< Ekyamateeka Olwokubiri 25 >
1 Abantu babiri bwe banaabanga n’enkaayana, ensonga zaabwe ne bazitwala mu mbuga z’amateeka, abalamuzi ne babasalirawo, banaalangiriranga asinze n’oyo gwe gusinze.
If there be a controversy between men, and they call upon the judges: they shall give the prize of justice to him whom they perceive to be just: and him whom they find to be wicked, they shall condemn of wickedness.
2 Singa oyo gwe gunaasiŋŋanga anaabanga asaanira okukubwangamu obuga, omulamuzi anaamugalamizanga wansi n’akubirwa mu maaso ge omuwendo gw’obuga obuggya mu musango gw’anaabanga azzizza,
And if they see that the offender be worthy of stripes: they shall lay him down, and shall cause him to be beaten before them. According to the measure of the sin shall the measure also of the stripes be:
3 naye nga tebusukka buga amakumi ana. Bwe bunaasukkanga omuwendo ogwo munnammwe anaabanga aswazibbwa nnyo mu maaso gammwe.
Yet so, that they exceed not the number of forty: lest thy brother depart shamefully torn before thy eyes.
4 Ente temugisibanga mimwa bwe munaabanga mugikozesa okuwuula emmere ey’empeke.
Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out thy corn on the floor.
5 Abooluganda bwe banaabanga babeera wamu, omu n’afa nga talina mwana wabulenzi, nnamwandu we tafumbirwanga musajja atali wa mu luggya lwa bba. Muganda wa bba anaatwalanga nnamwandu oyo n’amuwasa, n’atuukiriza obuvunaanyizibwa bwa muganda we omugenzi eri nnamwandu oyo.
When brethren dwell together, and one of them dieth without children, the wife of the deceased shall not marry to another: but his brother shall take her, and raise up seed for his brother:
6 Omwana owoobulenzi gw’anaasookanga okuzaala y’anaasikiranga erinnya lya muganda we omugenzi, bwe lityo erinnya ly’omugenzi ne litasangulwawo mu Isirayiri.
And the first son he shall have of her he shall call by his name, that his name be not abolished out of Israel.
7 Naye omusajja bw’anaabanga tayagala kuwasa nnamwandu wa muganda we, nnamwandu oyo anaagendanga eri abakulembeze abakulu ab’omu kibuga kye, ku wankaaki, n’abagamba nti, “Muganda wa baze agaanye okuwangaaza erinnya lya muganda we mu Isirayiri. Kubanga agaanye okutuukiriza gye ndi obuvunaanyizibwa bw’alina ku muganda we.”
But if he will not take his brother’s wife, who by law belongeth to him, the woman shall go to the gate of the city, and call upon the ancients, and say: My husband’s brother refuseth to raise up his brother’s name in Israel: and will not take me to wife.
8 Abakulembeze abakulu b’omu kibuga banaayitanga omusajja oyo ne boogera naye. Bw’anaakakanyalanga n’agamba nti, “Saagala kumuwasa,”
And they shall cause him to be sent for forthwith, and shall ask him. If he answer: I will not take her to wife:
9 kale, nnamwandu wa muganda we anaatambulanga n’alaga awali omusajja oyo mu maaso g’abakulembeze abakulu b’omu kibuga, anaamwambulangamu engatto mu kigere kye ekimu, era anaamuwandiranga amalusu mu maaso n’ayogera nti, “Bwe kityo bwe kinaakolebwanga ku musajja atazimba lunyiriri lwa luggya lwa muganda we.”
The woman shall come to him before the ancients, and shall take off his shoe from his foot, and spit in his face, and say: So shall it be done to the man that will not build up his brother’s house:
10 Oluggya lw’omusajja oyo lunaamanyibwanga mu Isirayiri ng’Oluggya lw’Omwambule Engatto.
And his name shall be called in Israel, the house of the unshod.
11 Bwe wanaabangawo abasajja babiri abalwana, mukazi w’omu bw’anajjanga okutaasa bba ku mulabe we n’amukwata ebitundu bye eby’ekyama,
If two men have words together, and one begin to fight against the other, and the other’s wife willing to deliver her husband out of the hand of the stronger, shall put forth her hand, and take him by the secrets,
12 omutemangako omukono gwe. Tomusaasiranga.
Thou shalt cut off her hand, neither shalt thou be moved with any pity in her regard.
13 Tossanga mu nsawo zo mayinja gapima ga ngeri bbiri ez’enjawulo, ng’erimu lizitowa, kyokka nga linnaalyo liwewuka.
Thou shalt not have divers weights in thy bag, a greater and a less:
14 Tobeeranga na bipima bya ngeri bbiri eby’enjawulo, ng’ekimu kinene, kyokka nga kinnaakyo kitono.
Neither shall there be in thy house a greater bushel and a less.
15 Kikugwanira obeerenga n’amayinja agapima obuzito obutuufu, era n’ebipima ebirala eby’amazima era ebituufu, olyoke owangaalenga ng’oli mu nsi Mukama Katonda wo gy’akuwa.
Thou shalt have a just and a true weight, and thy bushel shall be equal and true: that thou mayest live a long time upon the land which the Lord thy God shall give thee.
16 Kubanga Mukama Katonda wo akyayira ddala abo bonna abakola ebyo ebitali bya bwesigwa.
For the Lord thy God abhorreth him that doth these things, and he hateth all injustice.
17 Teweerabiranga Abamaleki bye baakukola bwe wali mu lugendo lwo ng’ova mu Misiri.
Remember what Amalec did to thee in the way when thou camest out of Egypt:
18 Bwe wali okooye nnyo nga n’amaanyi gakuweddemu, baakusanga mu lugendo lwo olwo, ne balumba abo bonna abaali basembyeyo emabega wo ne babatta; Katonda nga tebamutya.
How he met thee: and slew the hindmost of the army, who sat down, being weary, when thou wast spent with hunger and labour, and he feared not God.
19 Bw’olimala okutuuka mu nsi Mukama Katonda wo gy’akuwa okubeera obusika bwo obw’enkalakkalira, ng’akumazeeko n’abalabe bo bonna ku njuyi zonna, ng’owummudde, ozikiririzanga ddala Abamaleki n’obamalirawo ddala bonna wansi w’eggulu, ne watabaawo baliddayo kubajjukira nti baali babaddewo. Ekyo tokyerabiranga.
Therefore when the Lord thy God shall give thee rest, and shall have subdued all the nations round about in the land which he hath promised thee: thou shalt blot out his name from under heaven. See thou forget it not.
