< Yobu 4 >
1 Awo Erifaazi Omutemani n’ayanukula ng’agamba nti,
And Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 “Omuntu bw’anaayogera naawe onoonyiiga? Naye ani ayinza okusirika obusirisi?
If a word were essayed to thee, wouldest thou be grieved? But who can refrain from speaking?
3 Laba, wayigiriza bangi, emikono eminafu wagizzaamu amaanyi.
Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands;
4 Ebigambo byo byanyweza abaali bagwa, era ng’ozzaamu amaanyi amaviivi agaali gakankana.
Thy words have upholden him that was stumbling, and thou hast braced up the bending knees:
5 Naye kaakano kikutuuseeko, oweddemu amaanyi; kikutte ku ggwe n’oggwaawo!
But now it is come upon thee, and thou grievest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
6 Okutya Katonda wo si bwe bwesige bwo, n’obwesimbu bwo si ly’essuubi lyo?
Hath not thy piety been thy confidence, and the perfection of thy ways thy hope?
7 “Kaakano lowooza; ani ataliiko musango eyali azikiridde? Oba wa abatuukirivu gye baali bamaliddwawo?
Remember, I pray thee, who that was innocent has perished? and where were the upright cut off?
8 Okusinziira ku kyendabye; abo abateekateeka okukola ebibi era ne basiga ebitali bya butuukirivu, bakungula bizibu.
Even as I have seen, they that plough iniquity and sow mischief, reap the same.
9 Bazikirizibwa omukka Katonda gw’assa, bamalibwawo obusungu bwe.
By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his nostrils are they consumed.
10 Okuwuluguma kw’empologoma, n’eddoboozi ly’empologoma enkambwe, n’amannyo g’empologoma ento gamenyeka.
The roar of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken;
11 Empologoma ey’amaanyi ezikirira olw’okubulwa omuyiggo, n’obwana bw’empologoma busaasaana.
The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the whelps of the lioness are scattered.
12 “Nategeezebwa ekigambo eky’ekyama, ne nkitegera okutu.
Now to me a word was secretly brought, and mine ear received a whisper thereof.
13 Wakati mu birowoozo n’okwolesebwa kw’ekiro ng’otulo otungi tukutte omuntu,
In thoughts from visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men: —
14 okutya n’okukankana byankwata ne bireetera amagumba gange okunyegenya.
Fear came on me, and trembling, and made all my bones to shake;
15 Omwoyo gw’ayita mu maaso gange, obwoya bw’oku mubiri gwange ne buyimirira.
And a spirit passed before my face — the hair of my flesh stood up —
16 Ne buyimirira butengerera, naye saasobola kwetegereza ndabika yaabwo, n’ekifaananyi kyali mu maaso gange, ne wabaawo akasiriikiriro, ne ndyoka mpulira eddoboozi nga ligamba nti,
It stood still; I could not discern the appearance thereof: a form was before mine eyes; I heard a slight murmur and a voice:
17 ‘Omuntu afa ayinza okuba omutuukirivu okusinga Katonda? Omuntu ayinza okuba omulongoofu okusinga Omutonzi we?
Shall [mortal] man be more just than God? Shall a man be purer than his Maker?
18 Obanga abaddu be tabeesiga, nga bamalayika be abalanga ensobi
Lo, he trusteth not his servants, and his angels he chargeth with folly:
19 kale kiriba kitya, abo abasula mu z’ebbumba ezirina emisingi egiri mu nfuufu, ababetentebwa n’okusinga ekiwojjolo?
How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed as the moth!
20 Bamalibwawo wakati w’amakya n’akawungeezi, bazikirira emirembe n’emirembe awatali abafaako.
From morning to evening are they smitten: without any heeding it, they perish for ever.
21 Omuguwa gwa weema yaabwe gusimbulwa munda, ne bafa ng’abasirusiru.’”
Is not their tent-cord torn away in them? they die, and without wisdom.
