1 Awo Pawulo n’asookera e Derube n’oluvannyuma n’alaga e Lusitula. Eyo waaliyo omuyigirizwa erinnya lye Timoseewo. Nnyina yali Muyudaaya omukkiriza, nga kitaawe Muyonaani,
He came also to Derbe and Lystra. And look, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who believed; but his father was a Greek.
2 abooluganda mu Lusitula ne mu Ikoniya nga bamwogerako birungi byereere.
The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.
3 Pawulo n’ayagala Timoseewo agende nabo mu lugendo lwabwe. Bw’atyo n’amala okumukomola, kubanga Abayudaaya bonna mu kitundu ekyo baali bamanyi kitaawe wa Timoseewo nga bw’ali Omuyonaani.
Paul wanted to have him go out with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts; for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
4 Awo bwe baali nga bayita mu bibuga ne babategeeza okukwatanga ebiragiro ebyasalibwawo abatume n’abakadde b’Ekkanisa mu Yerusaalemi ebikwata ku baamawanga.
As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered the decrees to them to keep which had been ordained by the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem.
5 Ekkanisa ne yeeyongeranga amaanyi mu kukkiriza era n’abantu ne beeyongera obungi buli lunaku.
So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
6 Pawulo ne banne ne batambula ne bayita mu nsi y’e Fulugiya n’e Ggalatiya kubanga Mwoyo Mutukuvu yali abaziyizza okugenda mu Asiya okubuulirayo Ekigambo.
When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.
7 Bwe baatuuka e Musiya ne bagezaako okugenda Bisuniya, naye Mwoyo wa Yesu n’atabakkiriza.
When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.
8 Kyebaava bayita obuyisi mu kitundu kya Musiya ne baserengeta e Tulowa.
Passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.
9 Ekiro ekyo Pawulo n’afuna okwolesebwa, omusajja Omumakedoni ng’ayimiridde mu maaso ge ng’amwegayirira nti, “Jjangu ewaffe e Makedoniya otuyambe.”
A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him, and saying, "Come over into Macedonia and help us."
10 Pawulo bwe yafuna okwolesebwa okwo ne yeetegeka mangu okulaga e Makedoniya, kubanga yakitegeera nga Katonda atutumye okubabuulira Enjiri.
When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to proclaim the Good News to them.
11 Awo ne tusaabala ku nnyanja e Tulowa, ne tuwunguka okutuuka e Samoserakiya, enkeera ne tulaga e Neyapoli,
Then, setting sail from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis;
12 n’oluvannyuma ne tutuuka e Firipi, ettwale ly’Abaruumi, era nga ky’ekibuga ekikulu mu kitundu ekyo ekya Makedoniya. Ne tumalawo ennaku ntonotono.
and from there to Philippi, which is a principle city of that district of Macedonia, a colony. We were staying some days in this city.
13 Ku Ssabbiiti ne tufuluma mu kibuga okulaga ku mugga ogwali okumpi n’ekibuga gye baali batutegeezezza nti waliwo abakuŋŋaanirayo okusabirayo. Ne tutuula wamu n’abakazi abaali bazze okusaba ne twogera nabo.
On the Sabbath day we went forth outside of the gate by a riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down, and spoke to the women who had come together.
14 Omu ku bakazi abo erinnya lye nga ye Ludiya, yali musuubuzi wa ngoye ez’effulungu ng’abeera mu kibuga Suwatira. Yali asinza Katonda bulijjo. Katonda n’amubikkulira okutegeera obulungi ebyo Pawulo bye yali ayigiriza.
A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshiped God, heard us; whose heart the Lord opened to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.
15 Bw’atyo n’abatizibwa n’ab’omu nnyumba ye bonna. N’atuyita tumukyalire mu maka ge, ng’agamba nti, “Obanga mukakasa nti nzikirizza Mukama, mujje mubeere mu maka gange.” N’atuwaliriza.
When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and stay." So she persuaded us.
16 Olunaku lumu twali tuserengeta ku mugga mu kifo we twasabiranga, ne tusisinkana omuwala omuddu ng’aliko ddayimooni eyalagulanga, era n’afuniranga bakama be ensimbi nnyingi.
It happened, as we were going to prayer, that a certain girl having a spirit of Python met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.
17 N’atuvaako emabega ng’aleekaana nti, “Bano baddu ba Katonda Ali Waggulu Ennyo, era babategeeza ekkubo ly’obulokozi.”
She followed Paul and us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation."
18 Ekyo yakikola okumala ennaku nnyingi Pawulo n’anyiiga. Pawulo kyeyava akyuka n’agamba ddayimooni nti, “Nkulagira mu linnya lya Yesu Kristo, muveeko!” Era amangwago dayimooni n’ava ku muwala.
She was doing this for many days. But Paul, becoming greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And it came out at once.
19 Bannannyini muwala bwe baalaba nga tewakyali ssuubi lya kwongera kumufunamu nsimbi, ne bakwata Pawulo ne Siira ne babatwala mu katale eri ab’obuyinza.
But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.
20 Ne babaleeta mu maaso g’abalamuzi, ne bagamba nti, “Abasajja bano Bayudaaya, basasamaza ekibuga kyaffe
When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, "These men, being Jews, are agitating our city,
21 nga bayigiriza empisa n’obulombolombo bye tutakkirizibwa kugoberera na kukozesa mu mateeka gaffe ag’Ekiruumi.”
and set forth customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe, being Romans."
22 Ekibiina ky’abantu ne kibeeyiwako, abalamuzi ne balagira bambulwemu engoye era bakubwe emiggo.
The crowd rose up together against them, and the magistrates tore their clothes off of them, and commanded them to be beaten with rods.
23 Bwe baamala okukubwa emiggo mingi, ne baggalirwa mu kkomera, era omukuumi w’ekkomera n’akuutirwa abakuume butiribiri.
When they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely,
24 Omukulu w’ekkomera bwe yafuna ebiragiro ebyo, n’abateekera ddala mu kkomera ery’omunda, n’amagulu gaabwe n’agassa mu nvuba.
who, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison, and secured their feet in the stocks.
25 Awo ekiro mu ttumbi Pawulo ne Siira bwe baali nga basaba, era nga bwe bayimba n’ennyimba ez’okutendereza Katonda, nga n’abasibe abalala bawuliriza,
But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
26 amangwago ne wabaawo musisi ow’amaanyi ennyo. Emisingi gy’ekkomera ne ginyeenyezebwa, n’enzigi z’ekkomera zonna ne zibanduka ne zeggula, era n’enjegere ezaali zisibye abasibe ne zisumulukuka ne zigwa eri!
Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were loosened.
27 Omukuumi w’ekkomera n’azuukuka, n’alaba ng’enzigi zonna nzigule, n’alowooza nti abasibe bonna badduse, n’asowolayo ekitala kye yette!
The jailer, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.
28 Naye Pawulo n’aleekaana nti, “Teweekola kabi!”
But Paul shouted loudly, saying, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here."
29 Omukuumi w’ekkomera n’akankana nnyo ng’ajjudde entiisa nnyingi, n’alagira ne baleeta ettaala, n’afubutuka n’ayingira munda, n’agwa wansi mu maaso ga Pawulo ne Siira ng’akankana.
He called for lights and sprang in, and, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas,
30 Awo n’abafulumya, n’ababuuza nti, “Bassebo, nkole ki okulokolebwa?”
and brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
31 Ne bamugamba nti, “Kkiriza Mukama waffe Yesu onoolokolebwa, ggwe n’ennyumba yo yonna.”
They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."
32 Awo ne bamubuulira Ekigambo kya Mukama waffe, ye n’ab’omu maka ge bonna.
They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.
33 Mu kiseera ekyo kyennyini n’abatwala n’abanaaza ebiwundu. Era ye n’ab’omu maka ge bonna ne babatizibwa.
He took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes, and was immediately baptized, he and all his household.
34 Omukuumi w’ekkomera n’abatwala mu nnyumba ye, n’abawa emmere, era amaka gonna ne gajjula essanyu kubanga baali bakkirizza Katonda.
He brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his household, having believed in God.
35 Awo obudde bwe bwakya, abalamuzi ne batuma abaserikale eri omukuumi w’ekkomera ne bamugamba nti, “Abasajja abo basumulule.”
But when it was day, the magistrates sent the sergeants, saying, "Let those men go."
36 Omukuumi w’ekkomera n’ategeeza Pawulo nti, “Abalamuzi balagidde muteebwe. Noolwekyo kaakano mugende mirembe.”
The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, "The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore come out, and go in peace."
37 Naye Pawulo n’addamu nti, “Ekyo ffe tetukikkiriza! Baatukubidde mu lujjudde lw’abantu nga tebamaze na kutuwozesa, ne batusiba mu kkomera, ng’ate tuli Baruumi! Olwo kaakano baagala batusumulule mu kyama? Nedda! Bo bennyini be baba bajja batuggye mu kkomera!”
But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us publicly, without a trial, men who are Romans, and have cast us into prison. Do they now release us secretly? No indeed. Let them come themselves and bring us out."
38 Abaserikale abaatumibwa ne bazzaayo ebigambo eri abalamuzi. Naye bwe baawulira nti Pawulo ne Siira Baruumi ne batya nnyo.
The sergeants reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,
39 Ne bajja mu kkomera ne basaba Pawulo ne Siira bagende, ne babaggya mu kkomera ne babeegayirira babaviire mu kibuga kyabwe.
and they came and apologized to them. When they had brought them out, they asked them to depart from the city.
40 Pawulo ne Siira bwe baava mu kkomera ne bagenda mu maka ga Ludiya, ne bongera okubuulira abooluganda ekigambo kya Katonda nga babanyweza, n’oluvannyuma ne basitula ne bagenda.
They went out of the prison, and entered into Lydia's house. When they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them, and departed.
