< 1 Peetero 3 >
1 Abakazi abafumbo, mu ngeri y’emu muwulirenga babbammwe, bwe waba nga waliwo abatagondera kigambo kya Katonda, balyoke baleetebwe mu kukkiriza olw’empisa zammwe ennungi ne bwe muba nga temuliiko kye mubagambye.
In this way, you who are wives should submit to your own husbands. Do this so even if some men are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word, through their wives' behavior.
2 Kubanga bajja kulaba empisa zammwe ennungi nga mubassaamu ekitiibwa.
For they will have seen your sincere behavior with respect.
3 Okweyonja kwammwe kulemenga kuba kwa kungulu: nga mu misono gy’enviiri n’egy’amajjolobera ag’ebyo ebyambalwa mu bulago ne ku matu, n’egy’ebyambalo.
Let it be done not with outward ornaments such as braided hair, jewels of gold, or fashionable clothing.
4 Naye kube kwa mu mutima munda; okweyonja okutayonooneka okw’omwoyo omuwombeefu era omuteefu, era okwo kwe kw’omuwendo ennyo mu maaso ga Katonda.
Instead, let it be done with the inner person of the heart, and the lasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious before God.
5 Kubanga n’abakazi ab’edda abatukuvu abaasuubiriranga mu Katonda, bwe batyo bwe beeyonjanga era nga bawulize eri ba bbaabwe.
For this is how holy women long ago who hoped in God adorned themselves, by submitting to their husbands.
6 Saala bw’atyo bwe yali; yawuliranga nnyo Ibulayimu, ng’amussaamu ekitiibwa ng’amuyita mukama we. Kale obanga mwagala okuba bawala ba Saala, mubenga ba mpisa nnungi, olwo tewaabengawo kibatiisa kyonna.
In this way Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are now her children if you do what is good and if you are not afraid of trouble.
7 Nammwe abasajja abafumbo, mutegeere nga bakazi bammwe banafu, noolwekyo mubakwatenga n’obwegendereza. Era mubassengamu ekitiibwa nga mumanyi nga nabo Katonda alibaweera wamu nammwe, obulamu obutaggwaawo. Bwe munaakolanga bwe mutyo okusaba kwammwe tekuziyizibwenga.
In the same way, you husbands should live with your wives according to understanding, as with a weaker container, a woman. You should give them honor as fellow heirs of the grace of life. Do this so that your prayers will not be hindered.
8 Eky’enkomerero, mwenna mubenga n’emmeeme emu, buli omu alumirirwenga munne, era mwagalanenga ng’abooluganda ddala, mubenga ba kisa era beetoowaze.
Finally, all of you, be likeminded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, and humble.
9 Temuwooleranga ggwanga. Abavumye, mmwe temumuvumanga. Wabula mumusabirenga mukisa, kubanga ekyo kye mwayitirwa, mulyoke muweebwe omukisa.
Do not pay back evil for evil or insult for insult. On the contrary, continue to bless, because for this you were called, that you might inherit a blessing.
10 Kubanga ekyawandiikibwa kigamba nti, “Ayagala okufuna obulamu n’okubeera mu ddembe, aziyizenga olulimi lwe okwogera ekibi, n’emimwa gye okwogera ebyobukuusa.
“The one who wants to love life and see good days should stop his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Era yeewalenga okukola ebibi, akolenga ebirungi. Anoonyenga emirembe era atambulirenga mu gyo.
Let him turn away from what is bad and do what is good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 Kubanga abatuukirivu Mukama abatunuulira n’ekisa, n’amatu ge gawuliriza bye basaba. Kyokka aboonoonyi abatunuuliza bukambwe.”
The eyes of the Lord see the righteous, and his ears hear their requests. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
13 Bwe munaafubanga okukola ekituufu, ani anaabakolanga akabi?
Who is the one who will harm you if you are eager to do what is good?
14 Naye era ne bwe munaabonyaabonyezebwanga olw’obutuukirivu, mulina omukisa. “Temutya bye batya; temutekemuka.”
But if you suffer because of righteousness, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear. Do not be troubled.
15 Mutyenga Mukama waffe Kristo mu mitima gyammwe. Era bulijjo mubenga beetegefu okuddamu buli ababuuza okunnyonnyola essuubi lyammwe,
Instead, set apart the Lord Christ in your hearts as holy. Always be ready to answer everyone who asks you why you have confidence in God. Do this with meekness and respect.
16 era muddengamu n’obuwombeefu, awamu n’eggonjebwa. Mubenga ba mutima mulungi, abo ababavuma era ababoogerako ekibi olw’empisa zammwe ennungi olw’okuba nga muli ba Kristo, balyoke baswale.
Have a good conscience so that the people who insult your good life in Christ may be ashamed because they are speaking against you as if you were evildoers.
17 Okubonyaabonyezebwanga olw’okukola obulungi, bwe kuba nga kwe kusiima kwa Katonda, kusinga okubonyaabonyezebwa olw’okukola ekibi.
It is better, if God desires, that you suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
18 Kubanga ddala Kristo yabonyaabonyezebwa olw’ebibi omulundi gumu, Omuntu Omutuukirivu ku lw’abatali batuukirivu, alyoke abaleete eri Katonda bwe yattibwa mu mubiri, kyokka n’abeera mulamu mu mwoyo.
Christ also suffered once for sins. He who is righteous suffered for us, who were unrighteous, so that he would bring us to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but he was made alive by the Spirit.
19 Era omwoyo gwe, gwe gwagenda okubuulira Enjiri emyoyo egyali mu kkomera.
By the Spirit, he went and preached to the spirits who are now in prison.
20 Egyo gy’emyoyo egy’abo edda abaagaana okuwulira Katonda ng’akyabagumiikiriza, mu kiseera Nuuwa kye yazimbiramu eryato, abantu abatono, omunaana gwokka, mwe baawonyezebwa amazzi.
They were disobedient when the patience of God was waiting in the days of Noah, in the days of the building of an ark, and God saved a few people—eight souls—by means of the water.
21 Amazzi ago gaali kabonero ak’okubatizibwa mulyoke mulokolebwe kaakano. Kubanga okubatizibwa tekitegeeza kunaazibwako kko lya mubiri, wabula kitegeeza kwewaayo eri Katonda nga tumaliridde okukola by’ayagala, ng’atuwadde omutima omulongoofu olw’okuzuukira kwa Yesu Kristo,
This is a symbol of the baptism that saves you now—not as a washing away of dirt from the body, but as the appeal of a good conscience to God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
22 eyalinnya mu ggulu era atudde ku mukono ogwa ddyo ogwa Katonda, ng’afuga bamalayika n’aboobuyinza, n’abaamaanyi ab’omu ggulu.
Christ is at the right hand of God. He went into heaven. Angels, authorities, and powers must submit to him.
