< Olubereberye 4 >
1 Adamu n’amanya Kaawa, mukazi we, n’aba olubuto n’azaala Kayini n’agamba nti, “Mukama annyambye nzadde omuntu.”
Now, the man, having come to know Eve his wife, —she conceived and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a Man, even Yahweh!
2 Oluvannyuma n’azaala muganda we Aberi. Aberi n’aba mulunzi, ye Kayini n’abeera mulimi.
And she went on to bear his brother, Abel, —and Abel became a feeder of sheep, whereas Cain, was a tiller of the round.
3 Awo ennaku bwe zaayitawo Kayini n’alyoka aleeta ebibala by’ebimera ebyava mu ttaka okubiwaayo eri Mukama.
So it came to pass, after certain days, that Cain brought in of the fruit of the ground, a present to Yahweh:
4 Aberi naye n’aleeta ku baana b’endiga ze ababereberye n’amasavu gaazo. Mukama n’asiima Aberi n’ekiweebwayo kye.
Abel, also, even, he, brought in of the firstlings of his sheep, and of their fat, and Yahweh approved of Abel and of his present;
5 Naye teyasiima Kayini wadde ekiweebwayo kye. Awo Kayini n’asunguwala nnyo, n’endabika y’amaaso ge n’ewaanyisibwa.
but of Cain and his present, he approved not, —and it angered Cain greatly, and his countenance fell.
6 Mukama n’abuuza Kayini nti, “Osunguwalidde ki? Era n’endabika y’amaaso go lwaki ewaanyisiddwa?
So then Yahweh said unto Cain, —Wherefore hath it angered thee, and wherefore hath thy countenance fallen?
7 Bw’onookolanga obulungi tokkirizibwenga? Naye bw’otokole bulungi ekibi, kiri kumpi naawe, nga kikulindiridde, naye oteekwa okukiwangula.”
Shall it not, if thou do right, be lifted up? But if thou do not right, at the entrance a sin-bearer is lying, —Unto thee, moreover, shall be his longing, though, thou, rule over him.
8 Kayini n’agamba Aberi muganda we nti, “Tulageko mu nnimiro.” Bwe baali nga bali mu nnimiro Kayini n’agolokokera ku muganda we Aberi, n’amutta.
And Cain said unto Abel his brother Let us go into the field And it came to pass when they were in the field that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9 Awo Mukama n’abuuza Kayini nti, “Muganda wo Aberi ali ludda wa?” N’amuddamu nti, “Ssimanyi; nze mukuumi wa muganda wange?”
Then said Yahweh unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said I know not, the keeper of my brother, am, I?
10 Mukama n’amugamba nti, “Okoze ki? Eddoboozi ly’omusaayi gwa muganda wo oguyiyiddwa ku ttaka linkaabirira.
And he said, What hast thou done? With a voice, the shed-blood of thy brother is crying out to me from the ground,
11 Ne kaakano okolimiddwa, era ettaka lyasamye okumira omusaayi gwa muganda wo gwe wasse.
Now therefore, accursed, art thou, —from the ground which hath opened her mouth, to receive the shed-blood of thy brother at thy hand.
12 Bw’onoolimanga ettaka teriikuwenga bibala byalyo; onoobanga momboze ku nsi.”
Though thou till the ground, it shall not go on to give its vigour to thee. A wanderer and a fugitive, shalt thou be in the earth.
13 Kayini n’agamba Mukama nti, “Ekibonerezo kyange kinzitooweredde sikisobola.
And Cain said unto Yahweh—Greater is my punishment than I can bear.
14 Laba, ongobye okuva ku nsi ne mu maaso go; era nnaabanga momboze ne buli anandaba ananzita.”
Lo! thou has driven me out, this day, from off the face of the ground And from thy face, shall I be hid, So shall I become a wanderer and a fugitive in the earth. And it shall come to pass, whosoever findeth me, will slay me.
15 Awo Mukama n’amugamba nti, “Nedda si bwe kiri. Buli alitta Kayini ndimuwalana emirundi musanvu.” Awo Mukama n’ateeka akabonero ku Kayini, buli amulaba aleme okumutta.
And Yahweh said to him—Not so, whosoever slayeth Cain seven—fold, shall it be avenged. So Yahweh set, for Cain, a sign, that none finding him should smite him.
16 Kayini n’alyoka ava mu maaso ga Mukama, n’abeera mu nsi ya Enodi ku luuyi olw’ebuvanjuba olwa Adeni.
So Cain went forth from the presence of Yahweh, —and dwelt in the land of Nod, eastward of Eden.
17 Kayini n’amanya mukazi we, n’aba olubuto n’azaala Enoka. Kayini n’azimba ekibuga n’akituuma erinnya lyerimu erya mutabani we Enoka.
And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived, and bare Enoch, —Now it happened that he was building a city, so he called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18 Enoka n’azaalirwa Iradi ne Iradi n’azaala Mekujeeri, ne Mekujeeri n’azaala Mesuseera, ne Mesuseera n’azaala Lameka.
And there was born to Enoch Irad, and, Irad, begat Mehujael, —and Mehujael, begat Methusael, —and Methusael, begat Lamech.
19 Lameka n’awasa abakazi babiri: omu yali Ada n’omulala nga ye Zira.
And Lamech took to himself two wives, —the name of the one, was Adah, and, the name of the second Zillah.
20 Ada n’azaala Yabali. Ono ye yali kitaawe w’abo ababeera mu weema nga balunda.
And Adah bare Jabal, —he, was father of such as dwell in tents, and have cattle;
21 Muganda we Yubali, ye yazaala abo abakuba ennanga n’okufuuwa omulere.
and, the name of his brother, was Jubal, —he, was father of everyone handling lyre and flute,
22 Zira n’azaala Tubalukayini omuweesi w’eby’ekikomo n’eby’ekyuma. Ne mwannyina wa Tubalukayini nga ye Naama.
And, as for Zillah, she also, bare Tubal-Cain, a sharpener of every cutting instrument of bronze and iron, —and, the sister of Tubal-Cain, was Naamah.
23 Lameka n’agamba bakazi be nti, “Ada ne Zira, muwulire eddoboozi lyange; mwe bakazi ba Lameka, muwulirize kye ŋŋamba; nzise omusajja olw’okunfumita, nga muvubuka, olw’okunkuba.
Then said Lamech to his wives, Adah and Zillah! hear ye my voice, Ye wives of Lamech! give ear to my tale, For a man, have I slain in dealing my wounds, Yea, a youth, in smiting my blows:
24 Obanga Kayini yawalanirwa emirundi musanvu, mazima Lameka wa kuwalanirwa emirundi nsanvu mu musanvu.”
If, sevenfold, be, the avenging of Cain, Then, of Lamech, seventy and seven.
25 Awo Adamu n’amanya mukazi we, n’azaala omwana wabulenzi n’amutuuma Seezi, kubanga yayogera nti, “Katonda ampadde omwana omulala mu kifo kya Aberi, Kayini gwe yatta.”
And Adam again knew his wife, and she bare a son, and called his name Seth, —For God hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, because Cain slew him!
26 Seezi n’azaala omwana owoobulenzi n’amutuuma Enosi. Mu kiseera ekyo abantu ne batandika okukoowoola erinnya lya Mukama.
And to Seth—to him also, was born a son, and he called his name Enosh, —then, was a beginning made, to call on the name of Yahweh.
