1 Awo olunaku lwa Pentekoote bwe lwatuuka bonna baali bakuŋŋaanidde mu kisenge kimu.
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all meeting together in one place.
2 Amangwago okuwuuma, nga kuli ng’empewo ey’amaanyi ennyo ekunta, ne kuva mu ggulu, ne kujjula mu nnyumba yonna mwe baali batudde.
Suddenly a noise came from heaven like a roaring wind that filled the whole house where they were staying.
3 Ku buli omu ne kutuulako ennimi ng’ez’omuliro.
They saw what looked like separate tongue-shaped flames that settled on each of them.
4 Bonna ne bajjuzibwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu, ne batandika okwogera ennimi ez’enjawulo nga Mwoyo Mutukuvu bwe yabasobozesa.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages as the Spirit gave them the ability to do so.
5 Waaliwo Abayudaaya bangi abatya Katonda abaali bazze mu Yerusaalemi nga bavudde mu buli ggwanga wansi w’eggulu.
At that time there were devout Jews from every nation on earth living in Jerusalem.
6 Bwe baawulira okuwuuma okwo, ekibiina kinene ne kikuŋŋaana, ne beewuunya okuwulira nga buli muntu awulira olulimi lw’ewaabwe.
When they heard this noise, a large crowd of them gathered. They were puzzled because everyone heard their own language being spoken.
7 Ne bawuniikirira ne beewuunya ne bagamba nti, “Bano bonna aboogera si Bagaliraaya?
They were totally amazed, saying, “Look, these people who are speaking—aren't they all Galileans?
8 Kale lwaki tuwulira buli muntu olulimi lw’ewaffe gye twazaalibwa?
So how is it that we can all hear them speaking in our own mother tongue?
9 Tubawulira nga boogera eby’amagero bya Katonda mu nnimi ez’Abapaazi, n’Abameedi, n’Abeeramiti, n’ez’abalala abava e Mesopotamiya, ne Buyudaaya, ne Kapadokiya, mu Ponto ne mu Asiya,
Parthians, Medes and Elamites; people from Mesopotamia, Judaea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 ne mu Fulugiya ne mu Panfuliya, n’abamu abava mu Misiri, n’ensi za Libiya okuliraana Kuleene, n’abagenyi Abaruumi,
Phrygia and Pamphylia; from Egypt and the area of Libya around Cyrene; visitors from Rome, both Jews and converts,
11 Abayudaaya, n’abakyuka ne basoma Ekiyudaaya, n’Abakuleete n’Abawalabu.”
Cretans and Arabians—we hear them speaking in our own languages about all the great things God has done.”
12 Bonna ne beewuunya nga bawuniikiridde, ne bagambagana nti, “Kino kitegeeza ki?”
They were all amazed and confused. “What does this mean?” they asked each other.
13 Naye abalala ne baseka busesi nga bagamba nti, “Banywedde mwenge musu!”
But others jeered and said, “They've been drinking too much wine!”
14 Awo Peetero n’asituka n’abatume ekkumi n’omu, n’asitula ku ddoboozi n’ayogera eri ekibiina, n’abagamba nti, “Abasajja Abayudaaya, nammwe mwenna ababeera mu Yerusaalemi, mutegeere bino era mumpulirize.
Then Peter stood up with the eleven disciples and spoke in a loud voice: “Fellow Jews and everyone living here in Jerusalem: pay attention to me and I'll explain all this to you!
15 Abantu bano tebatamidde nga bwe mulowooza, kubanga essaawa ziri ssatu ez’enkya!
These men aren't drunk as you presume. It's only nine in the morning!
16 Naye kino kye kyayogerwako nnabbi Yoweeri nti,
What's happening is what was predicted by the prophet Joel:
17 “‘Olulituuka mu nnaku ez’oluvannyuma, bw’ayogera Katonda, ndifuka Omwoyo wange ku balina omubiri bonna. Batabani bammwe ne bawala bammwe baliwa obunnabbi; n’abavubuka bammwe balyolesebwa, n’abakadde baliroota ebirooto.
God says, ‘In the last days I will pour out my Spirit on everyone. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams.
18 Mu biro ebyo ndifuka Omwoyo wange, ku baweereza bange abasajja n’abakazi; baliwa obunnabbi.
I will pour out my Spirit on my servants, both male and female, and they will prophesy.
19 Era ndikola ebyamagero mu ggulu waggulu, n’obubonero ku nsi wansi, omusaayi n’omuliro n’ekikoomi eky’omukka.
I will also give you miraculous signs in the heavens above and on the earth below—blood, fire, and swirling smoke!
20 Enjuba erifuuka ekizikiza, n’omwezi gulimyuka ng’omusaayi, olunaku lwa Mukama olukulu era olw’ekitiibwa nga terunnatuuka.
The sun will become dark, and the moon will become red like blood before the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 Na buli muntu alikoowoola erinnya lya Mukama, alirokolebwa.’
But whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
22 “Abasajja Abayisirayiri, muwulirize ebigambo bino! Yesu Omunnazaaleesi omuntu Katonda gwe yakakasa gye muli n’ebyamagero eby’ekitalo, Katonda bye yamukozesanga ng’ali mu mmwe, nga mwenna bwe mumanyi.
People of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man confirmed by God to you by the powerful miracles and signs that God performed through him, right here among you—as you well know.
23 Naye ng’enteekateeka ya Katonda bwe yali, omuntu oyo yaweebwayo mu mikono gy’abantu abatagoberera mateeka, ne mumutta nga mumukomeredde ku musaalaba.
God, knowing beforehand what would happen, followed his plan and resolved to hand him over to you. By means of the hands of wicked men, you killed him by nailing him to a cross.
24 Kyokka Katonda yamuzuukiza ng’asaanyizaawo obulumi bw’okufa, kubanga okufa tekwayinza kumunyweza.
But God raised him back to life, freeing him from the burden of death, because death did not have the power to keep him a prisoner.
25 Kubanga Dawudi amwogerako nti, “‘Nalaba nga Mukama ali nange bulijjo, kubanga ali ku mukono gwange ogwa ddyo, nneme okusagaasagana.
David says of him, ‘I saw the Lord always in front of me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
26 Noolwekyo omutima gwange kyeguvudde gusanyuka, n’olulimi lwange ne lukutendereza. Era n’omubiri gwange gunaabeeranga mu ssuubi.
That's why I'm so happy! That's why my words are full of joy! That's why my body lives in hope!
27 Kubanga tolireka mwoyo gwange kuzikirira so toliganya mutukuvu wo kuvunda. (Hadēs g86)
For you will not abandon me in the grave, nor will you allow your Holy One to experience decay. (Hadēs g86)
28 Wandaga amakubo g’obulamu, era olinzijuza essanyu nga ndi mu maaso go.’
You have revealed to me the ways of life. You will fill me with joy with your presence.’
29 “Abasajja abooluganda, nnyinza okwogera n’obuvumu gye muli ku bifa ku jjajjaffe Dawudi nga yafa n’aziikibwa, era n’amalaalo ge weegali ne kaakano.
My brothers and sisters, let me tell you plainly that our ancestor David died and was buried, and his tomb is here with us to this day.
30 Naye Dawudi yali nnabbi, n’amanya nga Katonda yamulayirira ekirayiro, nti mu bibala eby’omu ntumbwe ze mwe muliva alituula ku ntebe ey’obwakabaka bwe,
But he was a prophet, and knew that God had promised on oath to place one of his descendants on his throne.
31 bwe yakiraba olubereberye nayogera ku kuzuukira kwa Kristo nga teyalekebwa magombe so nga n’omubiri gwe tegwavunda. (Hadēs g86)
David saw what would happen and spoke about the resurrection of Christ—for Christ was not abandoned to the grave nor did he experience decay. (Hadēs g86)
32 Yesu oyo Katonda yamuzuukiza, era ffe ffenna tuli bajulirwa.
God has raised this Jesus from the dead, and we're all witnesses of that.
33 Awo bwe yagulumizibwa n’alaga ku mukono ogwa ddyo ogwa Katonda, n’aweebwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu eyamusuubizibwa Kitaffe, n’alyoka atuwa kino nammwe kye mwerabiddeko era kye mwewuliriddeko.
Now he's been exalted to God's right hand, and has received from the Father the Holy Spirit whom he promised, and has poured out what you're seeing and hearing.
34 Kubanga Dawudi teyalinnya mu ggulu, naye agamba nti, “‘Mukama yagamba Mukama wange nti, “Tuula ku mukono gwange ogwa ddyo,
For David didn't ascend into heaven, but he did say: the Lord told my Lord, ‘Sit down here at my right hand
35 okutuusa lwe ndifuula abalabe bo entebe y’ebigere byo.”’
until I have made your enemies a stool to put your feet on.’
36 “Noolwekyo ennyumba yonna eya Isirayiri, bamanyire ddala nti oyo Yesu gwe mwakomerera ku musaalaba, Katonda yamufuula Mukama era Kristo!”
Now let everyone in Israel be totally convinced of this: God has made this Jesus, who you killed on a cross, both Lord and Messiah!”
37 Awo bwe baawuulira ebigambo ebyo, emitima ne gibaluma, ne bagamba Peetero n’abatume abalala, nti, “Abooluganda, kiki kye tusaanidde okukola?”
When the people heard this they were conscience-stricken. They asked Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”
38 Peetero n’abagamba nti, “Mwenenye, buli omu ku mmwe abatizibwe mu linnya lya Yesu Kristo musonyiyibwe ebibi byammwe, olwo nammwe mujja kufuna ekirabo ekya Mwoyo Mutukuvu.
“Repent!” Peter told them. “All of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 Kubanga ekisuubizo kiri eri mmwe n’eri abaana bammwe, n’eri bonna abali mu nsi ezeewala abalikoowoola Mukama Katonda waffe.”
This promise is given to you, to your children, and to all who are far away—everyone the Lord our God calls.”
40 Awo Peetero n’abategeeza mu bigambo ebirala bingi n’ababuulira ng’agamba nti mulokolebwe okuva mu mulembe guno ogwakyama.
Peter went on speaking, giving them much more evidence. He warned them, “Save yourselves from this perverted generation.”
41 Awo abo abakkiriza ebigambo bye ne babatizibwa ku lunaku olwo ne beeyongerako ng’enkumi ssatu.
Those who accepted what he'd said were baptized, adding about three thousand people to the group of believers that day.
42 Ne banyiikiranga okuyigirizibwa kw’abatume ne mu kussekimu, ne mu kumenya omugaati era ne mu kusaba.
They committed themselves to what the apostles had taught them, and to the fellowship of the believers, “breaking bread” and praying together.
43 Buli muntu n’ajjula okutya era ebyamagero bingi n’obubonero bungi ne bikolebwanga abatume.
Everyone was in awe, and many miracles and signs were done through the apostles.
44 Abakkiriza ne bakuŋŋaananga bulijjo mu kifo kimu, ne baba nga bassa kimu mu byonna.
All the believers were together and shared everything they had.
45 Eby’obugagga byabwe n’ebintu bye baalina ne babitunda ne bagabira buli muntu ng’okwetaaga kwe bwe kwabanga.
They sold their property and belongings, sharing the proceeds with everyone as they needed.
46 Ne banyiikiranga okukuŋŋaananga mu Yeekaalu buli lunaku, era ne bakuŋŋaananga ne mu maka gaabwe nju ku nju okumenya omugaati, ne baliiranga wamu emmere yaabwe n’essanyu lingi n’omutima ogutalina bukuusa,
Day after day they continued to meet together in the Temple, and ate together in their homes. They enjoyed their meals humbly and happily. They praised God, and everyone thought favorably of them.
47 nga batendereza Katonda, era nga basiimibwa abantu bonna. Mukama n’abongerangako bulijjo abaalokolebwanga.
Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
