< 2 Ebyomumirembe 25 >
1 Amaziya yalina emyaka amakumi abiri mu etaano we yafuukira kabaka, era n’afugira emyaka amakumi abiri mu mwenda mu Yerusaalemi. Nnyina ye yali Yekoyadaani ow’e Yerusaalemi.
Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan; she was from Jerusalem.
2 N’akola ebirungi mu maaso ga Mukama, naye si na mutima ogutuukiridde.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not wholeheartedly.
3 Obwakabaka bwe bwanywezebwa mu buyinza bwe, n’atta abakungu abatta kabaka kitaawe.
As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, Amaziah executed the servants who had murdered his father the king.
4 Naye n’atatta baana baabwe, wabula n’akola ng’etteeka mu kitabo kya Musa, Mukama we yalagira nti, “Abazadde tebattibwenga olw’ekibi ky’abaana baabwe, so n’abaana tebattibwenga olw’ekibi ky’abazadde baabwe, naye buli muntu anaafanga olw’ekibi kye ye.”
Yet he did not put their sons to death, but acted according to what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children, and children must not be put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.”
5 Amaziya n’akuŋŋaanya abasajja ba Yuda, n’abategeka mu nnyiriri z’ennyumba zaabwe, nga baduumirwa ab’enkumi n’ab’ebikumi mu Yuda yonna ne mu Benyamini. N’oluvannyuma n’abala abo abaalina emyaka amakumi abiri n’okusingawo, ne baba abasajja emitwalo amakumi asatu, abaali basobola okugenda mu lutalo, era nga bayinza n’okukwata effumu n’ekitala.
Then Amaziah gathered the people of Judah and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and of hundreds. And he numbered those twenty years of age or older throughout Judah and Benjamin and found 300,000 chosen men able to serve in the army, bearing the spear and shield.
6 Ate era n’agulayo n’abasajja abalala ab’amaanyi nga bazira emitwalo kkumi okuva mu Isirayiri, olwa ttani ssatu ne bisatu byakuna ebya ffeeza.
He also hired 100,000 mighty warriors from Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
7 Naye ne wabaawo omusajja wa Katonda eyagenda gy’ali n’amugamba nti, “Ayi kabaka, tokkiriza eggye lya Isirayiri okugenda naawe, kubanga Mukama tali wamu ne Isirayiri, talina n’omu gwali naye ku bantu ba Efulayimu.
But a man of God came to him and said, “O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the Ephraimites.
8 Ate ne bw’onoogenda ng’olowooza nti oli muzira nnyo mu ntalo, Katonda alikuwaayo mu maaso g’omulabe, kubanga Katonda alina obuyinza okuyamba, n’okulekerera.”
Even if you go and fight bravely in battle, God will make you stumble before the enemy, for God has power to help and power to overthrow.”
9 Awo Amaziya n’abuuza omusajja wa Katonda nti, “Naye tunaakola tutya ku bya ttani esatu n’ebisatu byakuna ebya ffeeza ze nasasula eggye lya Isirayiri?” Omusajja wa Katonda n’addamu nti, “Mukama ayinziza ddala okukuwa n’ebisinga ku ebyo.”
Amaziah asked the man of God, “What should I do about the hundred talents I have given to the army of Israel?” And the man of God replied, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”
10 Awo Amaziya n’alagira eggye eryali lizze gy’ali okuva mu Efulayimu okuddayo ewaabwe waalyo. Ne banyiigira nnyo Yuda, era ne baddayo ewaabwe nga banyiize nnyo.
So Amaziah dismissed the troops who had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home. And they were furious with Judah and returned home in great anger.
11 Amaziya ne yeefungiza, n’akulembera abantu be, n’agenda mu kiwonvu eky’omunnyo n’atta abasajja omutwalo gumu ab’e Seyiri.
Amaziah, however, summoned his strength and led his troops to the Valley of Salt, where he struck down 10,000 men of Seir,
12 Eggye lya Yuda ne liwamba n’abasajja abalala omutwalo gumu nga balamu, ne babatwala waggulu ku lwazi, ne babasuula wansi okuva ku bbangabanga, ne basesebbuka ebifiififi.
and the army of Judah also captured 10,000 men alive. They took them to the top of a cliff and threw them down so that all were dashed to pieces.
13 Naye eggye liri Amaziya lye yasindika okuddayo, n’ataliganya kugenda naye mu lutalo; lyalumba ebibuga bya Yuda okuva e Samaliya okutuuka e Besukolooni, ne litta abantu enkumi ssatu ku bo, era ne litwala n’omunyago mungi.
Meanwhile the troops that Amaziah had dismissed from battle raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon. They struck down 3,000 people and carried off a great deal of plunder.
14 Awo Amaziya bwe yakomawo ng’amaze okutta Abayedomu, n’aleeta bakatonda b’abantu ab’e Seyiri, n’abassaawo nga bakatonda be, n’abasinzanga, era n’abaweerangayo ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa.
When Amaziah returned from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the Seirites, set them up as his own gods, bowed before them, and burned sacrifices to them.
15 Obusungu bwa Mukama kyebwava bubuubuukira ku Amaziya, n’amuweereza nnabbi, eyamutegeeza nti, “Lwaki ogoberera bakatonda b’abantu, abataayinza kulokola bantu baabwe mu mukono gwo?”
Therefore the anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet, who said, “Why have you sought this people’s gods, which could not deliver them from your hand?”
16 Naye bwe yali ng’akyayogera, kabaka n’amubuuza nti, “Twali tukulonze okuba omuwi wa magezi owa kabaka? Sirika! Lwaki onoonya okuttibwa?” Awo nnabbi nga tannasirika, n’ayogera kino nti, “Mmanyi nga Katonda amaliridde okukuzikiriza, kubanga tossizaayo mwoyo ku kubuulirira kwange.”
While he was still speaking, the king asked, “Have we made you the counselor to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but he said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”
17 Awo Amaziya kabaka wa Yuda ne yeebuuza ku bawi b’amagezi be, n’aweereza obubaka eri Yowaasi mutabani wa Yekoyakaazi, muzzukulu wa Yeeku, kabaka wa Isirayiri, ng’agamba nti, “Jjangu tusisinkane amaaso n’amaaso.”
Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel and sent word to the king of Israel Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu. “Come, let us meet face to face,” he said.
18 Naye Yowaasi kabaka wa Isirayiri n’addamu Amaziya kabaka wa Yuda bw’ati nti, “Omwennyango ogwali mu Lebanooni gw’aweereza obubaka eri omuvule ogwali mu Lebanooni, nga gugamba nti, ‘Waayo muwala wo eri mutabani wange, amufumbirwe,’ naye ensolo ey’omu nsiko eyali mu Lebanooni, ng’eyitawo, n’erinnyirira omwennyango.
But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: “A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son in marriage.’ Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle.
19 Weewaana nga bw’owangudde Edomu, era omutima gwo gujjudde okwegulumiza n’okwenyumiriza. Naye sigala ewuwo. Lwaki onoonya emitawaana, ne weeretera okugwa, ggwe ne Yuda?”
You have said, ‘Look, I have defeated Edom,’ and your heart has become proud and boastful. Now stay at home. Why should you stir up trouble so that you fall—you and Judah with you?”
20 Naye Amaziya n’atawuliriza, kubanga okuwangulwa abalabe baabwe kwava eri Katonda, kubanga bava ku Katonda waabwe ne banoonya bakatonda ba Edomu.
But Amaziah would not listen, for this had come from God in order to deliver them into the hand of Jehoash, because they had sought the gods of Edom.
21 Awo Yowaasi kabaka wa Isirayiri n’alumba, ye ne Amaziya kabaka wa Yuda ne basisinkana amaaso n’amaaso mu lutalo e Besusemesi ekya Yuda.
So Jehoash king of Israel advanced, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh in Judah.
22 Isirayiri n’awangula Yuda, buli muntu n’addukira ewuwe.
And Judah was routed before Israel, and every man fled to his own home.
23 Yowaasi kabaka wa Isirayiri n’awambira Amaziya kabaka wa Yuda mutabani wa Yowaasi, muzzukulu wa Yekoyakaazi e Besusemesi, n’amuleeta e Yerusaalemi. Yowaasi n’amenyaamenya n’ekitundu ekya bbugwe wa Yerusaalemi okuva ku mulyango gwa Efulayimu okutuuka ku Mulyango ogw’oku Nsonda, eyali mita kikumi mu kinaana obuwanvu.
There at Beth-shemesh, Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate—a section of four hundred cubits.
24 N’atwala ezaabu n’effeeza yonna, n’ebintu ebirala byonna ebyali mu yeekaalu ya Katonda ebyali bikuumibwa Obededomu, wamu n’eby’obugagga eby’omu lubiri, n’abawambe, n’addayo e Samaliya.
He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the house of God with Obed-edom and in the treasuries of the royal palace, as well as some hostages. Then he returned to Samaria.
Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.
26 Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Amaziya, okuva ku ntandikwa okutuuka ku nkomerero, tebyawandiikibwa mu kitabo kya bassekabaka ba Yuda ne Isirayiri?
As for the rest of the acts of Amaziah, from beginning to end, are they not written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel?
27 Okuva mu kiseera, Amaziya lwe yakyuka okuva ku Mukama, baamusalira olukwe mu Yerusaalemi, n’addukira e Lakisi. Kyokka ne bamusindikira abasajja abaamugoberera okutuuka e Lakisi, era ne bamuttira eyo.
From the time that Amaziah turned from following the LORD, a conspiracy was formed against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But men were sent after him to Lachish, and they killed him there.
28 Omulambo gwe ne baguleetera ku mbalaasi, n’aziikibwa mu masiro ga bajjajjaabe mu kibuga kya Yuda.
They carried him back on horses and buried him with his fathers in the City of Judah.
