1 Muli baana ba Mukama Katonda wammwe. Temwesalangako misale oba enjola ku mibiri gyammwe, wadde okwemwangako enviiri ez’omu bwenyi nga mufiiriddwa,
You are the children of the Lord your God: you are not to make cuts on your bodies or take off the hair on your brows in honour of the dead;
2 kubanga oli ggwanga ttukuvu eri Mukama Katonda wo. Mu mawanga gonna ag’oku nsi, Mukama ggwe gwe yalondamu okuba eggwanga lye eddonde lye yeefunira.
For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has taken you to be his special people out of all the nations on the face of the earth.
3 Temulyanga nnyama ya kisolo kyonna ekitali kirongoofu eky’omuzizo.
No disgusting thing may be your food.
4 Bino bye bisolo bye munaalyanga: ente, endiga, embuzi,
These are the beasts which you may have for food: the ox, the sheep, and the goat;
5 enjaza, empeewo, ennangaazi, embulabuzi, entamu, enteŋŋo n’endiga ez’omu nsiko.
The hart, the gazelle, and the roe, the mountain goat and the pygarg and the antelope and the mountain sheep.
6 Era munaayinzanga okulya ensolo ezirina ebinuulo ebyawulamu wabiri nga zizza n’obwenkulumu.
Any beast which has a division in the horn of its foot and whose food comes back into its mouth to be crushed again, may be used for food.
7 Naye nno ku ezo ezirina ebinuulo ebyawulamu oba nga zizza obwenkulumu, zino temuziryanga: eŋŋamira, akamyu, n’omusu. Kubanga newaakubadde nga zizza obwenkulumu, ekinuulo kyazo sikyawulemu, si nnongoofu za muzizo gye muli.
But even among these, there are some which may not be used for food: such as the camel, the hare, and the coney, which are unclean to you, because, though their food comes back, the horn of their feet is not parted in two.
8 Embizzi nazo si nnongoofu, kubanga newaakubadde zirina ekinuulo ekyawulemu, naye tezizza bwenkulumu, noolwekyo zinaabanga za muzizo gye muli. Ennyama yaazo temugiryanga so temukwatanga wadde okukoma ku mirambo gyazo.
And the pig is unclean to you, because though it has a division in the horn of its foot, its food does not come back; their flesh may not be used for food or their dead bodies touched by you.
9 Mu biramu ebibeera mu mazzi, munaalyanga ebyo ebirina amaggwa ku mugongo n’amagalagamba.
And of the things living in the waters, you may take all those who have wings for swimming with and skins formed of thin plates.
10 Naye ebyo byonna ebitalina maggwa na magalagamba temubiryanga, kubanga si birongoofu gye muli.
But any which have no skin-plates or wings for swimming, you may not take; they are unclean for you.
11 Ennyonyi ennongoofu munaaziryanga.
All clean birds may be used for food.
12 Naye zino temuuziryenga: empungu, ennunda, makwanzi,
But these birds you may not take: the eagle and the gier-eagle and the ospray;
13 wonzi, eddiirawamu, kamunye n’ez’ekika kye,
The falcon and the kite, and birds of that sort;
14 namuŋŋoona owa buli ngeri;
Every raven, and all birds of that sort;
15 ne maaya, n’olubugabuga, olusove, enkambo n’ekika kyazo,
And the ostrich and the night-hawk and the sea-hawk and birds of that sort;
16 ekiwuugulu, n’ekkukufu, ekiwuugulu eky’amatu;
The little owl and the great owl and the water-hen;
17 n’ekimbala, n’ensega, n’enkobyokkobyo;
And the pelican and the vulture and the cormorant;
18 ne kasiida, ne ssekanyolya, n’ekika kye, n’ekkookootezi, n’ekinyira.
The stork and the heron and birds of that sort, and the hoopoe and the bat.
19 Ebiwuka byonna ebirina ebiwaawaatiro nga bigendera mu kibinja si birongoofu gye muli, temuubiryenga.
Every winged thing which goes flat on the earth is unclean to you and may not be used as food.
20 Ekiramu kyonna ekirongoofu ekirina ebiwaawaatiro munaayinzanga okukirya.
But all clean birds you may take.
21 Ekintu kyonna kye munaasanganga nga kimaze okufa, temukiryanga. Onooyinzanga okukiwanga munnaggwanga anaabeeranga mu bibuga byo ye n’akirya, oba onooyinzanga okukitunzanga munnaggwanga. Kubanga oli ggwanga ettukuvu eri Mukama Katonda wo. Tofumbiranga kabuzi kato mu mata ga nnyina waako.
You may not have as food anything which has come to a natural death; the man from another country who is living with you may take it for food, or you may get a price for it from one of another nation; for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. The young goat is not to be cooked in its mother's milk.
22 Buli lw’onookungulanga ebibala byo nga biva mu nnimiro yo buli mwaka, weegenderezanga n’ossangako wabbali ekitundu kyabyo eky’ekkumi.
Put on one side a tenth of all the increase of your seed, produced year by year.
23 Onoolyanga ekitundu eky’ekkumi eky’emmere y’empeke, n’ekya wayini omusu, n’eky’amafuta, n’eky’ebibereberye eby’ebisibo byo n’eby’amagana go. Onookiriiranga mu maaso ga Mukama Katonda wo mu kifo ky’anaabanga yeerondedde eky’okubeerangamu Erinnya lye, olyokenga oyige okutyanga Mukama Katonda wo bulijjo.
And make a feast before the Lord your God, in the place which is to be marked out, where his name will be for ever, of the tenth part of your grain and your wine and your oil, and the first births of your herds and your flocks; so that you may have the fear of the Lord your God in your hearts at all times.
24 Naye Mukama ng’akuwadde omukisa, kyokka ng’ekifo ekyo kye yeerondera okubeerangamu Erinnya lye kiri wala n’ewuwo, noolwekyo nga toosobolenga kwetikka ekitundu eky’ekkumi okukituusangayo,
And if the way is so long that you are not able to take these things to the place marked out by the Lord your God for his name, when he has given you his blessing, because it is far away from you;
25 kale nno, onookiwaanyisangamu omuwendo gw’ensimbi. Onoogendanga n’ensimbi ezo ng’ozinywezezza mu mukono gwo mu kifo Mukama Katonda wo kye yeerondera.
Then let these things be exchanged for money, and, taking the money in your hand, go to the place marked out by the Lord your God for himself;
26 Ensimbi ezo onoozeegulirangamu ekintu kyonna ky’onooyagalanga: gamba ente, oba endiga, oba envinnyo, oba ekyokunywa ekitamiiza, oba ekintu kyonna ky’onooyagalanga. Ggwe awamu n’ab’omu maka go bonna munaaliiranga awo mu maaso ga Mukama Katonda wo nga musanyuka.
And with the money get whatever you have a desire for, oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink, whatever your soul's desire may be: and make a feast there before the Lord your God, and be glad, you and all your house;
27 Naye nno, Omuleevi anaabeeranga naawe mu bibuga byo tomulagajjaliranga, kubanga ye talina mugabo wadde ebyobusika ebibye ku bubwe nga ggwe.
And give a thought to the Levite who is living among you, for he has no part or heritage in the land.
28 Buli myaka esatu, ku buli nkomerero ya mwaka ogwokusatu, onooleetanga ebitundu eby’ekkumi byonna ebyo eby’ebibala byo byonna eby’omwaka ogwo, n’obiterekanga mu mawanika mu bibuga byo.
At the end of every three years take a tenth part of all your increase for that year, and put it in store inside your walls:
29 Kale nno, Omuleevi kubanga taabenga na mugabo wadde ebyobusika nga ggwe, ne bamulekwa abatalina bakitaabwe ne nnamwandu; abo bonna abanaabanga babeera mu bibuga byo, bajjenga balye okutuusa lwe banakkutanga; bw’atyo Mukama Katonda wo alyoke akuwenga omukisa mu buli kimu kyonna ky’onookolanga n’emikono gyo.
And the Levite, because he has no part or heritage in the land, and the man from a strange country, and the child who has no father, and the widow, who are living among you, will come and take food and have enough; and so the blessing of the Lord your God will be on you in everything you do.
