookya omuliro.
And Joshua did unto them, as Yahweh had said unto him, —their horses, he ham-strung, and, their chariots, burned he up with fire.
10 Mu kiseera ekyo Yoswa n’addako emabega n’awamba Kazoli, kabaka waakyo n’amutta n’ekitala kubanga emabegako Kazoli kye kyali ekitebe ky’obwakabaka obwo bwonna.
Then Joshua turned back, at that time, and captured Hazor, and, the king thereof, smote he with the sword, —for, Hazor, aforetime, was the head of all these kingdoms.
11 Era ne batta buli muntu yenna eyakirimu ne watasigalawo n’omu ne Kazoli n’akyokya omuliro.
And they smote all the souls that were therein, with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, there was left no breathing thing, —and, Hazor, burned he up with fire.
12 Yoswa n’awamba ebibuga ebyo byonna ne bakabaka baabyo, n’abatta n’ebitala n’abazikiririza ddala nga Musa omuweereza wa Mukama bwe yalagira.
And, all the cities of these kings, and all the kings thereof, did Joshua capture, and he smote them with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, —as Moses, the servant of Yahweh, commanded.
13 Okuggyako Kazoli, ebibuga ebirala byonna ebyali bizimbiddwa ku bifunvu, Yoswa teyabyokya.
Yet, none of the cities that were still standing upon their mound, did Israel burn, none but Hazor alone, did Joshua burn.
14 Abaana ba Isirayiri ne beetwalira omunyago gwonna ogw’ebibuga bino n’ente, era ne batta buli muntu yenna ne babazikiriza awatali kusigala n’omu assa omukka.
But, all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, did the sons of Israel take as their prey, —nevertheless, all the human beings, smote they with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, they left remaining no breathing thing.
15 Nga Mukama bwe yalagira omuddu we Musa, bw’atyo Musa bwe yalagira Yoswa era ne Yoswa bwe yakola; talina kye yaleka takoze ku byonna Mukama bye yalagira Musa.
As Yahweh commanded Moses his servant, so, Moses commanded Joshua, and, so, Joshua, did, he set aside nothing of all that Yahweh commanded Moses.
16 Bw’atyo Yoswa n’awangula ensi yonna, n’ensi ey’ensozi n’ey’obugwanjuba yonna, n’ekitundu kya Goseni kyonna, ensi ey’ensenyi ne Alaba, n’ensi yaayo yonna ey’ensenyi.
So Joshua took all this land—the hill country, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the waste plain, —and the hill country of Israel, and the lowland thereof:
17 Okuva ku lusozi Kalaki, okulinnya okutuuka e Seyiri, n’okutuuka ku Baalugadi mu kiwonvu kya Lebanooni ekiri wansi w’olusozi Kerumooni ne bakabaka baayo bonna n’abawamba, n’abafumita, n’abatta.
from Mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even as far as Baal-gad, in the valley of the Lebanon, under Mount Hermon, —and, all their kings, he captured, and smote them, and put them to death.
18 Yoswa n’alumba n’alwana ne bakabaka abo bonna okumala ebbanga.
Many days, did Joshua, with all these kings, make war.
19 Tewali kibuga kyakola ndagaano ya mirembe n’abaana ba Isirayiri okuggyako Abakiivi abaali mu Gibyoni; byonna baabilwanyisa ne babiwangula,
There was not a city that made peace with the sons of Israel, save the Hivites dwelling in Gibeon, —the whole, took they in battle.
20 kubanga Mukama yennyini ye yakakanyaza emitima gyabwe balwane ne Isirayiri, alyoke abazikiririze ddala, abamalirewo ddala awatali kubakwatirwa kisa, nga Mukama bwe yalagira Musa.
For, from Yahweh, came it to pass, that their heart was emboldened to come out to war with Israel, that he might devote them to destruction, that they might find no favour, —but that he might destroy them, —as Yahweh commanded Moses.
21 Mu kiseera ekyo Yoswa n’agenda n’azikiriza n’amalawo Abanaki mu nsi ey’ensozi, mu Kebbulooni, ne mu Debiri, ne mu Anabu, ne mu nsi yonna ey’ensozi eya Yuda, ne mu nsi yonna ey’ensozi eya Isirayiri. Yoswa n’abazikiririza ddala, bonna n’ebibuga byabwe.
And Joshua came in, at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill country—from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel, —with their cities, did Joshua devote them to destruction.
22 Tewali Banaki baasigalawo mu nsi y’abaana ba Isirayiri, okuggyako mu Gaza, ne mu Gaasi, ne mu Asudodi, mwe mwasigalako abamu.
There was left remaining none of the Anakim, in the land of the sons of Israel, —save only, in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did some remain.
23 Yoswa bw’atyo bwe yatwala ensi yonna nga Mukama bwe yalagira Musa, n’agiwa abaana ba Isirayiri okuba omugabo nga bwe yayawulibwa mu bika byabwe. Olwo ensi n’ewummula entalo.
So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Yahweh had spoken unto Moses, and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel, according to their portions by their tribes, —and, the land, had rest from war.
