< Yobu 21 >

1 Awo Yobu n’addamu n’ayogera nti,
Then Job answered:
2 “Muwulirize n’obwegendereza ebigambo byange, era kino kibazzeemu amaanyi.
“Listen carefully to my words; let this be your consolation to me.
3 Mungumiikirizeeko nga njogera, oluvannyuma museke.
Bear with me while I speak; then, after I have spoken, you may go on mocking.
4 “Okwemulugunya kwange nkw’olekezza muntu? Lwaki okugumiikiriza tekunzigwako?
Is my complaint against a man? Then why should I not be impatient?
5 Muntunuulire mwewuunye, mujja kukwata ne ku mumwa.
Look at me and be appalled; put your hand over your mouth.
6 Bwe ndowooza ku kino, nfuna entiisa; omubiri gwange ne gukankana.
When I remember, terror takes hold, and my body trembles in horror.
7 Lwaki abakozi b’ebibi bawangaala, ne bakaddiwa ne beeyongera n’amaanyi?
Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?
8 Balaba abaana baabwe bwe banywezebbwa, ezzadde lyabwe nga balaba.
Their descendants are established around them, and their offspring before their eyes.
9 Amaka gaabwe gaba n’emirembe nga temuli kutya; omuggo gwa Katonda tegubabeerako.
Their homes are safe from fear; no rod of punishment from God is upon them.
10 Ennume zaabwe teziremererwa, ente zaabwe enkazi zizaala awatali kusowola mwana gwazo.
Their bulls breed without fail; their cows bear calves and do not miscarry.
11 Abaana baabwe bagendera wamu nga kisibo; obuto ne bubeera mu kuzina.
They send forth their little ones like a flock; their children skip about,
12 Bayimbira ku bitaasa n’ennanga, ne basanyukira eddoboozi ly’omulere.
singing to the tambourine and lyre and making merry at the sound of the flute.
13 Emyaka gyabwe gyonna babeera bulungi, mangwago ne bakka mu ntaana. (Sheol h7585)
They spend their days in prosperity and go down to Sheol in peace. (Sheol h7585)
14 Kyokka bagamba Katonda nti, ‘Tulekere emirembe gyaffe! Tetwegomba kumanya makubo go.
Yet they say to God: ‘Leave us alone! For we have no desire to know Your ways.
15 Ayinzabyonna ye ani tulyoke tumuweereze? Kiki kye tuganyulwa bwe tumusaba?’
Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, and what would we gain if we pray to Him?’
16 Naye obugagga bwabwe tebuli mu mikono gyabwe, noolwekyo amagezi g’abakozi b’ebibi ganneewunyisa.
Still, their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stay far from the counsel of the wicked.
17 “Ettaala y’abakozi b’ebibi yo, ezikira emirundi emeka? Ennaku ebajjira emirundi emeka? Katonda abatuusaako obulumi, ng’abasunguwalidde.
How often is the lamp of the wicked put out? Does disaster come upon them? Does God, in His anger, apportion destruction?
18 Bali ng’ebisasiro ebitwaalibwa empewo; ng’ebisusunku embuyaga bye zitwala.
Are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a storm?
19 Katonda abonereza abaana olw’ekibi kya bakitaabwe. Asasule omuntu yennyini oyo alyoke ategeere!
It is said that God lays up one’s punishment for his children. Let God repay the man himself, so he will know it.
20 Leka amaaso ge ye yennyini galabe okuzikirira; leka anywe ku kiruyi kya Ayinzabyonna.
Let his eyes see his own destruction; let him drink for himself the wrath of the Almighty.
21 Kubanga aba afaayo ki ku maka g’aba alese, nga emyezi gye egyamutegekerwa giweddeko?
For what does he care about his household after him, when the number of his months has run out?
22 “Eriyo ayinza okuyigiriza Katonda amagezi, kubanga asalira omusango n’abo abasinga okuba aba waggulu?
Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since He judges those on high?
23 Omusajja omu afiira w’abeerera ow’amaanyi, nga munywevu ddala ali mu mirembe gye,
One man dies full of vigor, completely secure and at ease.
24 omubiri gwe nga guliisiddwa bulungi, amagumba ge nga gajjudde obusomyo.
His body is well nourished, and his bones are rich with marrow.
25 Omusajja omulala n’afa ng’alina obulumi ku mutima, nga teyafuna kintu kyonna kirungi.
Yet another man dies in the bitterness of his soul, having never tasted prosperity.
26 Ne beebaka kye kimu mu ttaka, envunyu ne zibabikka bombi.
But together they lie down in the dust, and worms cover them both.
27 “Mmanyi bulungi ddala kye mulowooza, enkwe ze mwagala okunsalira.
Behold, I know your thoughts full well, the schemes by which you would wrong me.
28 Mugamba nti, ‘Kaakano eruwa ennyumba y’omusajja ow’amaanyi, eweema abasajja abakozi b’ebibi mwe baabeeranga?’
For you say, ‘Where now is the nobleman’s house, and where are the tents in which the wicked dwell?’
29 Temwebuuzanga ku abo abatambula eŋŋendo? Temukkiriza bye babagamba,
Have you never asked those who travel the roads? Do you not accept their reports?
30 nti omusajja omukozi w’ebibi awona ku lunaku olw’emitawaana, era awona ku lunaku olw’ekiruyi?
Indeed, the evil man is spared from the day of calamity, delivered from the day of wrath.
31 Ani avumirira ebikolwa bye maaso ku maaso, ani amusasula ebyo by’akoze?
Who denounces his behavior to his face? Who repays him for what he has done?
32 Atwalibwa ku ntaana, era amalaalo ge gakuumibwa.
He is carried to the grave, and watch is kept over his tomb.
33 Ettaka eriri mu lusenyi limuwoomera, abantu bonna bamugoberera, n’abalala abatamanyiddwa muwendo ne bamukulembera.
The clods of the valley are sweet to him; everyone follows behind him, and those before him are without number.
34 “Kaakano musobola mutya okuŋŋumya n’ebitaliimu? Tewali kisigaddeyo ku bye mwanzizeemu wabula obulimba!”
So how can you comfort me with empty words? For your answers remain full of falsehood.”
