< Yakobo 3 >
1 Abooluganda, abayigiriza tebasaanye kubeera bangi mu mmwe, kubanga mukimanyi nga ffe tulisalirwa omusango munene okusinga abalala.
My brethren, be not many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
2 Ffenna tusobya mu ngeri nnyingi. Omuntu yenna atasobya mu kwogera, aba muntu eyatuukirira, asobola okufuga omubiri gwe gwonna.
For in many things we all offend. If any man offendeth not in word, the same [is] a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
3 Tuyinza okufuga embalaasi ne tugikozesa kye twagala olw’ebyuma bye tuba tutadde mu kamwa kaayo.
Behold, we put bits in the mouths of horses, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Era n’enkasi entono esobola okukyusa ekyombo ekinene ennyo n’ekiraza omugoba waakyo gy’ayagala, newaakubadde ng’empewo ekisindika ebeera ya maanyi mangi.
Behold also the ships, which though they are so great, and [are] driven by fierce winds, yet they are turned about with a very small helm, withersoever the governor willeth.
5 N’olulimi bwe lutyo, newaakubadde nga kantu katono, lwenyumiriza nnyo. Akaliro akatono kasobola okukoleeza ekibira ekinene ne kiggya.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 Olulimi nalwo muliro. Lujjudde obutali butuukirivu bungi okusinga ebitundu ebirala eby’omubiri gwaffe. Lwo omuliro luguggya mu ggeyeena, ne lulyoka lukoleeza omubiri gw’omuntu gwonna ne gwaka ng’oluyiira okumutuusa mu kuzikirira. (Geenna )
And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire from hell. (Geenna )
7 Abantu, ebisolo ebya buli ngeri n’ennyonyi, n’ebyekulula, era n’eby’omu nnyanja basobola okubiyigiriza ne babifuga,
For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of animals in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind:
8 naye tewali muntu n’omu asobola kufuga lulimi. Terufugika era lubi nnyo, lujjudde obutwa obuttirawo.
But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Olulimi tulukozesa okutendereza Mukama era Kitaffe, ate era lwe tukolimiza abantu abaatondebwa mu kifaananyi kya Katonda.
With this we bless God, even the Father; and with this we curse men, who are made after the similitude of God.
10 Mu kamwa ke kamu ne muvaamu okutendereza n’okukolima. Abooluganda, kino si bwe kyandibadde bwe kityo!
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Ensulo y’emu eyinza okuvaamu amazzi agawoomerera n’agakaawa?
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet [water] and bitter?
12 Abooluganda omutiini guyinza okubala ezeyituuni, oba omuzabbibu okubala ettiini? Bw’etyo n’ensulo y’emu teyinza kuvaamu mazzi ga munnyo na gawoomerera.
Can the fig-tree, my brethren, bear olive-berries? or a vine, figs? so no fountain [can] yield both salt water and fresh.
13 Ani alina amagezi n’okutegeera mu mmwe? Kale abiragirenga mu mpisa ze ennungi ng’akola ebikolwa eby’obwetoowaze eby’amagezi.
Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show by a good deportment his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 Bwe muba n’omutima omukyayi ogujjudde n’obuggya, era nga mwefaako mwekka, temusaanidde kwewaana na kulimba nga mukontana n’amazima.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 Kubanga amagezi ng’ago tegava eri Katonda mu ggulu wabula ga ku nsi, era si ga mwoyo wazira ga Setaani.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, demoniacal.
16 Kubanga buli awabeera obuggya n’okwefaako wekka, wabeerawo okutabukatabuka era n’ebikolwa ebirala ebibi byonna.
For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.
17 Naye amagezi agava mu ggulu okusooka byonna malongoofu, era ga mirembe, gafaayo ku bantu abalala, mawulize, gajjudde okusaasira n’ebibala ebirungi, tegasosola mu bantu, era si gannanfuusi.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 Era ekibala eky’obutuukirivu kiva mu abo abakolerera emirembe.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by them that make peace.
