< Yokaana 5 >

1 Oluvannyuma Yesu n’addayo e Yerusaalemi abeewo ku emu ku mbaga z’Abayudaaya.
After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Munda mu Yerusaalemi, okumpi n’Omulyango gw’Endiga waliwo ekidiba ekiyitibwa Besusayida, mu Lwebbulaniya, ekyazimbibwako ebigango bitaano okukyetooloola.
Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, “Bethesda”, having five porches.
3 Mu bigango ebyo mwagalamirangamu abalwadde bangi nnyo: abalema, abazibe b’amaaso, n’abakoozimbye.
In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water;
4 Kubanga bwe waayitangawo ekiseera malayika wa Mukama n’ajja n’atabula amazzi ago, era omuntu eyasookanga okukka mu kidiba ng’amazzi gaakatabulwa, ng’awonyezebwa.
for an angel went down at certain times into the pool and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had.
5 Waaliwo omusajja eyali yaakalwalira emyaka amakumi asatu mu munaana.
A certain man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years.
6 Yesu bwe yamulaba n’amanya nga bw’amaze ebbanga eddene nga mulwadde, n’amubuuza nti, “Oyagala okuwonyezebwa?”
When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”
7 Omusajja omulwadde n’amuddamu nti, “Ssebo sirina muntu ayinza kunnyamba okunsuula mu kidiba ng’amazzi gaakatabulwa. Buli lwe ngezaako okukkamu we ntukirayo ng’omulala yansoose dda.”
The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
8 Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Situka ozingeko omukeeka gwo otambule.”
Jesus said to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.”
9 Amangwago omusajja n’awonyezebwa. N’azingako omukeeka gwe ne yeetambulira. Olunaku olwo lwali lwa Ssabbiiti.
Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked. Now that day was a Sabbath.
10 Abayudaaya kyebaava bagamba omusajja awonyezebbwa nti, “Toteekwa kwetikka mukeeka gwo ku Ssabbiiti, oba omenye etteeka lya Ssabbiiti.”
So the Jews said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”
11 Ye n’addamu nti, “Omuntu amponyezza y’aŋŋambye nti, ‘Situlawo omukeeka gwo otambule.’”
He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your mat and walk.’”
12 Ne bamubuuza nti, “Omuntu oyo ye ani eyakugambye okusitula omukeeka gwo otambule?”
Then they asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat and walk’?”
13 Kyokka omusajja eyawonyezebwa yali tamumanyi, kubanga Yesu yali abulidde mu bantu abangi abaali mu kifo ekyo.
But he who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.
14 Oluvannyuma lw’ebyo Yesu n’amulaba mu Yeekaalu, n’amugamba nti, “Kaakano oli mulamu, naye toddangamu okwonoona, akabi akasingawo kaleme okukutuukako.”
Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
15 Omuntu oyo n’agenda n’ategeeza Abayudaaya nti Yesu ye yamuwonya.
The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 Okuva olwo Abayudaaya ne batandika okuyigganya Yesu, kubanga yakolanga ebintu ebifaanana ng’ekyo ku Ssabbiiti.
For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.
17 Yesu n’abaddamu nti, “Kitange bulijjo akola, nange nteekwa okukola.”
But Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.”
18 Abayudaaya kyebaava beeyongera okusala amagezi okumutta, kubanga teyakoma ku kya kumenya mateeka ga Ssabbiiti kyokka, naye yeeyita Omwana wa Katonda, ne yeefuula eyenkanaankana ne Katonda.
For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Awo Yesu n’abagamba nti, “Ddala ddala mbagamba nti, Omwana taliiko ky’akola ku bubwe, wabula ekyo ky’alaba Kitaawe ng’akola. Kubanga ye by’akola n’Omwana by’akola.
Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
20 Kubanga Kitaawe w’Omwana ayagala Omwana we era amulaga ky’akola, era Omwana ajja kukola ebyamagero bingi ebyewuunyisa okusinga na bino.
For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
21 Kubanga nga Kitaawe w’Omwana bw’azuukiza abafu, bw’atyo n’Omwana awa obulamu abo baayagala.
For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires.
22 Era Kitaawe w’Omwana talina n’omu gw’asalira musango, naye obuyinza obw’okusala emisango gyonna yabuwa Omwana we,
For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son,
23 abantu bonna balyoke bassengamu Omwana ekitiibwa nga bwe bassa mu Kitaawe ekitiibwa. Atassaamu Mwana kitiibwa, ne Kitaawe eyamutuma tamussaamu kitiibwa.
that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
24 “Ddala ddala mbagamba nti, Awulira ebigambo byange, n’akkiriza eyantuma, aba n’obulamu obutaggwaawo, era talisingibwa musango, kubanga aliba avudde mu kuzikirira ng’atuuse mu bulamu. (aiōnios g166)
"Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has consummate (aiōnios g166) life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
25 Ddala ddala mbagamba nti, Ekiseera kijja, era kituuse, abafu lwe baliwulira eddoboozi ly’Omwana wa Katonda, era n’abaliwulira baliba balamu.
Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live.
26 Kubanga nga Kitaawe w’Omwana bw’alina obulamu mu ye, bw’atyo bwe yawa Omwana okuba n’obulamu mu ye,
For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself.
27 era yamuwa obuyinza okusalira abantu emisango, kubanga ye Mwana w’Omuntu.
He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.
28 “Ekyo tekibeewuunyisa, kubanga ekiseera kijja abafu abali mu ntaana lwe baliwulira eddoboozi lye
Do not marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice
29 ne bavaamu kubanga be baakola ebintu ebirungi, era balifuna obulamu obutaggwaawo, naye abo abaakolanga ebibi balizuukira ne babonerezebwa.
and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.
30 Kyokka Nze siyinza kukola kintu kyonna ku bwange. Kitange nga bw’aŋŋamba bwe nkola, era n’omusango gwe nsala gwa nsonga kubanga sinoonya bye njagala nze, wabula eyantuma by’ayagala.
I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is righteous, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
31 Singa nneeyogerako nzekka, bye nneyogerako tebiba bya mazima.
“If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid.
32 Waliwo ategeeza gwe ndi, era mmanyi nga bya njogerako bya mazima.
It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.
33 “Mmwe mwatuma ababaka eri Yokaana, era ayogedde eby’amazima.
You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.
34 Ebigambo ebinkakasa tebiva mu muntu, naye ebyo mbyogera mulyoke mulokolebwe.
But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved.
35 Oyo ye yali ettaala eyayaka okubaleetera ekitangaala, ne musalawo mubeere mu kitangaala ekyo akaseera katono.
He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
36 “Naye nnina ebinkakasa okukira ebyo ebya Yokaana, bye byamagero bye nkola, Kitange bye yampa, era bikakasa nti Kitange ye yantuma
But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.
37 ne Kitange yennyini eyantuma akakasa ebinkwatako. Temuwuliranga ku ddoboozi lye wadde okulaba ekifaananyi kye.
The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
38 N’ekigambo kye tekiri mu mmwe, kubanga temukkiriza oyo gwe yatuma.
You do not have his word living in you, because you do not believe him whom he sent.
39 Munoonya mu Byawandiikibwa kubanga mulowooza nti muyinza okubifuniramu obulamu obutaggwaawo. Kyokka Ebyawandiikibwa ebyo bye binjulira. (aiōnios g166)
"You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have consummate (aiōnios g166) life; and these are they which testify about me.
40 Naye temwagala kujja gye ndi mulyoke mufune obulamu obutaggwaawo.
Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.
41 “Sinoonya kusiimibwa bantu.
I do not receive glory from men.
42 Naye mmwe mbamanyi temuliimu kwagala kwa Katonda.
But I know you, that you do not have God’s love in yourselves.
43 Nzize mu linnya lya Kitange ne mutannyaniriza. Omulala bw’anajja ku bubwe oyo mujja kumwaniriza.
I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.
44 Kale muyinza mutya okukkiriza nga munoonya kusiimibwa bantu bannammwe, so nga temunoonya kusiimibwa Katonda oyo Omu yekka?
How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?
45 “Naye temulowooza nti ndibawawaabira eri Kitange. Abawawaabira ye Musa, mmwe gwe mulinamu essuubi.
“Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.
46 Singa Musa mumukkiriza, nange mwandinzikirizza, kubanga yampandiikako.
For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.
47 Kale obanga temukkiriza bye yawandiika, munakkiriza mutya ebigambo byange?”
But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
