< Okuva 19 >

1 Mu mwezi ogwokusatu abaana ba Isirayiri nga bavudde mu Misiri, ne batuuka mu Ddungu lya Sinaayi.
In the third month, by the coming forth of the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, on this day, came they into the desert of Sinai:
2 Kubanga baali basitudde okuva mu Lefidimu ne bayingira Eddungu lya Sinaayi. Abayisirayiri ne basimba eweema zaabwe mu ddungu omwo mu maaso g’olusozi Sinaayi.
then was it that they brake up out of Rephidim and came into the desert of Sinai, and encamped in the desert, —yea Israel encamped there before the mountain.
3 Awo Musa n’ayambuka eri Katonda; Mukama n’amuyita ng’asinziira ku lusozi ng’agamba nti, “Bino by’onoogamba ennyumba ya Yakobo, by’onootegeeza abaana ba Isirayiri nti,
And when Moses, had gone up unto God, then called Yahweh unto him out of the mountain saying, Thus, shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, And tell the sons of Israel:
4 ‘Mwalaba bye nakola Abamisiri, mmwe ne mbasitulira ku biwaawaatiro by’empungu n’embeereetera gye ndi.
Ye, have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, —And how I bare you upon wings of eagles, And brought you in unto myself: —
5 Kale, singa mugondera eddoboozi lyange awatali kwerekeramu, ne mukuuma endagaano yange, mulibeera eggwanga lyange ery’enjawulo egganzi mu mawanga gonna, kubanga ensi yonna yange.
Now, therefore, if ye will, indeed hearken, to my voice, And keep my covenant, Then shall ye be mine as a treasure beyond all the peoples, For, mine, is all the earth;
6 Munaabeeranga obwakabaka bwange obwa bakabona, era eggwanga ettukuvu.’ Ebyo bye bigambo by’ojja okutegeeza abaana ba Isirayiri.”
But, ye, shall be mine, As a kingdom of priests, And a holy nation. These, are the words, which thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel.
7 Awo Musa n’akomawo, n’ayita abakulembeze b’abantu n’abategeeza ebigambo ebyo byonna Mukama bye yamulagira.
Then came Moses, and called for the elders of the people, —and put before them all these words which Yahweh had commanded him.
8 Abantu bonna ne baddiramu wamu nti, “Ebyo byonna Mukama by’agambye, tujja kubikola.” Musa n’ategeeza Mukama ng’abantu bwe baayogera.
And all the people responded together and said, All that Yahweh hath spoken, will we do. And Moses took back the words of the people, unto Yahweh.
9 Mukama n’agamba Musa nti, “Nzija kujja gy’oli mu kire ekikutte, abantu bawulire nga njogera naawe, bakukkirizenga era bakwesigenga ennaku zonna.” Musa n’ategeeza Mukama abantu bye baayogera.
Then said Yahweh unto Moses: Lo! I, am coming unto thee in the veiling of cloud, in order that the people may hear when I speak with thee, moreover also, that, in thee, they may trust to times age-abiding. Then told Moses the words of the people unto Yahweh.
10 Mukama n’agamba Musa nti, “Genda eri abantu, obatukuze leero n’enkya. Bagambe booze engoye zaabwe,
And Yahweh said unto Moses—Go unto the people, and thou shalt hallow them to-day, and to-morrow, —and they shall wash their clothes;
11 ku lunaku olwokusatu babeere beetegefu, kubanga ku lunaku olwo Mukama alikka ku lusozi Sinaayi ng’Abayisirayiri bonna balaba.
and shall be ready, by the third day, —for on the third day, will Yahweh come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai.
12 Abayisirayiri bakugire n’olukomera okwetooloola olusozi, obagambe nti, ‘Mwekuume muleme okwambuka ku lusozi oba okulukwatako we lutandikira. Anaalukwatako ajja kuttibwa.
So then thou shalt set bounds for the people round about saying, Take heed to yourselves—that ye go not up into the mountain, nor touch the boundary thereof, whosoever toucheth the mountain, shall, surely die.
13 Tajja kukwatibwako, wabula ajja kukubirwa ddala amayinja oba kufumitibwa. Omuntu tajja kulama, n’ebisolo tewaabeewo kirama.’ Akagombe bwe kanaamala okuvugira akabanga, olwo abantu ne balyoka bajja awali olusozi.”
No hand shall touch it but he shall be, surely stoned, or be, surely shot, whether beast or man, he shall not live, —When the ram’s horn soundeth, they themselves, shall come up within the mount,
14 Awo Musa n’ava ku lusozi n’aserengeta eri abantu, n’abatukuza ne bayoza engoye zaabwe.
Then Moses went down out of the mount, unto the people, —and hallowed the people, and they washed their clothes.
15 N’abagamba nti, “Mwetegekere olunaku olwokusatu, ne bakyala bammwe temubasemberera.”
And he said unto the people, Be ready, by the third day, —do not approach a woman.
16 Awo ku lunaku olwokusatu ku nkya ne waba okubwatuka n’okumyansa, n’ekire ekikutte ku lusozi, n’eddoboozi ly’akagombe ery’omwanguka ennyo; abantu bonna abaali mu lusiisira n’okukankana ne bakankana.
And it came to pass on the third day, when the morning had come, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a heavy cloud upon the mount, and the sound of a horn, loud exceedingly, —and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
17 Musa n’aggya abantu mu lusiisira n’abaleeta basisinkane Katonda; ne bayimirira wansi w’olusozi.
And Moses brought forth the people, to meet God out of the camp, —and they stationed themselves in the lower part of the mount,
18 Olusozi Sinaayi ne lubikkibwa omukka; kubanga Mukama yalukkako mu muliro. Omukka ne gunyooka nga gwambuka ng’oguva mu kyoto, n’olusozi lwonna ne lukankana nnyo.
And Mount Sinai, smoked, all over, because Yahweh had come down thereon in fire, —and the smoke thereof went up as the smoke of a furnace, and all the mountain trembled exceedingly.
19 Eddoboozi ly’akagombe bwe lyeyongera okuvuga n’omwanguka ogw’amaanyi, Musa n’ayogera, ne Katonda n’amwanukula n’eddoboozi ery’okubwatuka.
And as oft as the sound of the horn went on and became exceeding loud, Moses, spake and, God, responded to him with a voice.
20 Awo Mukama n’akka ku ntikko y’Olusozi Sinaayi. Mukama n’ayita Musa agende ku ntikko y’olusozi; Musa n’alinnya.
Thus came Yahweh down upon Mount Sinai unto the top of the mount, —and Yahweh called Moses unto the top of the mount, and Moses went up.
21 Mukama n’agamba Musa nti, “Serengeta eri abantu obalabule baleme kuwaguza okujja okutunula ku Mukama, abantu bangi baleme kuzikirira.
Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Go down, adjure the people, —lest they press through unto Yahweh to see, and so there fall from among them a multitude.
22 Ne bakabona, abasemberera Mukama, nabo basaana beetukuze, kubanga Mukama ayinza okubasaanyaawo.”
Yea, even the priests who do approach unto Yahweh, must hallow themselves, —lest Yahweh break in upon them.
23 Musa n’addamu Mukama nti, “Abantu tebasobola kwambuka ku Lusozi Sinaayi, kubanga ggwe wennyini watulagira nti, ‘Muteekeewo akakomera okwetooloola olusozi, lusigale lwokka nga lutukuvu.’”
And Moses said unto Yahweh, The people cannot come up into Mount Sinai, —for, thou thyself, hast adjured us saying: Set bounds to the mountain and hallow it.
24 Mukama n’alagira Musa nti, “Serengeta oleete Alooni; naye bakabona n’abantu tobaganya kuwaguza kujja kwambuka eri Mukama, kubanga ayinza okubasaanyaawo.”
And Yahweh said unto him—Away, down, then shalt thou come up, thou and Aaron with thee, —but as for the priests and the people, let it not be that they press through to come up unto Yahweh lest he break in upon them.
25 Bw’atyo Musa n’aserengeta mu bantu n’abategeeza.
So Moses went down unto the people, —and said [these things] unto them.
