1 Bakabona, Abaleevi n’ekika kyonna ekya Leevi, tebaafunenga mugabo oba bya busika mu Isirayiri. Banaaweebwanga ku biweebwayo ebyokebwa ebinaaleetebwanga eri Mukama Katonda; ogwo gwe gunaabanga omugabo ogw’obusika bwabwe.
The priests, who are Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, will have no portion nor inheritance with Israel; they must eat the offerings of Yahweh made by fire as their inheritance.
2 Tebaabeerenga na mugabo gwa busika nga bannaabwe abalala bonna mu Isirayiri, kubanga Mukama Katonda yabasuubiza nga y’anaabanga obusika bwabwe.
They must have no inheritance among their brothers; Yahweh is their inheritance, as he said to them.
3 Bino bakabona bye banaagabananga ku biweebwayo eby’ente za sseddume n’endiga abantu bye banaabanga baleese: bakabona banaafunangako omukono n’emba zombi, n’eby’omu lubuto.
This is the share given to the priests, given to them from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether it be an oxen or a sheep: the shoulder, the two cheeks, and the inner parts.
4 Era onoobawanga ebibala byo ebibereberye eby’emmere ey’empeke, n’ebya wayini wo, n’amafuta go, n’ebyoya ebisooka eby’endiga zo.
The firstfruits of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, you must give him.
5 Kubanga Mukama Katonda wo yeeroboza Leevi n’ezzadde lye mu bika byo byonna okuweerezanga mu linnya lya Mukama emirembe n’emirembe.
For Yahweh your God has chosen him out of all your tribes to stand to serve in the name of Yahweh, him and his sons forever.
6 Omuleevi bw’anaavanga mu kimu ku bibuga byo ebiri mu Isirayiri gy’abadde atuula, n’ajja nga bw’anaabanga yeeteeserezza, n’ajja mu kifo Mukama Katonda ky’aneeronderanga,
If a Levite comes from any of your towns out of all Israel from where he is living, and desires with all his soul to come to the place Yahweh will choose,
7 anaayinzanga okuweereza mu linnya lya Mukama Katonda we okufaanana nga Abaleevi banne abalala aba buli kiseera abanaabanga baweereza mu linnya lya Mukama Katonda mu kifo ekyo.
then he must serve in the name of Yahweh his God as all his brothers the Levites do, who stand there before Yahweh.
8 Anaagabananga kyenkanyi ne banne abaabulijjo, ne bw’anaabanga ng’alina ensimbi ezize ku bubwe z’anaabanga aggye mu by’omu maka ge by’atunze.
They must have similar portions to eat, besides of what comes of the sale of his family's inheritance.
9 Bw’onooyingira mu nsi Mukama Katonda wo gy’akuwa, weekuume obutayiga kukopperera mpisa embi ez’abantu ab’omu mawanga g’olisanga mu nsi omwo.
When you have come into the land that Yahweh your God is giving you, you must not learn to observe the abominations of those nations.
10 Tewabeerangawo omuntu n’omu alirabika ng’ayisa mutabani we, oba muwala we mu muliro, ng’ekiweebwayo, oba ng’akola ng’omulaguzi, oba omulogo, oba omusawo w’ekinnansi, oba avvuunula eby’omu biseera ebijja,
There must not be found among you anyone who sacrifices his son or his daughter in the fire, anyone who uses divination or tells fortunes, or reads signs found in a cup, or engages in witchcraft,
11 oba asuula abantu eddalu, oba emmandwa, oba omusamize, oba omulubaale, oba ayogera n’emizimu, oba eyeebuuza ku baafa.
any charmer, anyone who conjurs up spirits, or one who casts spells, or who talks with spirits of the dead.
12 Omuntu yenna anaakolanga ebintu ng’ebyo, anaabanga kivume era ekyomuzizo eri Mukama. Era olwokubanga ab’omu mawanga ago bakola ebyomuzizo ebyo, Mukama Katonda wo kyanaava abagoba mu nsi omwo ng’ogiyingira.
For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh; it is because of these abominations that Yahweh your God is driving them out from before you.
13 Kikugwanira obenga muwulize nnyo, atuukiridde mu maaso ga Mukama Katonda wo.
You must be blameless before Yahweh your God.
14 Newaakubadde ng’abantu ab’omu mawanga ago b’ogenda okulyako ensi yaabwe, bagondera nnyo abalaguzi n’abasamize, naye ebyo Mukama Katonda wo, ggwe, takukkiriza kubikola.
For these nations that you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery and divination; but as for you, Yahweh your God has not allowed you to do so.
15 Mukama Katonda wo agenda kukuyimusiza Nnabbi ali nga nze, ng’amuggya mu bantu bo. Nnabbi oyo mumuwulirizanga era mumugonderanga.
Yahweh your God will raise up for you a prophet from among you, one of your brothers, like me. You must listen to him.
16 Kubanga ekyo kye wasaba Mukama Katonda wo ku lunaku olw’okukuŋŋaana ku lusozi Kolebu ng’ogamba nti, “Sisaanidde kuddayo nate kuwulira ddoboozi lya Mukama Katonda wange wadde okuddayo okulaba omuliro guno omungi, nneme okufa.”
This is what you asked from Yahweh your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, 'Let us not hear again the voice of Yahweh our God, nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.'
17 Mukama Katonda kwe kunnyanukula nti, “Kye bagambye kirungi era kituufu.
Yahweh said to me, 'What they have said is good.
18 Nzija kubayimusiza Nnabbi ali nga ggwe okuva wakati mu bo; Nze nnaasanga ebigambo byange mu kammwe ke, ye n’abategeezanga bye nnaamulagiranga.
I will raise up a prophet for them from among their brothers, just like you. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will speak to them all that I command him.
19 Omuntu yenna ataagonderenga bigambo Nnabbi by’anaayogeranga mu linnya lyange, Nze kennyini, Nze nnaamwekolerangako.
It will happen that if anyone does not listen to the words of mine that he speaks in my name, I will require it of him.
20 Naye nnabbi anaayogeranga mu linnya lya bakatonda abalala, oba aneetulinkirizanga nti ayogera mu linnya lyange, songa si Nze mmulagidde okubyogera, nnabbi oyo wa kufa.”
But the prophet who speaks a word arrogantly in my name, a word that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that very prophet must die.'
21 Oyinza okwebuuza nti, “Tunaamanyanga tutya ng’ebigambo ebyo Mukama Katonda si y’anaabanga abyogedde?”
This is what you must say in your heart: 'How will we recognize a message that Yahweh has not spoken?'
22 Ebigambo nnabbi by’anaayogeranga mu linnya lya Mukama bwe bitaatuukirirenga oba bwe bitaabenga bya mazima, ng’ebigambo ebyo Mukama Katonda si y’abyogedde. Nnabbi oyo by’anaabanga ayogedde anaabanga abiyiiyizza buyiiya. Ebyo tebibatiisanga.
You will recognize a message that Yahweh has spoken when a prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh. If that thing does not occur nor happen, then that is something that Yahweh has not spoken and the prophet has spoken it arrogantly, and you must not be afraid of him.
