< 1 Timoseewo 3 >

1 Ekigambo kyesigwa. Omuntu yenna bw’ayagalanga okuba Omulabirizi aba yeegombye omulimu omulungi.
This is a faithful saying: someone who seeks to be an overseer desires a good work.
2 Noolwekyo Omulabirizi kimugwanira okuba nga taliiko kya kunenyezebwa, nga musajja wa mukazi omu, nga muntu eyeefuga, nga mwegendereza, nga mukwata mpola, ayaniriza abagenyi, era ng’amanyi okuyigiriza.
The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching;
3 Tateekwa kuba mutamiivu, era nga si mukambwe, wabula omuwombeefu, nga si muyombi era nga talulunkanira nsimbi.
not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;
4 Ateekwa kuba ng’afuga bulungi amaka ge, abaana be nga bamuwulira, era nga bamussaamu ekitiibwa.
one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;
5 Kubanga omuntu atasobola kufuga maka ge, alisobola atya okulabirira ekkanisa ya Katonda?
(for how could someone who does not know how to rule his own house take care of God’s assembly?)
6 Omulabirizi tateekwa kuba muntu eyaakakkiriza Kristo, si kulwa nga yeekuluntaza, n’asalirwa omusango nga Setaani bwe yagusalirwa.
not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
7 Asaanira okuba ng’assibwamu ekitiibwa abo abatali ba Kkanisa, si kulwa nga yeereetako ekivume.
Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Abadiikoni nabo kibagwanira okuba abantu abassibwamu ekitiibwa abatataaganaaga mu bigambo byabwe, abatatamiira, era abatalulunkanira bintu,
Servants, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for money,
9 nga bakuuma ekyama ky’okukkiriza n’omutima omulongoofu.
holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 Basookanga kugezesebwa balyoke baweereze mu budiikooni nga tebaliiko kya kunenyezebwa.
Let them also first be tested; then let them serve if they are blameless.
11 N’abakazi Abadiikoni bwe batyo nabo kibagwanidde okubeeranga abassibwamu ekitiibwa, abatawaayiriza, abeegendereza, era abeesigwa mu buli kintu.
Their wives in the same way must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, and faithful in all things.
12 Omudiikoni ateekwa okuba n’omukazi omu yekka, era ng’asobola okufuga obulungi abaana be, n’amaka ge.
Let servants be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13 Kubanga abaweereza obulungi bafuna ekifo ekya waggulu era baba n’obuvumu bungi mu kukkiriza okuli mu Kristo.
For those who have served well gain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14 Nkuwandiikidde ebintu ebyo nga nsuubira okujja gy’oli mangu;
These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly,
15 kyokka bwe ndirwa omanye by’osaana okukola mu nnyumba ya Katonda, ye Ekkanisa ya Katonda omulamu, empagi n’omusingi eby’amazima.
but if I wait long, that you may know how men ought to behave themselves in God’s house, which is the assembly of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 Tewali kubuusabuusa ekyama ky’okutya Katonda kikulu ddala, era kigamba nti: “Yalabisibwa mu mubiri, n’akakasibwa Omwoyo nga bw’atuukiridde, n’alabibwa bamalayika, n’alangibwa mu mawanga, n’akkirizibwa mu nsi, era n’atwalibwa n’ekitiibwa mu ggulu.”
Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: God was revealed in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.
