1 Amateeka gano gabategeeze nti:
Now these are the lawes, which thou shalt set before them:
2 “Bw’ogulanga omuddu Omwebbulaniya, akuweererezanga emyaka mukaaga. Mu mwaka ogw’omusanvu omuddizanga eddembe lye n’agenda, era talisasuliranga.
If thou bye an Ebrewe seruant, he shall serue sixe yeres, and in the seuenth he shall go out free, for nothing.
3 Bw’aba nga yajja yekka, era agendanga yekka; naye bw’aba nga yajja ne mukazi we, era agendanga naye.
If he came himselfe alone, he shall goe out himselfe alone: if hee were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4 Mukama we bw’abanga amuwadde omukazi, n’amuzaalira abaana aboobulenzi n’aboobuwala; omukazi n’abaana babanga ba mukama wa muddu oyo; omusajja yekka ye yaddizibwanga eddembe lye.
If his master haue giuen him a wife, and she hath borne him sonnes or daughters, he wife and her children shalbe her masters, but he shall goe out himselfe alone.
5 Naye omuddu bw’agambanga nti, ‘Nze mukama wange mmwagala, ne mukazi wange n’abaana bange bonna mbagala, era seetaaga ddembe,’
But if the seruant saye thus, I loue my master, my wife and my children, I will not goe out free,
6 mukama we amutwalanga eri abalamuzi, amuleetanga ku luggi oba ku mwango gw’oluggi, n’amuwummula okutu n’olukato. Olwo anaamuweerezanga okutuusa okufa.
Then his master shall bring him vnto the Iudges, and set him to the dore, or to the poste, and his master shall bore his eare through with a nawle, and he shall serue him for euer.
7 “Omusajja bw’anaatundanga omwana we owoobuwala ng’omuddu, omuwala oyo taddizibwenga ddembe ng’omuddu omusajja.
Likewise if a man sell his daughter to be a seruant, she shall not goe out as the men seruantes doe.
8 Bw’ataasanyusenga mukama we eyamugula, anaayinzanga okununulibwa. Kyokka mukama we taabenga na buyinza kumutunda mu bannamawanga, kubanga mukama we yanaabanga amukuusizakuusiza okumala okumuwasa ate n’amwegobako.
If shee please not her master, who hath betrothed her to him selfe, then shall hee cause to buy her: hee shall haue no power to sell her to a strange people, seeing he despised her.
9 Singa amugabira mutabani we, olwo anaabanga ng’omu ku bawala be.
But if he hath betrothed her vnto his sonne, he shall deale with her according to the custome of the daughters.
10 Singa amuwasizaako omukazi omulala, mukama we taamuggyengako mmere ye oba engoye ze, wadde ebimukwatako byonna eby’obufumbo.
If he take him another wife, he shall not diminish her foode, her rayment, and recompence of her virginitie.
11 Ebintu ebyo ebisatu singa abimumma, omuwala omuddu anaayinzanga okuleka mukama we n’amuvaako awatali kusasulirwa.
And if he do not these three vnto her, the shall she go out free, paying no money.
12 “Anaakubanga omuntu n’amutta, naye ateekwa buteekwa okuttibwa.
He that smiteth a man, and he die, shall dye the death.
13 Kyokka singa akikola nga tagenderedde, naye Katonda n’akikkiriza okubaawo, anaddukanga ne yeekweka mu kifo kye ndibateekerateekera.
And if a man hath not layed wayte, but God hath offered him into his hande, then I wil appoynt thee a place whither he shall flee.
14 Naye singa omuntu anaasalanga olukwe n’alumba munne n’amutta mu bugenderevu, bw’anaabanga ku kyoto kyange, mumusikangako ne mumutwala ne mumutta.
But if a man come presumptuously vpon his neighbour to slay him with guile, thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
15 “Akubanga kitaawe oba nnyina, ateekwa buteekwa okuttibwa.
Also hee that smiteth his father or his mother, shall die the death.
16 “Oyo awambanga omuntu n’amutunda oba n’akwatibwa naye nga tannamutunda attibwanga buttibwa.
And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, if it be founde with him, shall die the death.
17 “Anaakolimiranga kitaawe oba nnyina ateekwa kuttibwa.
And hee that curseth his father or his mother, shall die the death.
18 “Abantu singa bayomba ne balwana, omu n’akuba munne ejjinja oba ekikonde, n’atafa wabula n’abeera ku kitanda;
When men also striue together, and one smite another with a stone, or with the fist, and he die not, but lieth in bed,
19 singa ava ku kitanda, n’atandika n’okutambulako ebweru n’omuggo gwe, oli eyamukuba taavunaanibwenga; wabula anaasasuliranga ebiseera by’oyo gwe yakuba, era n’amujjanjaba okutuusa ng’awonedde ddala.
If hee rise againe and walke without vpon his staffe, then shall he that smote him go quite, saue onely hee shall beare his charges for his resting, and shall pay for his healing.
20 “Omuntu bw’anaakubanga omuddu we omusajja oba omuddu we omukazi n’omuggo, omuddu oyo emiggo ne gimutta, omusajja oyo anaabonerezebwanga;
And if a man smite his seruant, or his maide with a rod, and he die vnder his hande, he shalbe surely punished.
21 naye omuddu oyo bw’anaalamanga okumala olunaku oba ennaku ebbiri, mukama we taabonerezebwenga, kubanga ye nannyini ye.
But if he continue a day, or two dayes, hee shall not be punished: for he is his money.
22 “Singa abantu babadde balwana, ne bakubiramu omukazi ali olubuto, olubuto ne luvaamu, kyokka n’atabaako mutawaana mulala gwonna, oyo amukubye anaatanzibwanga omutango bba w’omukazi gw’anaasalanga, era nga n’abalamuzi bagukkirizza.
Also if men striue and hurt a woman with childe, so that her childe depart from her, and death follow not, hee shall bee surely punished according as the womans husband shall appoynt him, or he shall pay as the Iudges determine.
23 Naye singa omukazi oyo abaako omutawaana ogw’amaanyi, ekibonerezo kineenkanaakananga n’ekyo ky’amukoze. Bw’anattanga anattibwanga,
But if death follow, then thou shalt paye life for life,
24 bw’anaaggyangamu eriiso lya munne, n’erirye banaaligyangamu, oba omuntu bw’anaaggyangamu erinnyo lya munne, n’erirye banaalikuulangamu, bw’anaamutemangako omukono, n’ogugwe banaagutemangako, bw’anaamutemangako ekigere, n’ekikye banaakitemangako,
Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hande for hand, foote for foote,
25 bw’anaamwokyanga, naye anaayokebwanga, bw’anaamussangako ekiwundu, naye anaassibwangako ekiwundu, bw’anaamunuubulanga, naye anaanuubulwanga.
Burning for burning, wound for wounde, stripe for stripe.
26 “Omuntu bw’akubanga omuddu we omusajja oba omuddu we omukazi, n’amuggyamu eriiso, anaamuddizanga eddembe lye n’amuleka n’agenda, nga kwe kumuliyira olw’eriiso eryo.
And if a man smite his seruant in the eie, or his maide in the eye, and hath perished it, hee shall let him goe free for his eye.
27 Singa akuba omuddu we omusajja oba omuddu we omukazi, n’amukuulamu erinnyo, anaamuddizanga eddembe lye, nga kwe kumuliyira olw’erinnyo eryo.
Also if he smite out his seruants tooth, or his maides tooth, he shall let him goe out free for his tooth.
28 “Singa ente ya seddume etomera omusajja oba omukazi n’emutta, seddume eyo eteekwa okukubwanga amayinja n’efa, n’ennyama yaayo teriibwanga. Kyokka nannyini yo taabengako musango.
If an oxe gore a man or a woman, that he die, the oxe shalbe stoned to death, and his flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner of the oxe shall goe quite.
29 Naye seddume eyo singa emanyiddwa nga bulijjo ntomezi, era nga ne nannyini yo yalabulwako dda, kyokka n’atagisibira mu lugo lwayo, n’etta omusajja oba omukazi, eneekubwanga amayinja n’efa, ne nannyini yo anattibwanga.
If the oxe were wont to push in times past, and it hath bene tolde his master, and hee hath not kept him, and after he killeth a man or a woman, the oxe shall be stoned, and his owner shall die also.
30 Naye singa asalirwa engassi, aneenunulanga n’awona okufa ng’asasuddeyo kyonna ekinaabanga kimusaliddwa.
If there be set to him a summe of mony, then he shall pay the raunsome of his life, whatsoeuer shalbe laied vpon him.
31 Seddume bw’eneetomeranga mutabani w’omuntu oba muwala we, etteeka lye limu eryo lye linaakozesebwanga.
Whether he hath gored a sonne or gored a daughter, he shalbe iudged after the same maner.
32 Seddume bw’etomeranga omuddu omusajja oba omuddu omukazi, nannyini yo ateekwa okusasula mukama w’omuddu oyo, ebitundu bya ffeeza amakumi asatu, ne seddume ekubwenga amayinja efe.
If the oxe gore a seruant or a mayde, hee shall giue vnto their master thirtie shekels of siluer, and the oxe shalbe stoned.
33 “Omuntu bw’anaabikkulanga ekinnya n’akireka nga kyasamye, oba bw’anaasimanga ekinnya n’atakisaanikirako, seddume n’ekigwamu oba endogoyi,
And when a man shall open a well, or when he shall dig a pit and couer it not, and an oxe or an asse fall therein,
34 nannyini kinnya anaasasuliranga okufiirwa okwo; anaasasulanga nannyini nsolo efudde, era n’okugitwala anaagitwalanga.
The owner of the pit shall make it good, and giue money to the owners thereof, but the dead beast shalbe his.
35 “Seddume y’omuntu bw’eneerumyanga seddume y’omulala, n’emala egitta; banaatundanga seddume ennamu, ensimbi ne bazigabana; ne seddume enfu nayo banaagigabananga.
And if a mans oxe hurt his neighbours oxe that he die, then they shall sel the liue oxe, and deuide the money thereof, and the dead oxe also they shall deuide.
36 Oba singa seddume eyo ng’emanyiddwa nga ntomezitomezi, naye nannyini yo nga tagiggalira mu lugo lwayo, ateekwa asasule seddume olwa seddume, yo enfu eneebanga yiye.
Or if it bee knowen that the oxe hath vsed to push in times past, and his master hath not kept him, he shall pay oxe for oxe, but the dead shall be his owne.
