< Yobu 28 >

1 “Ddala ddala waliwo ebirombe mwe basima effeeza, n’ekifo gye balongooseza effeeza.
For truly there is a source for the silver, and a place for the gold which men refine.
2 Ekyuma kisimibwa mu ttaka, n’ekikomo ne bakisaanuusa okukiggya mu mayinja.
Iron is taken out of the dust, and the stone is melted into copper.
3 Omuntu agoberera enzikiza n’anoonya eyo mu ttaka wansi, asime ekyuma mu kizikiza ekiri wansi ennyo.
An end doth he set to darkness, and the very utmost limit doth he search out, the stones of darkness, and of the shadow of death.
4 Asima ekinnya ekiri ewala n’abantu gye babeera, mu bifo eteyita bantu, ewala okuva abantu gye bayita.
He breaketh a channel far from the inhabited place; those of unsteady foot, the poorest of men move [there about].
5 Ensi evaamu emmere, naye wansi waayo yafuusibwa nga muliro.
The earth, out of which cometh forth bread, is under its surface turned up as it were with fire.
6 Safira eva mu mayinja gaayo, era enfuufu yaayo erimu zaabu.
Her stones are the place whence the sapphire cometh; and golden dust is also there;
7 Tewali kinyonyi kiyizzi kimanyi kkubo lino, wadde n’amaaso ga kamunye tegarirabanga.
[On the] path which no bird of prey knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not surveyed;
8 Ekibinja ky’empologoma ento tekituukangayo, tewali mpologoma yali eyiseeyo.
[Which] ravenous beasts have never trodden, over which the lion hath never passed.
9 Omuntu ayasa n’omukono gwe ejjinja ery’embaalebaale, n’avuunika ensozi okuviira ddala we zisibuka.
To the flinty rock he stretcheth forth his hand; he overturneth the mountains from the root.
10 Asima ensalosalo ku njazi; n’amaaso ge galaba eby’omuwendo byonna.
Amid rocks he heweth out canals: and every precious thing doth his eye behold.
11 Anoonya wansi mu migga, n’aggyayo ebintu ebyakwekebwa.
The various droppings of water he uniteth into streams, and what is hidden he bringeth forth to light.
12 “Naye amagezi gasangibwa wa? Okutegeera kuva wa?
But wisdom—where shall she he found? and where is the place of understanding?
13 Omuntu tayinza kutegeera mugaso gwago; tegasangibwa mu nsi y’abalamu.
Man knoweth not her value: and she is not to be found in the land of the living.
14 Obuziba bwogera nti, ‘Tegali mu nze,’ ennyanja eyogera nti, ‘Tegali mu nze.’
The deep saith, Not in me is she: and the sea saith, She is not with me.
15 Tegayinza kugulibwa na zaabu asingayo obulungi, wadde omuwendo gwago okupimibwa mu ffeeza.
No fine gold can be given in lieu of her, and silver cannot be weighed out as her price.
16 Tegayinza kugulibwa na zaabu wa Ofiri, mu mayinja ag’omuwendo aga onuku oba safiro.
She cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
17 Zaabu n’endabirwamu tebiyinza kugenkana: so tegayinza kugeraageranyizibwa n’amayinja ag’omuwendo.
She cannot be estimated after gold and glass; and not in exchange for her [can] vessels of refined gold [be taken.]
18 Kolali n’amayinja ag’endabirwamu tebyogerwa nako; omuwendo ogugula amagezi gusinga amayinja amatwakaavu.
Coral and crystal will not be thought of; and the value of wisdom is above pearls.
19 Topazi eva mu Esiyopya teyinza kugenkana, tegayinza wadde okugulibwa mu zaabu etetabikiddwamu kantu konna.
She cannot be estimated after the topaz of Ethiopia, nor can she be valued with pure gold.
20 “Kale amagezi gava ludda wa? N’okutegeera kubeera ludda wa?
But wisdom—whence cometh she? and where is the place of understanding?
21 Gakwekebwa okuva mu maaso g’ebintu byonna ebiramu, era gakwekeddwa ebinyonyi by’omu bbanga.
Yea, she is hidden from the eyes of all living, and from the fowls of the heavens is she concealed.
22 Okuzikiriza n’Okufa kwogera nti, ‘Nawulirako buwulizi ku lugambo lwakwo mu matu gange.’
Perdition and death say, With our ears have we heard a report of her.
23 Katonda ategeera ekkubo erigatuukako era ye yekka y’amanyi gye gabeera,
God [alone] understandeth her way, and he knoweth her place;
24 kubanga alaba enkomerero y’ensi era alaba ebintu byonna wansi w’eggulu.
For he looketh to the ends of the earth, [whatever is] under the whole heaven doth he see.
25 Bwe yateekawo amaanyi g’empewo, n’apima n’amazzi,
When he imparted weight unto the wind; and [when] the waters he established by measure;
26 bwe yateekera enkuba etteeka era n’ekkubo eggulu we linaayitanga nga limyansa,
When he made a law for the rain, and a way for the lightning of [his] thunders;
27 olwo n’atunuulira amagezi n’agalangirira; n’agateekawo, n’agagezesa.
Then did he see her, and make her known; he established her, and also searched her out.
28 N’agamba omuntu nti, ‘Laba, okutya Mukama, ge magezi, n’okuleka ekibi, kwe kutegeera.’”
And he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to eschew evil is understanding.
