< Ebikolwa by’Abatume 14 >
1 Awo Pawulo ne Balunabba bwe baatuuka mu Ikoniya ne bayingira mu kkuŋŋaaniro ly’Abayudaaya. Ne babuulira n’amaanyi mangi era abantu bangi Abayudaaya n’Abayonaani ne bakkiriza.
It happened in Iconium that they entered together into the Jewish synagogue, and so spoke that a great number of both of Jews and of Greeks believed.
2 Naye Abayudaaya abaagaana okukkiriza ne bassa omutima omubi mu baamawanga okukyawa abooluganda.
But the disbelieving Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the non-Jewish people against the brothers.
3 Ne baabeerayo ebbanga gwanvu nga babuulira n’obuvumu, era Mukama n’akakasanga ekigambo ky’ekisa kye ng’abawa okukola obubonero n’ebyamagero.
Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who testified to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
4 Naye ekibiina ky’abantu mu kibuga ne kyawukanamu abamu ne bagoberera Abayudaaya n’abalala ne bakkiriza abatume.
But the population of the city was divided. Some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.
5 Abayudaaya n’abakulembeze baabwe awamu n’Abamawanga, ne basala olukwe okubonyaabonya abatume, n’okubakuba amayinja.
When some of both the non-Jewish people and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them,
6 Naye Pawulo ne Balunabba olukwe ne baluggukamu ne baddukira mu bibuga ebya Lukawoniya ne Lusitula ne Derube, ne mu bitundu ebiriraanyeewo,
they became aware of it, and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region.
7 era n’eyo ne babuulirirayo Enjiri.
There they preached the gospel.
8 Mu Lusitula mwalimu omusajja eyazaalibwa nga mulema, ng’ebigere bye bigongobavu, nga tatambulangako.
At Lystra a certain man sat, without strength in his feet, a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked.
9 N’atuula awo ng’awuliriza Pawulo bye yali ayogera. Pawulo n’amwekaliriza amaaso n’alaba ng’alina okukkiriza okuwonyezebwa.
He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,
10 Pawulo n’amugamba mu ddoboozi ery’omwanguka nti, “Yimirira ku bigere byo, weegolole!” Amangwago omusajja n’ayimirira, n’atandika okutambula!
said with a loud voice, "Stand upright on your feet." He leaped up and walked.
11 Awo ekibiina ky’abantu bwe baalaba Pawulo ky’akoze, ne baleekaanira waggulu mu lulimi lwabwe Olulikaoniya nti, “Bakatonda basse wansi gye tuli nga bali mu kifaananyi ky’abantu!”
When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, "The gods have come down to us in human form."
12 Balunabba ne bamuyita Zewu, Pawulo ne bamuyita Kerume kubanga ye yali omwogezi omukulu.
They called Barnabas "Jupiter," and Paul "Mercury," because he was the chief speaker.
13 Awo kabona wa Zewu, eyali ebweru w’ekibuga, n’agenda n’aleeta ente ennume n’ebimuli ku wankaaki, ye n’ekibiina ky’abantu ne baagala okuwaayo ssaddaaka.
The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the crowds.
14 Naye abatume, Balunabba ne Pawulo, bwe baabiwulira, ne bayuza engoye zaabwe, ne bafubutuka ne bayingira mu kibiina ky’abantu nga baleekaana nga bagamba nti,
But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes, and sprang into the crowd, crying out,
15 “Abasajja! Kiki ekibakozesa ebintu bino? Naffe tuli bantu buntu nga mmwe! Twazze tubabuulire mukyuke okuva ku bintu bino ebitaliimu mudde eri Katonda omulamu eyakola eggulu n’ensi, n’ennyanja n’ebintu byonna ebirimu.
"Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them;
16 Mu mirembe egyayita yaleka amawanga gonna okukwata amakubo ge baayagalanga.
who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.
17 Kyokka tasigalirangako awo nga talina bujulirwa ng’abakolera ebirungi okuva mu ggulu, ng’aweereza enkuba, n’okubawa ebiro eby’okubalizangamu ebibala n’okubakkusa emmere, era n’okubajjuza essanyu mu mitima gyabwe.”
Yet he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness."
18 Newaakubadde baabategeeza bwe batyo, naye era katono balemwe okuziyiza ebibiina okubawa ssaddaaka.
Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the crowds from making a sacrifice to them.
19 Awo Abayudaaya ne batuuka nga bava mu Antiyokiya ne mu Ikoniya, ne basasamaza ebibiina, ne bakuba Pawulo amayinja ne bamukulula ne bamutwala ebweru w’ekibuga nga balowooza nti afudde.
But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.
20 Naye abayigirizwa ne bajja ne bayimirira okumwetooloola, n’asituka n’addayo mu kibuga! Enkeera ne basitula ne Balunabba ne balaga mu Derube.
But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.
21 Ne babuulira Enjiri mu kibuga ekyo, era abantu bangi ne bakkiriza. Ne baddayo mu Lusitula, ne mu Ikoniya, ne mu Antiyokiya,
When they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,
22 ne babuulirira abakkiriza, nga babakubiriza banywerere mu kukkiriza, era ne babagamba nti, “Kitugwanidde okuyingira mu bwakabaka bwa Katonda nga tuyita mu bibonoobono ebingi.”
confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into the Kingdom of God.
23 Pawulo ne Balunabba buli kkanisa baagironderamu abakadde. Ne basaba ne basiiba, ne babakwasa Mukama, oyo gwe bakkiriza.
When they had appointed elders for them in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.
24 Awo ne batambula ne bayita mu Pisidiya ne batuuka e Panfuliya,
They passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.
25 bwe baamala okubuulira ebigambo mu Peruga, ne beeyongerayo mu Ataliya.
When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
26 Oluvannyuma ne basaabala ku nnyanja okuddayo mu Antiyokiya, gye baali baasigirwa ekisa kya Katonda olw’omulimu gwe baakola.
From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.
27 Bwe baatuuka, ne bakuŋŋaanya ekkanisa ne babategeeza ebyafa mu lugendo lwabwe, ne byonna Katonda bye yabakozesa, n’Abamawanga nga bwe yabaggulirawo oluggi olw’okukkiriza.
When they had arrived, and had gathered the church together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.
28 Ne babeera eyo ne bamalayo ebbanga ggwanvu nga bali n’abayigirizwa.
And they stayed with the disciples a long time.
