< 1 Bassekabaka 15 >
1 Awo mu mwaka ogw’ekkumi n’omunaana ogw’obufuzi bwa Yerobowaamu mutabani wa Nebati, Abiyaamu n’atandika okufuga Yuda.
Then, in the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, Abijam reigned over Judah.
2 Yafugira mu Yerusaalemi emyaka esatu. Nnyina ye yali Maaka muwala wa Abusaalomu.
He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Maacah, the daughter of Abishalom.
3 N’akola ebibi byonna kitaawe bye yakolanga, omutima gwe ne gutatuukirira mu maaso ga Mukama Katonda we ng’omutima gwa jjajjaawe Dawudi bwe gwali.
And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him. Neither was his heart perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David, his father.
4 Naye ku lwa Dawudi, Mukama Katonda we n’amuteerawo ettabaaza mu Yerusaalemi era n’ayimusa ne mutabani we okumusikira, era n’okunyweza Yerusaalemi.
But for the sake of David, the Lord his God gave to him a lamp in Jerusalem, so that he might raise up his son after him, and so that he might establish Jerusalem.
5 Dawudi yakola ebirungi mu maaso ga Mukama, n’agondera ebiragiro bya Mukama ennaku zonna ez’obulamu bwe, okuggyako ensonga ya Uliya Omukiiti.
For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and he had not declined from all of the things that he had instructed to him, during all the days of his life, except the matter of Uriah, the Hittite.
6 Ne wabangawo entalo wakati w’ennyumba ya Lekobowaamu n’ennyumba ya Yerobowaamu ennaku zonna ez’obulamu bwa Abiyaamu.
Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam during the entire time of his life.
7 N’ebyafaayo ebirala byonna eby’okufuga kwa Abiyaamu, ne bye yakola, tebyawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Yuda? Ne wabangawo entalo wakati wa Abiyaamu ne Yerobowaamu.
And the rest of the words of Abijam, and all that he did, were these not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah? And there was fighting between Abijam and Jeroboam.
8 Awo Abiyaamu ne yeebakira wamu ne bajjajjaabe era n’aziikibwa mu kibuga kya Dawudi. Asa mutabani we n’amusikira, n’alya obwakabaka.
And Abijam slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa, his son, reigned in his place.
9 Awo mu mwaka ogw’amakumi abiri ogw’obufuzi bwa Yerobowaamu kabaka wa Isirayiri, Asa n’alya obwakabaka bwa Yuda.
Then, in the twentieth year of Jeroboam, the king of Israel, Asa reigned as king of Judah.
10 Yafugira mu Yerusaalemi emyaka amakumi ana mu gumu. Jjajjaawe omukazi nga ye Maaka muwala wa Abusaalomu.
And he reigned for forty-one years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Maacah, the daughter of Abishalom.
11 Asa n’akola ebirungi mu maaso ga Mukama, nga jjajjaawe Dawudi bwe yakola.
And Asa did what was right before the sight of the Lord, just as his father David did.
12 N’agoba mu nsi abaalyanga ebisiyaga, era n’aggyawo n’ebifaananyi ebyakolebwa n’emikono byonna bajjajjaabe bye baakola.
And he took away the effeminate from the land. And he purged all the filth of the idols, which his fathers had made.
13 Era n’agoba ne jjajjaawe Maaka ku bwa namasole kubanga yali akoze empagi ya Asera. Asa n’agitema era n’agyokera ku kagga Kidulooni.
Moreover, he also removed his mother, Maacah, from being the leader in the sacrifices of Priapus, and in his sacred grove which she had consecrated. And he destroyed his grotto. And he shattered the very indecent idol, and he burned it at the torrent Kidron.
14 Newaakubadde nga teyaggyawo bifo bigulumivu, omutima gwe gwali ku Mukama ennaku ze zonna.
But the high places, he did not take away. Yet truly, the heart of Asa was perfect with the Lord during all his days.
15 N’ayingiza mu yeekaalu ya Mukama effeeza, ne zaabu n’ebintu ebirala kitaawe bye yawaayo ne Asa yennyini bye yawaayo.
And he brought the things that his father had sanctified and vowed back to the house of the Lord: the silver, and the gold, and the vessels.
16 Ne wabangawo entalo wakati wa Asa ne Baasa kabaka wa Isirayiri ennaku zonna ez’okufuga kwabwe.
Now there was war between Asa and Baasha, the king of Israel, during all their days.
17 Baasa kabaka wa Isirayiri n’alumba Yuda n’azingiza Laama obutaganya muntu n’omu okufuluma wadde okuyingira mu kitundu kya Asa kabaka wa Yuda.
And Baasha, the king of Israel, ascended against Judah. And he built up Ramah, so that no one would be able to exit or enter from the side of Asa, the king of Judah.
18 Awo Asa n’addira effeeza ne zaabu yonna eyali esigadde mu ggwanika lya yeekaalu ya Mukama n’ey’olubiri lwe, n’abikwasa abakungu be, n’abiweereza Benikadadi mutabani wa Tabulimmoni, muzzukulu wa Keziyoni, eyali kabaka wa Busuuli ng’afugira e Ddamasiko.
And so, Asa took all the silver and the gold which had remained in the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and in the treasuries of the house of the king, and he gave it into the hands of his servants. And he sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, the king of Syria, who was living in Damascus, saying:
19 N’ayogera nti, “Wabeewo endagaano wakati wo nange, ng’eyaliwo wakati wa kitaawo ne kitange. Laba nkuweereza ekirabo ekya ffeeza ne zaabu, omenyewo kaakano endagaano yo ne Baasa kabaka wa Isirayiri, anveeko.”
“There is a pact between me and you, and between my father and your father. For this reason, I have sent to you gifts of silver and of gold. And I ask you to go and break your pact with Baasha, the king of Israel, so that he may withdraw from me.”
20 Benikadadi n’akkiriziganya ne kabaka Asa era n’aweereza abaduumizi b’eggye lye okulumba ebibuga bya Isirayiri. N’akuba Iyoni, ne Ddaani, ne Aberubesumaaka ne Kinnerosi yonna ng’okwo kw’otadde Nafutaali.
Benhadad, acquiescing to king Asa, sent the leaders of his army against the cities of Israel. And they struck Ijon, and Dan, and Abel, the house of Maacah, and all of Chinneroth, that is, all the land of Naphtali.
21 Awo Baasa bwe yakiwulira n’alekeraawo okuzimba Laama, n’addukira e Tiruza.
And when Baasha had heard this, he ceased from fortifying Ramah, and he returned to Tirzah.
22 Kabaka Asa n’awa ekiragiro mu Yuda yonna nga kikwata ku buli muntu. Ne batwala amayinja ag’e Laama n’embaawo Baasa bye yazimbisanga, kabaka Asa n’abizimbisa Geba ekya Benyamini, ne Mizupa.
Then king Asa sent an announcement to all of Judah, saying, “Let no one be excused.” And they took away the stones from Ramah, and its timber, with which Baasha had fortified it. And from these things, king Asa built up Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.
23 Ebyafaayo ebirala byonna eby’omu mirembe gya Asa, n’obuwanguzi bwe era n’ebibuga bye yazimba, tebyawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Yuda? Kyokka mu bukadde bwe, n’alwala ebigere.
Now all the rest of the words of Asa, and his entire strength, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, were these not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah? Yet truly, in the time of his old age, he was afflicted in his feet.
24 Awo Asa ne yeebakira wamu ne bajjajjaabe n’aziikibwa mu kibuga kya jjajjaawe Dawudi. Yekosafaati, mutabani we n’amusikira, n’alya obwakabaka.
And he slept with his fathers, and he was buried with them in the city of David, his father. And Jehoshaphat, his son, reigned in his place.
25 Nadabu mutabani wa Yerobowaamu n’alya obwakabaka bwa Isirayiri mu mwaka ogwokubiri ogw’obufuzi bwa Asa kabaka wa Yuda. Yafugira Isirayiri emyaka ebiri.
Yet truly, Nadab, the son of Jeroboam, reigned over Israel, in the second year of Asa, the king of Judah. And he reigned over Israel for two years.
26 N’akola ebibi mu maaso ga Mukama, ng’atambulira mu ngeri za kitaawe ne mu kibi kye, ebyaleetera Isirayiri okwonoona.
And he did what is evil in the sight of the Lord. And he walked in the ways of his father and in his sins, by which he caused Israel to sin.
27 Awo Baasa mutabani wa Akiya ow’omu nnyumba ya Isakaali n’amukolera olukwe, n’amuttira e Gibbesoni ekibuga ky’Abafirisuuti, Nadabu ne Isirayiri yenna bwe baali bakitaayizza.
Then Baasha, the son of Ahijah, from the house of Issachar, set an ambush against him, and he struck him down at Gibbethon, which is a city of the Philistines. For indeed, Nadab and all of Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
28 Baasa n’atta Nadabu mu mwaka ogwokusatu ogw’obufuzi bwa Asa kabaka wa Yuda, ye n’alya obwakabaka bwa Isirayiri.
And so Baasha killed him in the third year of Asa, the king of Judah, and he reigned in his place.
29 Amangwago nga kyajje alye obwakabaka, n’atta ennyumba ya Yerobowaamu yonna n’atalekaawo muntu n’omu omulamu. Yabazikiriza bonna ng’ekigambo kya Mukama kye yayogerera mu muddu we Akiya Omusiiro,
And when he had reigned, he struck down the entire house of Jeroboam. He did not leave behind even one soul from his offspring, until he had wiped him away, in accord with the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by the hand of Ahijah, the Shilonite,
30 olw’ebibi bya Yerobowaamu bye yakola, era bye yayonoonyesa Isirayiri, n’okusunguwaza ne bisunguwaza Mukama Katonda wa Isirayiri.
because of the sin of Jeroboam, which he had committed, and by which he had caused Israel to sin, and because of the offense by which he had provoked the Lord, the God of Israel.
31 Ebyafaayo ebirala eby’omu mirembe gya Nadabu, ne bye yakola, tebyawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Isirayiri?
But the rest of the words of Nadab, and all that he did, were these not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?
32 Ne wabangawo entalo wakati wa Asa ne Baasa kabaka wa Isirayiri, ennaku zonna ez’okufuga kwabwe.
And there was war between Asa and Baasha, the king of Israel, during all their days.
33 Awo mu mwaka ogwokusatu ogw’obufuzi bwa Asa kabaka wa Yuda, Baasa mutabani wa Akiya n’afuuka kabaka wa Isirayiri yonna e Tiruza, era n’afugira emyaka amakumi abiri mu ena.
In the third year of Asa, the king of Judah, Baasha, the son of Ahijah, reigned over all of Israel, at Tirzah, for twenty-four years.
34 N’akola ebibi mu maaso ga Mukama, ng’atambulira mu ngeri za Yerobowaamu, ne mu kibi kye, kye yayonoonyesa Isirayiri.
And he did evil in the sight of the Lord. And he walked in the ways of Jeroboam, and in his sins, by which he caused Israel to sin.
