< Olubereberye 21 >

1 Awo Mukama n’akwatirwa Saala ekisa nga bwe yagamba Ibulayimu, era n’akolera Saala kye yasuubiza.
Now, Yahweh, visited Sarah, as he had said, —And Yahweh did for Sarah as he had spoken.
2 Saala n’aba olubuto, n’azaalira Ibulayimu omwana owoobulenzi mu bukadde bwe, mu kiseera Katonda kye yamugamba.
So, Sarah, conceived and bare, to Abraham, a son, for his old age, at the set time, of which God had spoken with him.
3 Ibulayimu n’atuuma omwana owoobulenzi, eyamuzaalirwa Saala, erinnya Isaaka.
And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom, Sarah, bare to him, Isaac.
4 Ibulayimu n’akomola mutabani we Isaaka ow’ennaku omunaana ez’obukulu nga Katonda bwe yamulagira.
And Abraham circumcised Isaac his son, when eight days old, —as God commanded him.
5 Ibulayimu yali aweza emyaka kikumi mutabani we Isaaka bwe yazaalibwa.
Now Abraham was a hundred years old, —when Isaac his son was born to him.
6 Saala n’agamba nti, “Katonda andeetedde okusekererwa, buli anaawulira anansekerera.”
And Sarah said, A laughing, hath God made for me, —Everyone that heareth will laugh with me.
7 Era n’agamba nti, “Ani yandirowoozezza nti Saala alifuna omwana? Naye, laba mmuzaalidde omwana wabulenzi.”
And she said—Who would have announced to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled children? yet have I borne a son, for his old age!
8 Isaaka n’akula, n’aggyibwa ku mabeere, Ibulayimu n’afumba embaga ennene ku lunaku Isaaka lwe yaggyibwa ku mabeere.
And the child grew, and was weaned, —and Abraham made a great banquet, on the day of the weaning of Isaac.
9 Naye Saala yalaba nga mutabani wa Agali Omumisiri, gwe yazaalira Ibulayimu ng’azannya ne mutabani we Isaaka.
And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian woman whom she had borne to Abraham laughing!
10 N’alyoka agamba Ibulayimu nti, “Goba omuweereza ono ne mutabani we, kubanga omwana w’omuweereza ono talisikira wamu na mwana wange Isaaka.”
So she said to Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son, —for the son of this bondwoman must not inherit with my son with Isaac.
11 Naye ekyo Ibulayimu n’atakisiima.
And the word was very grievous in the eyes of Abraham, —on account of his son.
12 Katonda n’agamba Ibulayimu nti, “Tonakuwala olw’omulenzi n’olw’omuweereza wo omukazi, buli Saala ky’akugamba kikole; kubanga mu Isaaka mwe ndituukiririza ebyo byonna bye nakusuubiza.
And God said unto Abraham Let it not be grievous in thine eyes concerning the boy and concerning thy bondwoman, In all that Sarah may say unto thee, hearken to her voice, —For in Isaac, shall there be called to thee—a seed.
13 Era n’omwana w’omuweereza wo omukazi ndimufuula eggwanga, kubanga ava mu ggwe.”
Yet even the son of the bondwoman, will I appoint to become, a nation, because thy seed, he is.
14 Ibulayimu n’agolokoka ku makya ennyo, n’addira omugaati n’ensawo ey’amazzi n’abiwa Agali n’omwana gwe yazaala ng’abiteeka ku kibegabega kye, n’amusiibula. Agali n’agenda ng’atambulatambula mu ddungu lya Beeruseba.
So Abraham rose up early in the morning—and took bread and a skin of water and gave unto hagar, —putting them on her shoulder and the child, and sent her forth, —so she went her way and wandered, in the desert of Beer-sheba.
15 Awo amazzi ag’omu ddiba bwe gaggwaamu, Agali n’ateeka omwana we wansi w’ogumu ku miti.
And the water out of the skin was spent, —so she cast the child under one of the shrubs;
16 Agali ne yeeyongerayo ebbanga ng’awalasibwa akasaale, nga mita kikumi, n’atuula okumwolekera, kubanga yayogera nti, “Nneme okulaba omwana ng’afa.” Naye bwe yali ng’atudde, omwana n’ayimusa eddoboozi n’akaaba.
and went and sat her down over against him at a distance like as of such as draw the bow, for she said Let me not look upon the death of the child, —So she sat down over against him, and the boy lifted up his voice, and wept
17 Katonda n’awulira eddoboozi ly’omulenzi ng’akaaba, malayika wa Katonda n’ayita Agali ng’asinziira mu ggulu n’amugamba nti, “Kiki ekikuteganya? Totya, kubanga Katonda awulidde eddoboozi ly’omulenzi w’ali.
And God heard the voice of the boy, and a messenger of God called unto Hagar out of the heavens; and said to her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Do not fear, for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the boy where he is.
18 Golokoka, situla omwana omunyweze mu mikono gyo, kubanga ndimufuula eggwanga eddene.”
Arise lift up the boy, and hold him up with thy hand, —for, a great nation, will I make him.
19 Awo Katonda n’azibula amaaso g’Agali, n’alaba oluzzi, n’agenda n’ajjuza ensawo ey’eddiba amazzi, n’anywesa omulenzi.
And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water, —and went and filled the skin with water, and gave drink unto the boy
20 Awo Katonda n’aba n’omulenzi n’akula n’abeera mu ddungu n’aba mwatiikirivu mu kulasa.
And it came to pass that God was with the boy, and he grew, —and dwelt in the desert, and he became as he grew up, an archer,
21 Yabeeranga mu ddungu lya Palani: nnyina n’amufunira omukazi okuva mu nsi y’e Misiri.
And he dwelt in the desert of Paran, —and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
22 Mu kiseera ekyo Abimereki ng’ali ne Fikoli omukulu w’eggye lye n’agamba Ibulayimu nti, “Katonda ali naawe mu buli ky’okola:
And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech, with Phicol chieftain of his host, spake unto Abraham, saying, —God, is with thee in all that, thou art doing.
23 kale kaakano ndayirira mu maaso ga Katonda nga tolinkuusakuusa, wadde okukuusakuusa omwana wange oba omwana w’omwana wange. Naye nga nze bwe nkukoze obulungi nga naawe bw’olinkola nze n’ensi mw’ozze.”
Now, therefore, swear to me by God, here, that thou wilt not deal falsely by me, nor by mine offspring, nor by my descendants, —according to the lovingkindness wherewith I have dealt with thee, shalt thou deal with me, and with the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
24 Ne Ibulayimu n’amuddamu nti, “Nkulayiridde.”
And Abraham said, I, will swear.
25 Awo Ibulayimu ne yeemulugunya eri Abimereki olw’oluzzi lwe abaddu be lwe baamunyagako.
But Abraham reproved Abimelech, —on account of the well of water, which the servants of Abimelech had seized.
26 Abimereki n’amugamba nti, “Simanyi n’omu eyakola ekintu ekyo, ggwe tewambulira era sikiwulirangako okutuusa ggwe lw’okintegeezeezza olwa leero.”
And Abimelech said, I know not, who hath done this thing, —nor hast even thou, ever told me, nor have even I, ever heard, save to-day.
27 Awo Ibulayimu n’addira endiga n’ente n’abiwa Abimereki, ne balagaana endagaano bombi.
And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave to Abimelech, —and they two solemnised a covenant
28 Awo Ibulayimu n’ayawulako endiga enduusi musanvu okuva mu kisibo kye.
So then Abraham set seven young sheep of the flock by them-selves,
29 Abimereki n’abuuza Ibulayimu nti, “Endiga ezo omusanvu enduusi z’oyawuddeko amakulu gaazo ki?”
And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What, then mean these seven young sheep here, which thou hast set by themselves?
30 N’amuddamu nti, “Endiga ezo enduusi omusanvu onoozitwala okuva gye ndi kalyoke kabe obukakafu nti nze nasima oluzzi olwo.”
And he said, The seven young sheep, shalt thou take at my hand, —that they may serve as my witness, that I digged this well.
31 Ekifo ekyo kyekyava kiyitibwa Beeruseba, kubanga eyo bombi gye baalagaanira.
On this account, was the name of that place called Beer-sheba ["oath well"], —because there, had they two sworn.
32 Bwe baamala okukola endagaano e Beeruseba, Abimereki ne Fikoli omukulu w’eggye lye ne basitula ne baddayo mu nsi y’Abafirisuuti.
And when they had solemnised a covenant in Beer-sheba, —then arose Abimelech, with Phicol chief of his host, and returned unto the land of the Philistines.
33 Ibulayimu n’asimba omuti omumyulimu mu Beeruseba n’akaabiririra eyo erinnya lya Mukama, Katonda Ataggwaawo.
Then planted he a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, —and called there on the name of Yahweh the age-abiding GOD.
34 Ibulayimu ne yeeyongera okutambulatambula mu nsi y’Abafirisuuti okumala ennaku nnyingi.
So Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.
