< Olubereberye 15 >
1 Ebyo nga biwedde, ekigambo kya Mukama ne kijjira Ibulaamu mu kwolesebwa nti, “Totya Ibulaamu, Nze ngabo yo era empeera yo ennene ennyo.”
And after these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I shield you, your reward shall be very great.
2 Naye Ibulaamu n’addamu nti, “Kiki ky’olimpa Ayi Mukama Katonda, kubanga sirina mwana, n’omusika w’ennyumba yange ye Eryeza ow’omu Ddamasiko?”
And Abram said, Master [and] Lord, what will you give me? whereas I am departing without a child, but the son of Masek my home-born female slave, this Eliezer of Damascus [is mine heir.]
3 Ibulaamu ne yeeyongera n’agamba nti, “Laba tompadde mwana; omuddu eyazaalibwa mu nnyumba yange ye musika wange.”
And Abram said, [I am grieved] since you have given me no seed, but my home-born [servant] shall succeed me.
4 Laba ekigambo kya Mukama ne kimujjira nti, “Omusajja oyo tagenda kuba musika wo; mutabani wo, y’aliba omusika wo.”
And immediately there was a voice of the Lord to him, saying, This shall not be your heir; but he that shall come out of you shall be your heir.
5 N’amufulumya ebweru n’amugamba nti, “Tunuulira eggulu, obale emunyeenye, obanga osobola okuzibala.” Awo n’amugamba nti, “N’ezzadde lyo bwe liriba bwe lityo.”
And he brought him out and said to him, Look up now to heaven, and count the stars, if you shall be able to number them fully, and he said, Thus shall your seed be.
6 Ibulaamu n’akkiriza Mukama, n’akimubalira okuba obutuukirivu.
And Abram believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.
7 N’amugamba nti, “Nze Mukama eyakuggya mu Uli ensi ey’Abakaludaaya, nkuwe ensi eno ebeere yiyo.”
And he said to him, I am God that brought you out of the land of the Chaldeans, so as to give you this land to inherit.
8 Ibulaamu n’addamu nti, “Ayi Mukama nnaamanya ntya nti eriba yange?”
And he said, Master [and] Lord, how shall I know that I shall inherit it?
9 Mukama n’amuddamu nti, “Ndeetera ennyana eyaakamala emyaka esatu, embuzi ey’emyaka esatu, endiga ensajja ey’emyaka esatu, kaamukuukulu n’ejjiba.”
And he said to him, Take for me an heifer in her third year, and a she-goat in her third year, and a ram in his third year, and a dove and a pigeon.
10 Ibulaamu n’abireeta byonna n’abisalamu wakati n’ateeka buli kitundu kungulu ku kinnaakyo, naye ebinyonyi byo teyabisalamu bitundu nga biri.
So he took to him all these, and divided them in the midst, and set them opposite to each other, but the birds he did not divide.
11 Ensega bwe zajja okubirya, Ibulaamu n’azigoba.
And birds came down upon the bodies, [even] upon the divided parts of them, and Abram sat down by them.
12 Enjuba yali egwa, Ibulaamu ne yeebaka otulo tungi; era laba, ekizikiza ekingi eky’amaanyi ne kimubuutikira.
And about sunset a trance fell upon Abram, and behold! a great gloomy terror falls upon him.
13 Awo Mukama n’agamba Ibulaamu nti, “Manyira ddala nti ezzadde lyo baliba batambuze mu nsi eteri yaabwe, era baliba baddu eyo, balibonyaabonyezebwa eyo okumala emyaka ebikumi bina.
And it was said to Abram, You shall surely know that your seed shall be a sojourner in a land not their won, and they shall enslave them, and afflict them, and humble them four hundred years.
14 Naye ndibonereza eggwanga lye balikolera n’oluvannyuma balivaayo n’obugagga bungi.
And the nation whoever they shall serve I will judge; and after this, they shall come forth hither with much property.
15 Naye ggwe oligenda mirembe eri bajjajjaabo; oliziikibwa ng’owangaalidde ddala nnyo.
But you shall depart to your fathers in peace, nourished in a good old age.
16 Era balikomawo wano mu mulembe ogwokuna; kubanga obutali butuukirivu bw’Omwamoli tebunnayitirira.”
And in the fourth generation they shall return hither, for the sins of the Amorites are not yet filled up, even until now.
17 Enjuba bwe yagwa ng’ekizikiza kikutte, laba, ensuwa eyaka omuliro era enyooka omukka n’ekimulisa ne biyita wakati w’ebitundu bino.
And when the sun was about to set, there was a flame, and behold a smoking furnace and lamps of fire, which passed between these divided pieces.
18 Ku lunaku olwo Mukama n’akola endagaano ne Ibulaamu ng’agamba nti, “Ezadde lyo ndiwa ensi eno, okuva ku mugga ogw’e Misiri okutuuka ku mugga omunene, omugga Fulaati:
In that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed I will give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates.
19 Omukeeni, n’Omukenizi, n’Omukadumoni,
The Kenites, and the Kenezites, and the Kedmoneans,
20 n’Omukiiti, n’Omuperizi, n’Abaleefa,
and the Chettites, and the Pherezites, and the Raphaim,
21 n’Omwamoli, n’Omukanani, n’Omugirugaasi n’Omuyebusi, mbagabula mu mukono gwo.”
and the Amorites, and the Chananites, and the Evites, and the Gergesites, and the Jebusites.
