< Yona 2 >

1 Awo Yona n’asinziira mu kyennyanja n’asaba Mukama Katonda we, ng’agamba
Then prayed Jonah unto the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish.
2 nti, “Mu nnaku yange ennyingi nakaabirira Mukama n’anziramu; mu buziba ewala mu magombe nakukoowoola, era n’owulira eddoboozi lyange! (Sheol h7585)
And he said, I called from the midst of my distress unto the Lord, and he hath answered me: out of the depth of the grave have I cried, and thou hast heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 Kubanga wansuula ewala mu buziba mu nnyanja, ne nzika, amayengo gonna, ensozi n’ensozi z’amazzi ebikunta ne bimbikka ne binneetooloola.
For thou hast cast me into the deep, in the heart of the seas; and the stream compasseth me about: all thy billows and thy waves have passed over me.
4 Ne ndyoka njogera nti, ‘Ngobeddwa mu maaso go; Ddala ndiddayo nate okulaba yeekaalu yo entukuvu?’
And I thought indeed, I am driven out from before thy eyes: yet I again shall look toward thy holy temple.
5 Nakkira ddala ku ntobo wansi w’amayengo, okufa ne kumbeerera ddala kumpi; Amazzi nga ganneetoolodde era ng’omuddo gw’omu nnyanja gunneezingiridde ku mutwe.
The waters surrounded me, to the peril of my life; the deep compassed me about: sea-weeds were bound about my head.
6 Ne ŋŋendera ddala ku ntobo, ensozi z’omu nnyanja gye zisibuka, eyo, ensi n’ensibirayo emirembe n’emirembe. Naye ggwe Mukama Katonda wange, onzigye mu bunnya, Ayi Mukama Katonda wange.
To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth [closed] her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God!
7 “Bwe nnali nga mpweddemu essuubi, emmeeme yange ng’ezirika ne nkujjukira, Ayi Mukama Katonda. Awo okusaba kwange entakeera ne kutuuka mu yeekaalu yo entukuvu.
When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came unto thee, unto thy holy temple.
8 “Abo abassaayo omwoyo ku balubaale ne bakatonda abataliimu ne babasinza, beefiiriza okusaasirwa kwa Katonda okubalindiridde!
They that guard false vanities forsake [the source of] their kindness.
9 Naye nze, n’oluyimba olw’okukutendereza, ndikuwa ssaddaaka. Ddala ndituukiriza obweyamo bwange kubanga obulokozi buva eri Mukama Katonda.”
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed will I pay; [for] help is with the Lord.
10 Awo Mukama Katonda n’alagira ekyennyanja ne kiwandula Yona n’agwa ettale ku lukalu.
And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
