1 Mu kiseera kyekimu Abafirisuuti baali balwana ne Isirayiri. Abasajja ba Isirayiri ne badduka Abafirisuuti, bangi ku bo ne battibwa ku Lusozi Girubowa.
And [the] Philistines [were] fighting against Israel and they fled [the] men of Israel from before [the] Philistines and they fell slain on [the] mountain of Gilboa.
2 Abafirisuuti ne banyiikira okugoberera Sawulo ne batabani be, era ne batta Yonasaani, ne Abinadaabu ne Malukisuwa.
And they pursued closely [the] Philistines Saul and sons his and they struck down [the] Philistines Jonathan and Abinadab and Malki-Shua [the] sons of Saul.
3 Olutalo Sawulo ne lumuba bubi, abalasi ab’obusaale ne bamuzingiza era ne bamuleetako ekiwundu kinene.
And it was heavy the battle against Saul and they found him the archers men with the bow and he was in severe pain exceedingly from the archers.
4 Awo Sawulo n’agamba eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye nti, “Sowola ekitala kyo onfumite, abatali bakomole abo baleme okunkwata ne bambonyaabonya n’okunswaza ne banswaza.” Naye eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye n’atya era n’agaana okukikola. Sawulo kyeyava asowola ekitala kye ne yetta.
And he said Saul to [the] bearer of armor his draw out sword your - and pierce through me with it lest they should come the uncircumcised [men] these and they will pierce through me and they will deal wantonly with me and not he was willing [the] bearer of armor his for he was afraid exceedingly and he took Saul the sword and he fell on it.
5 Awo eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye bwe yalaba nga Sawulo afudde, n’asowola ekitala kye naye ne yetta.
And he saw [the] bearer of armor his that he had died Saul and he fell also he on sword his and he died with him.
6 Sawulo bw’atyo, ne batabani be abasatu, n’eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye ne basajja be bonna ne bafa ku lunaku olwo lwe lumu.
And he died Saul and [the] three sons his and [the] bearer of armor his also all men his on the day that together.
7 Awo Abayisirayiri abaali emitala w’ekiwonvu n’abo abaali emitala wa Yoludaani bwe baalaba ng’eggye lya Isirayiri lidduse nga ne Sawulo ne batabani be abasatu bafudde, ne balekulira ebibuga byabwe ne badduka. Abafirisuuti ne bajja ne babibeeramu.
And they saw [the] men of Israel who [were] on [the] other side of the valley and who - [were] on [the] other side of the Jordan that they had fled [the] men of Israel and that they had died Saul and sons his and they abandoned the cities and they fled and they came [the] Philistines and they dwelt in them.
8 Enkeera, Abafirisuuti bwe baagenda okwambula emirambo, baasanga Sawulo ne batabani be abasatu bafiiridde ku lusozi Girubowa.
And it was from [the] next day and they came [the] Philistines to strip the [ones] slain and they found Saul and [the] three sons his fallen on [the] mountain of Gilboa.
9 Ne batemako omutwe gwe ne bamwambulamu ebyokulwanyisa bye, ne batuma ababaka mu nsi yonna ey’Abafirisuuti okulangirira mu ssabo lyabwe, n’eri abantu baabwe.
And they cut off head his and they stripped off armor his and they sent in [the] land of [the] Philistines all around to bear [the] news [the] house of idols their and the people.
10 Ne bateeka ebyokulwanyisa bye mu ssabo lya Baasutoleesi, n’ekiwudduwuddu kye ne bakiwanika ku bbugwe ow’e Besusani.
And they put armor his [the] house of Ashtaroth and corpse his they fixed on [the] wall of Beth Shan.
11 Naye abatuuze b’e Yabesugireyaadi bwe baawulira Abafirisuuti kye baali bakoze Sawulo,
And they heard concerning him [the] inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead [that] which they had done [the] Philistines to Saul.
12 abasajja abazira bonna ne bagolokoka, ne batambula ekiro kyonna ne bagenda e Besusani. Ne bawanulayo omulambo gwa Sawulo, n’egya batabani be ku bbugwe ow’e Besusani, ne bagitwala e Yabesi ne bagyokera eyo.
And they arose every man of strength and they went all the night and they took [the] corpse of Saul and [the] corpses of sons his from [the] wall of Beth Shan and they went Jabesh towards and they burned them there.
13 N’oluvannyuma ne baddira amagumba gaabwe ne bagaziika wansi w’omumyulimu e Yabesi, ne basiibira ennaku musanvu.
And they took bones their and they buried [them] under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh and they fasted seven days.
