1 Mu mwaka ogw’amakumi abiri mu omusanvu ogw’obufuzi bwa Yerobowaamu kabaka wa Isirayiri, Azaliya mutabani wa ssekabaka Amaziya n’alya obwakabaka bwa Yuda.
In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam’s reign over Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah became king of Judah.
2 Yalina emyaka kkumi na mukaaga bwe yatandika okufuga, n’afugira emyaka amakumi ataano mu ebiri mu Yerusaalemi. Erinnya lya nnyina ye yali Yekoliya ow’e Yerusaalemi.
He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother’s name was Jecoliah; she was from Jerusalem.
3 Yakola ebyali ebirungi mu maaso ga Mukama, nga kitaawe Amaziya bwe yali akoze.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Amaziah had done.
4 Wabula ebifo ebigulumivu gye baweeranga ssaddaaka tebyaggibwawo, era abantu beeyongeranga okuweerangayo ssaddaaka n’okwoterezangayo obubaane.
Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away; the people continued sacrificing and burning incense there.
5 Awo Mukama n’aleetera kabaka obulwadde n’agengewala, ennaku ze zonna okutuusa bwe yafa, era n’aggyibwako emirimu egy’obuvunaanyizibwa n’ateekebwa mu nnyumba ey’enjawulo. Azaliya n’asigira Yosamu mutabani we okuvunaanyizibwanga ensonga zonna ez’omu lubiri, era n’afuganga n’abantu ab’omu nsi.
And the LORD afflicted the king with leprosy until the day he died, so that he lived in a separate house while his son Jotham had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.
6 Ebyafaayo ebirala byonna ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Azaliya, ne bye yakola byonna, tebyawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Yuda?
As for the rest of the acts of Azariah, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
7 Awo Azaliya n’afa, n’aziikibwa ku biggya bya bajjajjaabe mu kibuga kya Dawudi, Yosamu mutabani we n’amusikira okuba kabaka.
And Azariah rested with his fathers and was buried near them in the City of David. And his son Jotham reigned in his place.
8 Mu mwaka ogw’amakumi asatu mu omunaana ogw’obufuzi bwa Azaliya kabaka wa Yuda, Zekkaliya mutabani wa Yerobowaamu n’alya obwakabaka bwa Isirayiri mu Samaliya, n’afugira emyezi mukaaga.
In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah’s reign over Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria six months.
9 N’akola ebibi mu maaso ga Mukama, nga bajjajjaabe bwe baakola, n’atakyuka okuva mu bibi bya Yerobowaamu mutabani wa Nebati bye yayonoonyesa Isirayiri.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done. He did not turn away from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit.
10 Awo Sallumu mutabani wa Yabesi, n’asala olukwe n’amuttira mu lujjudde lw’abantu, era n’alya obwakabaka.
Then Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah, struck him down and killed him in front of the people, and reigned in his place.
11 Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Zekkaliya, byawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Isirayiri.
As for the rest of the acts of Zechariah, they are indeed written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
12 Awo ekigambo Mukama kye yagamba Yeeku ne kituukirira, era kyali kigamba nti, “Bazzukulu bo balirya obwakabaka bwa Isirayiri okutuusa ku muzzukulu owookuna.”
So the word of the LORD spoken to Jehu was fulfilled: “Four generations of your sons will sit on the throne of Israel.”
13 Awo Sallumu mutabani wa Yabesi n’atandika okufuga mu mwaka ogw’amakumi asatu mu mwenda ogw’obufuzi bwa Uzziya kabaka wa Yuda, era n’afugira omwezi gumu mu Samaliya.
In the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah’s reign over Judah, Shallum son of Jabesh became king, and he reigned in Samaria one full month.
14 Menakemu mutabani wa Gaadi n’ava e Tiruza n’agenda okulumba Sallumu mutabani wa Yabesi e Samaliya, era n’amutta. Ye n’afuuka kabaka mu kifo kye.
Then Menahem son of Gadi went up from Tirzah to Samaria, struck down and killed Shallum son of Jabesh, and reigned in his place.
15 Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Sallumu, n’olukwe lwe yasala, byawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Isirayiri.
As for the rest of the acts of Shallum, along with the conspiracy he led, they are indeed written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
16 Mu kiseera ekyo Menakemu n’alumba Tifusa n’azikiriza buli muntu eyalimu, na buli kintu ekyali kikirinaanye ng’atandikira ku nsalo yaakyo ne Tiruza, kubanga tebaamwaniriza. Abakyala abaali embuto nabo n’abatta ng’ababaaga.
At that time Menahem, starting from Tirzah, attacked Tiphsah and everyone in its vicinity, because they would not open their gates. So he attacked Tiphsah and ripped open all the pregnant women.
17 Mu mwaka ogw’amakumi asatu mu mwenda ogw’obufuzi bwa Azaliya kabaka wa Yuda, Menakemu mutabani wa Gaadi n’alya obwakabaka bwa Isirayiri, era n’afugira emyaka kkumi mu Samaliya.
In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah’s reign over Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria ten years.
18 Yakola ebibi mu maaso ga Mukama, era ebbanga lyonna we yabeerera kabaka, n’atakyuka kuleka bibi bya Yerobowaamu mutabani wa Nebati bye yayonoonyesa Isirayiri.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and throughout his reign he did not turn away from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit.
19 Awo Puli kabaka w’e Bwasuli n’alumba Isirayiri, naye Menakemu n’amusuubiza okumuwa ttani amakumi asatu mu nnya eza ffeeza ng’amusaba okumuwanirira n’okumunyweza ku ntebe ey’obwakabaka.
Then Pul king of Assyria invaded the land, and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver in order to gain his support and strengthen his own grip on the kingdom.
20 Menakemu n’asoloozanga ensimbi ku Bayisirayiri, buli musajja omugagga ng’awaayo gulaamu desimoolo mukaaga eza ffeeza, okuwa kabaka w’e Bwasuli. Awo kabaka w’e Bwasuli n’abaviira mu nsi yaabwe.
Menahem exacted this money from each of the wealthy men of Israel—fifty shekels of silver from each man—to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and did not remain in the land.
21 Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Menakemu, ne bye yakola byonna, tebyawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Isirayiri?

22 Menakemu n’afa, Pekakiya mutabani we n’amusikira okuba kabaka.
And Menahem rested with his fathers, and his son Pekahiah reigned in his place.
23 Mu mwaka ogw’amakumi ataano ogw’obufuzi bwa Azaliya kabaka wa Yuda, Pekakiya mutabani wa Menakemu n’alya obwakabaka bwa Isirayiri mu Samaliya, era n’afugira emyaka ebiri.
In the fiftieth year of Azariah’s reign over Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king of Israel and reigned in Samaria two years.
24 Yakola ebibi mu maaso ga Mukama, n’atakyuka kuleka bibi bya Yerobowaamu mutabani wa Nebati bye yayonoonyesa Isirayiri.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and did not turn away from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit.
25 Awo omu ku baserikale be abakulu nga mukulu wa kibinja erinnya lye Peka mutabani wa Lemaliya, ne yeekobaana n’abasajja abalala amakumi ataano Abagireyaadi ne battira Pekakiya wamu ne Alugobu, ne Aliye mu kigo eky’omu lubiri e Samaliya. Peka n’atta Pekakiya, n’alya obwakabaka.
Then his officer, Pekah son of Remaliah, conspired against him along with Argob, Arieh, and fifty men of Gilead. And at the citadel of the king’s palace in Samaria, Pekah struck down and killed Pekahiah and reigned in his place.
26 Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Pekakiya, ne bye yakola byonna, byawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Isirayiri.
As for the rest of the acts of Pekahiah, along with all his accomplishments, they are indeed written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
27 Mu mwaka ogw’amakumi ataano mu ebiri ogw’obufuzi bwa Azaliya kabaka wa Yuda, Peka mutabani wa Lemaliya n’alya obwakabaka bwa Isirayiri mu Samaliya, era n’afugira emyaka amakumi abiri.
In the fifty-second year of Azariah’s reign over Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria twenty years.
28 Yakola ebibi bya Yerobowaamu mutabani wa Nebati bye yayonoonyesa Isirayiri.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and did not turn away from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit.
29 Mu biro bya Peka kabaka wa Isirayiri, Tigulasupireseri kabaka w’e Bwasuli n’alumba ebibuga: by’e Iyoni, n’e Aberubesumaaka, n’e Yanoa, n’e Kedesi, n’e Kazoli, n’e Gireyaadi n’e Ggaliraaya, n’ensi yonna eya Nafutaali, abantu baayo n’abatwala nga basibe e Bwasuli.
In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came and captured Ijon, Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, including all the land of Naphtali, and he took the people as captives to Assyria.
30 Awo Koseya mutabani wa Era n’asala olukwe okutta Peka mutabani wa Lemaliya, n’amulumba era n’amutta, n’alya obwakabaka mu mwaka ogw’amakumi abiri ogw’obwakabaka bwa Yosamu mutabani wa Uzziya.
Then Hoshea son of Elah led a conspiracy against Pekah son of Remaliah. In the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah, Hoshea attacked Pekah, killed him, and reigned in his place.
31 Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Peka, ne bye yakola byonna byawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Isirayiri.
As for the rest of the acts of Pekah, along with all his accomplishments, they are indeed written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
32 Mu mwaka ogwokubiri ogw’obufuzi bwa Peka mutabani wa Lemaliya, Yosamu mutabani wa Uzziya n’alya obwakabaka bwa Yuda.
In the second year of the reign of Pekah son of Remaliah over Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah became king of Judah.
33 Yali wa myaka amakumi abiri mu etaano we yatandikira okufuga, era n’afugira emyaka kkumi na mukaaga mu Yerusaalemi, ne nnyina erinnya lye nga ye Yerusa muwala wa Zadooki.
He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.
34 N’akola ebirungi mu maaso ga Mukama, nga kitaawe Uzziya bwe yakola.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done.
35 Naye ebifo ebigulumivu tebyaggibwawo, era abantu ne beeyongeranga okuweerangayo ssaddaaka n’okwoterezangako obubaane. Yaddaabiriza n’Omulyango ogw’ekyengulu ogwa yeekaalu ya Mukama.
Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away; the people continued sacrificing and burning incense there. Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the house of the LORD.
36 Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Yosamu, ne bye yakola byonna, tebyawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Yuda?
As for the rest of the acts of Jotham, along with his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
37 Mu biro ebyo Mukama n’atandika okusindikira Yuda abalabe nga Lezini kabaka w’e Busuuli ne Peka mutabani wa Lemaliya.
(In those days the LORD began to send Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.)
38 Yosamu n’afa, n’aziikibwa ku biggya bya bajjajjaabe mu kibuga kya Dawudi jjajjaawe, Akazi mutabani we n’amusikira okuba kabaka.
And Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David his father. And his son Ahaz reigned in his place.
