< 2 Peetero 3 >
1 Abaagalwa, eno y’ebbaluwa eyookubiri gye mbawandiikira. Mu bbaluwa zombi ngezezzaako okubakubiriza mutegeerere ddala ebyo ebituufu era ebisaana.
Beloved, this is now the second letter that I am writing to you. In both of them I have tried to stir up your sincere mind by way of reminder,
2 Mujjukire ebyo ebyayogerwa bannabbi abatukuvu n’ekiragiro kya Mukama waffe era Omulokozi waffe ekyaweebwa abatume bammwe.
so that you remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the commandment of our Lord and Savior given through your apostles.
3 Ekisooka, mutegeerere ddala nga mu nnaku ez’oluvannyuma abantu abagoberera okwegomba kw’omubiri gwabwe balijja mu mmwe nga babasekerera,
First of all, you must understand that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts.
4 nga bwe bagamba nti, “Eyasuubiza nti alijja, aluwa? Kubanga kasookedde bajjajjaffe bafa, ebintu byonna biri nga bwe byabanga okuva ensi lwe yatondebwa!”
They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, everything continues as it has since the beginning of creation.”
5 Beefuula abatamanyi nti edda Katonda yalagira bulagizi, era olw’ekigambo eggulu n’ensi ne bitondebwa. Olw’ekigambo kya Katonda ensi yatondebwa ng’eggyibwa mu mazzi era n’ebeera wakati w’amazzi.
They deliberately overlook the fact that by the word of God the heavens came into being long ago and the earth emerged through the water and was separated from the water.
6 Era olw’ekigambo ekyo ensi eyo ey’edda, amazzi gaagisaanyaawo n’ezikirira.
And by the water and the word, the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.
7 Era olw’ekigambo ekyo, eggulu n’ensi ebiriwo kaakano bikuumibwa nga birindiridde okwokebwa omuliro ku lunaku olw’okusalirako omusango, n’okuzikirizibwa kw’abo abatatya Katonda.
Furthermore, by his word the heavens and the earth that now exist have been reserved for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and the destruction of the ungodly.
8 Naye, abooluganda, temusaana, kwerabira nti mu maaso ga Mukama emyaka olukumi giri ng’olunaku olumu, era n’olunaku olumu luli ng’emyaka olukumi.
But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.
9 Mukama waffe taludde kutuukiriza ekyo kye yasuubiza ng’abamu bwe balowooza. Wabula ye akyabagumiikiriza, nga tayagala muntu yenna kubula, naye bonna beenenye.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness, but is patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
10 Naye olunaku lwa Mukama waffe lulijja ng’omubbi bw’ajja nga tewali n’omu amanyi; eggulu lirivaawo nga liwuuma nnyo, n’ebiririko birizikirizibwa n’omuliro, era ensi n’ebintu ebigirimu birisirikka.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. On that day the heavens will pass away with a roar, the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
11 Kale obanga ebintu byonna bya kuzikirizibwa, mugwanidde kubeeranga bantu ba mpisa ntukuvu era abatya Katonda,
Therefore, since all these things will be destroyed, what sort of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness,
12 nga mulindirira era nga mwegomba nnyo olunaku lwa Katonda okutuuka, olunaku obwengula bwonna bwe buryokebwa ne buzikirizirwa n’ebiburimu ne bisaanuuka ne bisirikka.
waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God. On that day the heavens will be set on fire and destroyed, and the elements will melt in the intense heat.
13 Naye nga Katonda bwe yatusuubiza, tulindirira obwengula obuggya n’ensi empya omuli obutuukirivu.
But, according to his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
14 Kale, abaagalwa, nga bwe mulindirira ebintu ebyo okubaawo mufubenga nnyo okuba abalongoofu abataliiko kya kunenyezebwa nga mulina emirembe.
Therefore, beloved, as you wait for these things, be diligent to be found at peace, spotless and blameless in his sight.
15 Kyokka mulowoozenga ku kubonyaabonyezebwa okw’obulokozi bwa Mukama waffe, nga ne muganda waffe omwagalwa Pawulo kye yabategeeza mu bbaluwa ze yabawandiikira mu magezi Katonda ge yamuwa.
And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul has written to you according to the wisdom given to him.
16 Weewaawo ebbaluwa ze zirimu bingi ebizibu okutegeera, kyokka buli lw’awandiika aba ayogera ku nsonga ezo; wabula bo abatamanyi era abatali banywevu babinnyonnyola nga bwe bannyonnyola ebyawandiikibwa ebirala ne beereetako okuzikirira.
He speaks about these things in all his letters. Some of the things he says are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people twist to their own destruction, just as they do with the other Scriptures.
17 Kale, mmwe abaagalwa, ebyo nga bwe mubitegedde, mwekuume muleme kukyamizibwa abantu abo abajeemu, si kulwa nga babaleetera okugwa ne muva we munyweredde.
Therefore, beloved, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you will not be led astray by the error of these lawless men and fall from your own secure position.
18 Mweyongere okukula mu kisa ne mu kutegeera Mukama waffe era Omulokozi waffe Yesu Kristo. Oyo aweebwenga ekitiibwa kaakano n’emirembe gyonna. Amiina. (aiōn )
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (aiōn )
