1 Bazzukulu ba Yuda abalala baali Pereezi, ne Kezulooni, ne Kalumi, ne Kuuli ne Sobali.

the sons of Judah, Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

2 Leyaya mutabani wa Sobali n’azaala Yakasi, ne Yakasi n’azaala Akumayi ne Lakadi. Bano baali ba mu nnyumba ya Abazolasi.

And, Reaiah son of Shobal, begat Jahath, and, Jahath, begat Ahumai, and Lahad. These, are the families of the Zorathites.

3 Ne bano, be baali baganda ba Etamu, ne Yezuleeri, ne Isuma, ne Idubasi, ne mwannyinaabwe nga ye Kazzereruponi.

And, these, were the sons of Etam, Jezreel and Ishma, and Idbash, —and, the name of their sister, was Hazzelelponi;

4 Penueri n’azaala Gedoli, ne Ezeri n’azaala Kusa. Bano be baali abazzukulu ba Kuuli, ng’omuzzukulu omukulu mu luggya ye Efulaasa, omukulembeze wa Besirekemu.

and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer, the father of Hushah. These, are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.

5 Asukuli n’azaala Tekowa eyalina abakyala babiri omu nga ye Keera omulala nga ye Naala.

And, Ashhur the father of Tekoa, had two wives, —Helah, and Naarah.

6 Naala n’amuzaalira Akuzzamu, ne Keferi, ne Temeni ne Kaakusutali; era abo be baali abaana ba Naala.

And Naarah bare him Ahuzzam and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These, were the sons of Naarah.

7 Keera n’amuzaalira Zeresi, ne Izukali, ne Esumani

And, the sons of Helah, were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.

8 ne Kakkozi eyali kitaawe wa Anubu, ne Zobeba, ate n’aba jjajja w’ennyumba ya Akalukeri mutabani wa Kalumu.

And, Koz, begat Anub, and Zobebah, —and the families of Aharhel, the son of Harum.

9 Yabezi yali wa kitiibwa okusinga baganda be, ne nnyina n’amutuuma erinnya Yabezi amakulu nti, “Namuzaalira mu bulumi.”

Now it came to pass that Jabez was more honourable than his brethren, —but, his mother, had called his name Jabez, ["he causes pain"] saying, Because I bare him with pain.

10 Yabezi n’akoowoola Katonda wa Isirayiri ng’agamba nti, “Ompeere ddala omukisa, ogaziye ensalo yange! Omukono gwo gubeere wamu nange, gunkuume obutagwa mu kabi konna, nneme okulumwa mu mutima.” Katonda n’addamu okusaba kwe.

So then Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldst, indeed bless, me, and enlarge my boundary, and that thy hand might be with me, —and that thou wouldst work [to deliver me] from evil, that it be not my pain. And God brought about that which he asked.

11 Kerubu muganda wa Suwa, n’azaala Mekiri, ate nga kitaawe wa Esutoni.

And, Chelub the brother of Shuhah, begat Mehir, the same, was the father of Eshton.

12 Esutoni n’azaala Besulafa, ne Paseya, ne Tekina eyali omukulembeze wa Irunakasi. Bano be basajja ab’e Leka.

And, Eshton, begat Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of Ir-nahash. These, are the men of Recah.

13 Batabani ba Kenazi baali Osuniyeri ne Seraya. Batabani ba Osuniyeri baali Kasasi ne Myonosaayi.

And, the sons of Kenaz, were Othniel, and Seraiah, —and, the sons of Othniel, Hathath.

14 Myonosaayi n’azaala Ofula. Ate Seraya n’azaala Yowaabu, ne Yowaabu ye yali jjajja wa Gekalasimu abaalinga abaweesi.

And, Meonothai, begat Ophrah, —and, Seraiah, begat Joab, the father of Ge-harashim, for they were, craftsmen.

15 Batabani ba Kolebu mutabani wa Yefune baali Iru, ne Era ne Naamu. Ne Era n’azaala Kenazi.

And, the sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh, were Iru, Elah, and Naam, —and the sons of Elah and Kenaz.

16 Batabani ba Yekalereri baali Zifu, ne Zifa, ne Tiriya ne Asaleri.

And, the sons of Jehallelel, Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

17 Batabani ba Ezula baali Yeseri, ne Meredi, ne Eferi, ne Yaloni. Omu ku bakyala ba Meredi ye yali Bisiya muwala wa Falaawo, era n’amuzaalira Miryamu, ne Sammayi, ne Isuba eyazaala Esutemoa.

And, the sons of Ezrah, Jether and Mered, and Epher and Jalon. And, these, are the sons of Bithia, daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took, —and she conceived and bare Miriam and Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa.

18 Abo be baana ba muwala wa Falaawo Bisiya, Meredi gwe yali awasizza. Omukyala we Omuyudaaya yamuzaalira Yeredi kitaawe wa Gedoli, ne Keberi kitaawe wa Soko, ne Yekusyeri kitaawe wa Zanona.

And, his wife, the Jewess, bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel, the father of Zanoah.

19 Kodiya n’azaala abaana mu mwannyina wa Nakamu era be baali ekika kya Keyira Omugalumi ne Esutemoa Omumaakasi.

And, the sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah, the Garmite, —and Eshtemoa, the Maacathite.

20 Batabani ba Simoni baali Amunoni, ne Linna, ne Benikanani, ne Tironi. N’ab’ennyumba ya Isi baali Zokesi ne Benizokesi.

And, the sons of Shimon, Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-hanan and Tilon. And, the sons of Ishi, Zoheth, and Ben-zoheth.

21 Batabani ba Seera mutabani wa Yuda baali Eri eyazaala Leka, kitaawe wa Malesa, ate era jjajja w’ebika by’abo abaalukanga linena e Besiyasubeya,

the sons of Shelah, the son of Judah, Er, the father of Lecah, and Laadah, the father of Mareshah, —and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;

22 Yokimu ye yali jjajja w’abasajja ab’e Kozeba, ne Yowaasi ne Salafu abaafuganga Mowaabu ne Yasubirekemu. (Ebigambo bino bya mu biseera bya dda).

and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph who ruled for Moab, and Jashubi-lehem, —but, the records, are ancient.

23 Abo be baali ababumbi b’ensuwa abaabeeranga e Netayimu n’e Gedera, era baabeeranga mu lubiri lwa kabaka nga bamukolera.

They, were the potters and the inhabitants of Netaim, and Gederah, —with the king in his work, dwelt they there.

24 Batabani ba Simyoni baali Nemweri, ne Yanini, ne Yalibu, ne Zeera ne Sawuli.

The sons of Simeon, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul:

25 Mutabani wa Sawuli yali Sallumu, ne bazzukulu be nga be Mibusamu ne Misuma.

Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

26 Mutabani wa Misuma yali Kammweri, eyazaala Zakkuli, nga ate jjajja wa Simeeyi.

And, the sons of Mishma, Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.

27 Simeeyi yalina abaana aboobulenzi kumi na mukaaga n’aboobuwala mukaaga, naye baganda be tebalina baana bangi, ekika kyabwe kyekyava tekyala nnyo ng’ekya Yuda.

And, Shimei, had sixteen sons, and six daughters, but, his brethren, had not many children, —nor did, any of their family, multiply so much as the sons of Judah.

28 Babeeranga mu Beeruseba, ne Molada, ne Kazalusuwali,

And they dwelt in Beer-sheba, and Moladah, and Hazar-shual;

29 ne Biruka, ne Ezemu, ne Toladi,

and in Bilhah, and in Ezem, and in Tolad;

30 ne Besweri, ne Koluma, ne Zikulagi,

and in Bethuel, and in Hormah, and in Ziklag;

31 ne Besumalukabosi, ne Kozalususimu, ne Besubiri ne Saalayimu. Bino byali bibuga byabwe okutuusa Dawudi lwe yalya obwakabaka.

and in Beth-marcaboth, and in Hazar-susim, and in Beth-biri, and in Shaaraim. These, were their cities unto the reign of David.

And, their villages, were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, —five cities;

33 n’ebyalo ebirala byonna ebyali byetoolodde ebibuga ebyo okutuukira ddala e Baali. Eyo gye baasenga era ne bakuuma ebyafaayo by’obujjajjabwe.

and all their villages that were round about these cities, as far as Baal. These, were their habitations, and they had their own genealogical register.

34 Mesobabu, ne Yamulaki, ne Yosa mutabani wa Amonya;

And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah, the son of Amaziah;

35 ne Yoweeri, ne Yeeku mutabani wa Yosibiya, muzzukulu wa Seraya, muzzukulu wa Asyeri.

and Joel, —and Jehu, the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel:

36 Eriwenayi, ne Yaakoba, ne Yesokaya, ne Asaya, ne Adyeri, ne Yesimyeri, ne Benaya,

and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah:

37 ne Ziza mutabani wa Sifi muzzukulu wa Alooni, muzzukulu wa Yedaya, muzzukulu wa Simuli, muzzukulu wa Semaaya.

and Ziza, son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah.

38 Abo aboogeddwako baali bakulu ba bika byabwe. Ennyumba zaabwe ne zeeyongera nnyo.

These, introduced by their names, were leading men in their families. And, their ancestral house, brake forth exceedingly;

39 Be basenguka okwolekera omulyango gwa Gedoli ekiri ku luuyi olw’ebuvanjuba lw’ekiwonvu, nga banoonya aw’okulundira ebisibo byabwe.

so they went to the entering in of Gerar, unto the east of the valley, —to seek pasture for their flocks;

40 Baalaba omuddo omugimu omulungi, n’ensi yali ngazi, ng’erimu emirembe era nga nteefu. Bazzukulu ba Kaamu be baaberangamu edda.

and they found pasture, fat and good, and, the land, was broad on both hands, and quiet, and secure, —for, of Ham, were the dwellers there aforetime.

41 Abasajja abo aboogeddwako baaliwo mu mirembe gya Keezeekiya kabaka wa Yuda, era baalumba eweema za bazzukulu ba Kaamu n’Abamewuni abaabeeranga omwo ne babazikiririza ddala, obutalekaawo muntu n’omu wadde ekintu kyonna. Ne babeeranga omwo kubanga waaliyo omuddo ogw’okuwa ebisibo byabwe.

But these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the Meunim who were found there, and devoted them, until this day, and dwelt in their stead, —for there was pasture for their flocks, there.

and they smote the remainder that had escaped, of the Amalekites, —and dwelt there—[as they have] unto this day.
