1 Kabaka Keezeekiya olwawulira ebyo byonna, n’ayuza ebyambalo bye, n’ayambala ebibukutu, n’alaga mu yeekaalu ya Mukama.
And it came to pass when king Ezekias heard it, that he rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth, an went into the house of the Lord.
2 N’atuma Eriyakimu eyali ssabakaaki, ne Sebuna omuwandiisi ne bakabona ab’oku ntikko, nga bonna bambadde ebibukutu, okugenda eri Isaaya nnabbi mutabani wa Amozi.
And he sent Heliakim the steward, and Somnas the scribe, and the elders of the priests, clothed with sackcloth, to Esaias the prophet the son of Amos.
3 Ne bamugamba nti, “Bw’ati bw’ayogera Keezeekiya nti Leero lunaku lwa buyinike, era lwa kunenyezebwa, era lwa kuswazibwa, ng’abaana bwe batuuka okuzaalibwa, naye ne wataba maanyi ga ku bazaala.
And they said to him, Thus says Ezekias, This day [is] a day of tribulation, and rebuke, and provocation: for the children are come to the travail-[pangs], but the mother has no strength.
4 Kiyinzika okuba nga Mukama Katonda wo yawulidde obubaka bwonna obwa Labusake, mukama we kabaka w’e Bwasuli bwe yaweereza ng’anyooma Katonda omulamu, era nti amunenye olw’ebigambo byonna Mukama Katonda wo by’awulidde. Noolwekyo ssabira ekitundu ekikyasigaddewo.”
Peradventure the Lord thy God will hear all the words of Rapsakes, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God and to revile him with the words which the Lord thy God has heard: and thou shalt offer [thy] prayer for the remnant that is found.
5 Awo abakungu ba Kabaka Keezeekiya bwe baatuuka eri Isaaya,
So the servants of king Ezekias came to Esaias.
6 Isaaya n’abagamba nti, “Mutegeeze mukama wammwe nti, ‘Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama nti, Ebigambo by’owulidde, abaddu ba kabaka w’e Bwasuli bye banvumye, tebikutiisa.
And Esaias said to them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the Lord, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of the Assyrians have blasphemed.
7 Wuliriza! Nzija kumuteekamu omwoyo, awulire olugambo ku bikwata ku nsi ye addeyo mu nsi ye, era gye ndimuzikiririza n’ekitala.’”
Behold, I send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a report, and shall return to his own land; and I will overthrow him with the sword in his own land.
8 Labusake bwe yawulira nti kabaka w’e Bwasuli avudde mu Lakisi, n’avaayo, n’asanga kabaka ng’alwana ne Libuna.
So Rapsakes returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Lobna: for he heard that he [had] departed from Lachis.
9 Awo Sennakeribu n’afuna obubaka obukwata ku Tiraka kabaka w’e Esiyopya nti, “Laba amaliridde okulwana naawe,” era n’addamu n’atuma ababaka eri Keezeekiya ng’agamba nti,
And he heard concerning Tharaca king of the Ethiopians, saying, Behold, he is come forth to fight with thee: and he returned, and sent messengers to Ezekias, saying,
10 “Bwe muti bwe munagamba Keezeekiya kabaka wa Yuda nti, ‘Tokkiriza Katonda wo gwe weesiga kukulimbalimba ng’akusuubiza nti Yerusaalemi teriweebwayo mu mukono gwa kabaka w’e Bwasuli.’
Let not thy God on whom thou trustest encourage thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hands of the king of the Assyrians.
11 Ekyamazima wawulira bakabaka b’e Bwasuli kye bakoze amawanga gonna, nga bagasaanyizaawo ddala. Olowooza nti olirokolebwa?
Behold, thou hast heard all that the kings of the Assyrians have done in all the lands, to waste them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?
12 Bakatonda baamawanga ag’e Gozani, n’e Kalani, n’e Lezefu, n’abantu ba Adeni abaali mu Terasali, abasaanyizibwawo bajjajjange, babalokola?
Have the gods of the nations at all delivered them, whom my fathers destroyed; both Gozan, and Charran, and Raphis, and the sons of Edem who were in Thaesthen?
13 Kabaka w’e Kamasi, kabaka w’e Alupadi, kabaka w’ekibuga kya Sefavayimu, oba kabaka w’e Kena oba kabaka w’e Yiva, bali ludda wa?”
Where is the king of Haemath, and the king of Arphad? and where is the king of the city of Seppharvaim, of Ana, and Aba?
14 Keezeekiya n’afuna ebbaluwa eyaleetebwa ababaka, n’agisoma. N’ayambuka n’agenda mu yeekaalu ya Mukama, n’agyanjuluza mu maaso ga Mukama.
And Ezekias took the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and he went up to the house of the Lord, and Ezekias spread it before the Lord,
15 Keezeekiya n’asaba eri Mukama ng’agamba nti, “Ayi Mukama Katonda wa Isirayiri, atuula waggulu ku bakerubi, ggwe wekka, ggwe Katonda ow’obwakabaka bwonna obw’ensi, era ggwe wakola eggulu n’ensi.
and said, O Lord God of Israel that dwellest over the cherubs, thou art the only god in all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
16 Otege okutu kwo, Ayi Mukama, owulire; ozibule amaaso go Ayi Mukama, olabe; owulire ebigambo bya Sennakeribu, byayogedde ng’avvoola Katonda omulamu.
Incline thine ear, O Lord, and hear: open, Lord, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherim, which he has sent to reproach the living God.
17 “Kya mazima, Ayi Mukama, nti bakabaka b’e Bwasuli baazikiriza amawanga n’ensi zaabwe,
For truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have wasted the nations,
18 ne basuula bakatonda baabwe mu muliro. Naye abo tebaali Katonda, baali mirimu gy’emikono gy’abantu, nga mbaawo n’amayinja, era kyebaava bazikirizibwa.
and have cast their gods into the fire: because they are no gods, but the works of men's hands, wood and stone; and they have destroyed them.
19 Kaakano, Ayi Mukama, Katonda waffe, tukwegayiridde, otulokole mu mukono gwe, amawanga gonna ku nsi gamanye nga ggwe, Ayi Mukama, gwe Katonda wekka.”
And now, O Lord our God, deliver us out of his hand, and all the kingdoms of the earth shall know that thou alone [art] the Lord God.
20 Awo Isaaya mutabani wa Amozi n’aweereza Keezeekiya obubaka nti: “Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama, Katonda wa Isirayiri nti, Mpulidde okusaba kwo ku bikwata ku Sennakeribu kabaka w’e Bwasuli.
And Esaias the son of Amos sent to Ezekias, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, I have heard thy prayer to me concerning Sennacherim king of the Assyrians.
21 Kino kye kigambo Mukama ky’ayogedde ku bimukwatako: “‘Omuwala wa Sayuuni embeerera akunyooma era akusekerera. Omuwala wa Yerusaalemi akunyeenyeza omutwe gwe nga bw’odduka.
This [is] the word which the Lord has spoken against him; The virgin daughter of Sion has made light of thee, and mocked thee; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at thee.
22 Ani gw’ovumye era n’ovvoola? Ani gw’okandulidde eddoboozi lyo, era ani gw’oyimusirizza amaaso go n’amalala? Obikoze Omutukuvu wa Isirayiri!
Whom hast thou reproached, and whom hast thou reviled? and against whom hast thou lifted up thy voice, and raised thine eyes on high? [Is it] against the Holy One of Israel?
23 Ojereze Mukama ng’oyita mu babaka bo. Era ogambye nti, “Nninye ku ntikko z’ensozi n’amagaali gange amangi, ku ntikko ezisingirayo ddala obuwanvu eza Lebanooni. Ntemye emivule egisingirayo ddala obuwanvu n’emiberosi gyayo egisingirayo ddala obulungi. Ntuuse ne mu bifo ebisingirayo ddala okuba ebikusike ne mu bibira ebisingirayo ddala okuba ebirungi.
By thy messengers thou has reproached the Lord, and hast said, I will go up with the multitude of my chariots, to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Libanus, and I have cut down the height of his cedar, [and] his choice cypresses; and I have come into the midst of the forest and of Carmel.
24 Nsimye enzizi mu bannamawanga, n’enywa amazzi gaamu. Nkazizza emigga egy’e Misiri gyonna, nga ngirinnyirira n’ebisinziiro by’ebigere byange.”
I have refreshed [myself], and have drunk strange waters, and I have dried up with the sole of my foot all the rivers of fortified places.
25 “‘Tewawulira nga nakisalawo dda? Mu biro eby’edda nakiteekateeka, era kaakano nkituukirizza, olyoke ofuule ebibuga ebiriko bbugwe okuba ng’entuumo y’amayinja.
I have brought about [the matter], I have brought it to a conclusion; and it is come to the destruction of the bands of warlike prisoners, [even of] strong cities.
26 Ababituulamu tebakyalina buyinza, batekemuse era baswazibbwa. Bafaanana ng’ebimera eby’omu nnimiro, ng’omuddo omubisi, ng’omuddo ogusibuse mu busolya bw’ennyumba, ne gutugibwa nga tegunnakula.
And they that dwelt in them were weak in hand, they quaked and were confounded, they became [as] grass of the field, or [as] the green herb, the grass [growing on] houses, and that which is trodden down by him that stands [upon it].
27 “‘Naye mmanyi obutuuliro bwo era mmanyi okufuluma kwo n’okuyingira kwo n’obuswandi bw’ondaga.
But I know thy down-sitting, and thy going forth, and thy rage against me.
28 Kubanga ondaze obuswandi bwo, n’obujoozi bwo ne mbuwulira mu matu gange, kyendiva nteeka eddobo lyange mu nnyindo yo n’olukoba lwange mu mumwa gwo, era oliddirayo mu kkubo lye wajjiramu.’
Because thou was angry against me, and thy fierceness is come up into my ears, therefore will I put my hooks in thy nostrils, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
29 “Era kano ke kanaaba akabonero ko, ggwe Keezeekiya. “Omwaka guno olirya ekyo ekimera kyokka, ne mu mwaka ogwokubiri ekiriva mw’ekyo. Naye mu mwaka ogwokusatu siga era okungule; era simba ennimiro ez’emizabbibu, olye ku bibala bya kwo.
And this shall be a sign to thee; eat this year the things that grow of themselves, and in the second year the things which spring up: and in the third year [let there be] sowing, and reaping, and planting of vineyards, and eat ye the fruit of them.
30 Ekitundu ekisigaddewo eky’ennyumba ya Isirayiri kyekiriva kiddamu ne kisimba emizi wansi, ne kibala ebibala waggulu.
And he shall increase him that has escaped of the house of Juda: and the remnant [shall strike] root beneath, and it shall produce fruit above.
31 Mu Yerusaalemi muliva ekitundu ekifisseewo, ne mu Lusozi Sayuuni ne muva abo abaliwona. Obuggya bwa Mukama ow’Eggye bulikituukiriza.
For from Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and he that escapes from the mountain of Sion: the zeal of the Lord of host shall do this.
32 “Noolwekyo bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama ku bikwata ku kabaka w’e Bwasuli, nti, “‘Kabaka oyo taliyingira mu kibuga kino, wadde okulasayo akasaale. Talikisemberera n’engabo newaakubadde okutuumako ekifunvu ng’akitaayiza.
[Is it] not so? Thus saith the Lord concerning the king of the Assyrians, He shall not enter into this city, and he shall not shoot an arrow there, neither shall a shield come against it, neither shall he heap a mound against it.
33 Ekkubo lye yakwata ng’ajja, omwo mw’aliddira, naye taliyingira mu kibuga kino, bw’ayogera Mukama.
By the way by which he comes, by it shall he return, and he shall not enter into this city, saith the Lord.
34 Ndirwanirira ekibuga kino nkirokole, ku lwange, ne ku lw’omuddu wange Dawudi.’”
And I will defend this city as with a shield, for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
35 Ekiro ekyo malayika wa Mukama n’agenda mu nkambi ey’Abasuuli n’atta abasajja emitwalo kkumi na munaana mu enkumi ttaano. Ku makya abantu bwe baagolokoka, laba nga bonna mirambo.
And it came to pass at night that the angel of the Lord went forth, an smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand: and they rose early in the morning, and, behold, [these were] all dead corpses.
36 Awo Sennakeribu kabaka w’e Bwasuli n’ava mu nkambi, n’addayo ewuwe, n’agenda n’abeera e Nineeve.
And Sennacherim king of the Assyrians departed, and went and returned, and dwelt in Nineve.
37 Awo bwe yali ng’asinziza mu ssabo lya katonda we Nisuloki Adulammereki ne Salezeri batabani be ne bamutta n’ekitala, ne baddukira mu nsi y’e Alalati. Esaladoni mutabani we n’amusikira.
And it came to pass, while he was worshipping in the house of Meserach his god, that Adramelech and Sarasar his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Ararath; and Asordan his son reigned in his stead.
