< Ezera 3 >

1 Omwezi ogw’omusanvu bwe gwatuuka, Abayisirayiri ne bava mu bibuga gye baali, ne bakuŋŋaanira e Yerusaalemi nga bali bumu.
By the seventh month, the Israelites had settled in their towns, and the people assembled as one man in Jerusalem.
2 Awo Yesuwa mutabani wa Yozadaki ne bakabona banne, ne Zerubbaberi mutabani wa Seyalutyeri n’ab’ennyumba ye ne batandika okuzimba ekyoto kya Katonda wa Isirayiri, okuweerangako ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa nga bwe kyawandiikibwa, mu Mateeka ga Musa omusajja wa Katonda.
Then Jeshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests, along with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates, began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.
3 Newaakubadde nga baalina entiisa ey’abamawanga agaali gabeetoolodde, basooka okuzimba ekyoto ku musingi gwakyo ne bawaayo ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa eri Mukama, nga bawaayo eby’enkya n’eby’akawungeezi.
They set up the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD—both the morning and evening burnt offerings—even though they feared the people of the land.
4 Era ng’etteeka bwe liri, ne bakwata embaga ey’ensiisira ne bawaayo ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa ebya buli lunaku ng’omuwendo ogwetaagibwa buli lunaku bwe gwali.
They also celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles in accordance with what is written, and they offered burnt offerings daily based on the number prescribed for each day.
5 N’oluvannyuma baawaayo ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa ebya buli kiseera, omwezi nga gwa kaboneka ne ku buli mbaga zonna ezaatukuzibwa eza Mukama ezaalagirwa, ate n’ekiweebwayo ekya buli muntu eyawaayo eri Mukama ekiweebwayo awatali kuwalirizibwa.
After that, they presented the regular burnt offerings and those for New Moons and for all the appointed sacred feasts of the LORD, as well as all the freewill offerings brought to the LORD.
6 Okuva ku lunaku olw’olubereberye olw’omwezi ogw’omusanvu ne batandika okuwaayo ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa eri Mukama, newaakubadde ng’omusingi gwa yeekaalu ya Mukama gwali tegunnazimbibwa.
On the first day of the seventh month, the Israelites began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, although the foundation of the temple of the LORD had not been laid.
7 Ne bawa abazimbi n’ababazzi ensimbi, ne bawa n’ab’e Sidoni n’ab’e Tuulo ebyokulya n’ebyokunywa n’amafuta, okuleeta emivule okuva mu Lebanooni okugituusa ku nnyanja e Yopa, ng’ekiragiro kya Kuulo kabaka w’e Buperusi bwe kyali.
They gave money to the masons and carpenters, and food and drink and oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre to bring cedar logs from Lebanon to Joppa by sea, as authorized by Cyrus king of Persia.
8 Awo mu mwezi ogwokubiri mu mwaka ogwokubiri nga batuuse awali yeekaalu ya Katonda mu Yerusaalemi, Zerubbaberi mutabani wa Seyalutyeri, ne Yesuwa mutabani wa Yozadaki ne baganda baabwe bakabona n’Abaleevi ne bonna abajja e Yerusaalemi okuva mu buwaŋŋanguse ne batandika omulimu ogw’okuzimba, era ne beerondamu abaali ab’emyaka amakumi abiri egy’obukulu, n’okusingawo, okulabirira omulimu ogw’okuddaabiriza yeekaalu ya Mukama.
In the second month of the second year after they had arrived at the house of God in Jerusalem, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the rest of their associates including the priests, the Levites, and all who had returned to Jerusalem from the captivity, began the work. They appointed Levites twenty years of age or older to supervise the construction of the house of the LORD.
9 Awo Yesuwa ne batabani be ne baganda be, ne Kadumyeri ne batabani be, ne bazzukulu ba Yuda, nga bayambibwako ne batabani ba Kenedadi n’Abaleevi bonna ne bavunaanyizibwa okulabirira omulimu ogw’okuddaabiriza ennyumba ya Mukama.
So Jeshua and his sons and brothers, Kadmiel and his sons (descendants of Yehudah), and the sons of Henadad and their sons and brothers—all Levites—joined together to supervise those working on the house of God.
10 Awo abazimbi bwe baamala okuzimba omusingi gwa yeekaalu ya Mukama, bakabona nga bambadde ebyambalo byabwe ne bavaayo nga bakutte amakondeere, n’abaleevi, bazzukulu ba Asafu, nga bakutte ebitaasa, ne bayimirira mu bifo byabwe okutendereza Mukama, nga Dawudi kabaka wa Isirayiri bwe yateekateeka.
When the builders had laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their positions to praise the LORD, as David king of Israel had prescribed.
11 Ne bayimba ennyimba ez’okwebaza n’okutendereza Mukama nga boogera nti, “Mulungi, n’okwagala kwe eri Isirayiri kubeerera emirembe gyonna.” Abantu bonna ne bayimusa amaloboozi gaabwe nga batendereza Mukama, kubanga omusingi gw’ennyumba ya Mukama gwali guzimbiddwa.
And they sang responsively with praise and thanksgiving to the LORD: “For He is good; for His loving devotion to Israel endures forever.” Then all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD had been laid.
12 Naye bangi ku bakabona n’Abaleevi abakadde, n’Abakulu b’ebika, abaalaba yeekaalu eyasooka, ne bakaaba nnyo ng’amaloboozi gaabwe gawulikika bwe baalaba ng’omusingi gwa yeekaalu empya guzimbiddwa, newaakubadde ng’abalala bangi baasanyuka nnyo nga bwe baleekaana;
But many of the older priests, Levites, and family heads who had seen the first temple wept loudly when they saw the foundation of this temple. Still, many others shouted joyfully.
13 nga si kyangu okwawula amaloboozi g’abo abaali bakaaba n’abaali basanyuka, kubanga abantu bonna baawowogana mu ddoboozi ery’omwanguka, era n’amaloboozi gaabwe ne gawulirwa wala.
The people could not distinguish the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people were making so much noise. And the sound was heard from afar.
