1 Awo Dawudi bwe yawangaala ennyo n’akaddiwa emyaka mingi n’afuula Sulemaani mutabani we okuba kabaka wa Isirayiri.
And when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2 Era yakuŋŋaanya abakulembeze ba Isirayiri bonna, wamu ne bakabona n’Abaleevi.
And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
3 Abaleevi abaali baweza emyaka amakumi asatu n’okusingawo baabalibwa, n’omuwendo gw’abasajja bonna gwali emitwalo esatu mu kanaana.
And then were numbered the Levites from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, of men, was thirty and eight thousand.
4 Awo Dawudi n’agamba nti, “Ku abo emitwalo ebiri mu enkumi nnya be banaalabiriranga omulimu ogwa yeekaalu ya Mukama, ate kakaaga banaabanga bakungu n’abalamuzi.
Of these were twenty and four thousand to superintend the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges;
5 Enkumi nnya banaabanga baggazi, ate enkumi ennya abasigaddewo be banatenderezanga Mukama n’ebivuga bye nateekateeka ku lw’okutendereza.”
And four thousand were gatekeepers: and four thousand those who praised the Lord with the instruments which I have made, to praise therewith.
6 Awo Dawudi n’agabanyamu Abaleevi mu bibinja ng’abaana ba Leevi bwe baali: Gerusoni, ne Kokasi ne Merali.
And David divided them into divisions after the sons of Levi, after Gershon, Kehath, and Merari.
7 Abaana ba Gerusoni baali Ladani ne Simeeyi.
Of the Gershunites: La'dan, and Shim'i.
8 Batabani ba Ladani baali Yekyeri omukulu, ne Zesamu, ne Yoweeri, basatu bonna awamu.
The sons of La'dan: The chief was Jechiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
9 Batabani ba Simeeyi baali Seromisi, ne Kasiyeri, ne Kalani, basatu bonna awamu, era be baali abakulu b’ennyumba ya Ladani.
The sons of Shim'i: Shelomith, and Chaziel, and Haran, three. These were the chiefs of the families of La'dan.
10 Batabani ba Simeeyi omulala Yakasi, ne Zina, ne Yewusi ne Beriya, be bana bonna awamu.
And the sons of Shim'i were, Jachath, Zina, and Je'ush, and Beri'ah. These four were the sons of Shim'i.
11 Yakasi ye yali omukulu, ne Ziza ye yali owookubiri, naye Yewusi be Beriya tebaalina baana noolwekyo baabalibwa ng’ekika kimu era nga bakola omulimu gwe gumu.
And Jachath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Je'ush and Beri'ah had not many sons: therefore were they accounted as one family division in the numbering.
12 Batabani ba Kokasi baali Amulaamu, ne Izukali, ne Kebbulooni ne Wuziyeeri, be bana.
The sons of Kehath: 'Amram, Yizhar, Hebron, and 'Uzziel, four.
13 Batabani ba Amulaamu baali Alooni ne Musa. Alooni yayawulibwa, ye n’abazzukulu be emirembe gyonna, atukuzenga ebintu ebitukuvu ennyo, okuwangayo ssaddaaka eri Mukama, n’okumuweerezanga, era n’okusabanga omukisa mu linnya lye emirembe gyonna.
The sons of 'Amram, Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was set apart, to sanctify him as most holy, he with his sons for ever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.
14 Batabani ba Musa omusajja wa Katonda babalibwa nga ba mu kika kya Leevi.
But as regardeth Moses the man of God, his sons were named after the tribe of Levi.
15 Batabani ba Musa baali Gerusomu ne Eryeza.
The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eli'ezer.
16 Mu bazzukulu ba Gerusomu, Sebweri ye yali omukulu.
Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.
17 Mu bazzukulu ba Eryeza, Lekabiya ye yali omukulu. Eryeza teyalina baana balala, naye batabani ba Lekabiya baali bangi ddala.
And the sons of Eli'ezer were, Rechahyah the chief. And Eli'ezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rechahyah became exceedingly numerous.
18 Mu batabani ba Izukali, Seromisi ye yali omukulu.
Of the sons of Yizhar, was Shelomith the chief.
19 Mu batabani ba Kebbulooni, Yeriya omukulu, Amaliya nga wakubiri, Yakaziyeri nga wakusatu, ne Yekameyamu nga ye wookuna.
The sons of Hebron: Jeriyahu the chief, Amaryah the second, Jachaziel the third, and Jekam'am the fourth.
20 Mu batabani ba Wuziyeeri, Mikka ye yali omukulu, ne Issiya nga ye wookubiri.
The sons of 'Uzziel: Michah the chief, and Yishiyah the second.
21 Batabani ba Merali baali Makuli ne Musi. Batabani ba Makuli baali Eriyazaali ne Kiisi.
The sons of Merari: Machli, and Mushi. The sons of Machli: El'azar, and Kish.
22 Eriyazaali n’afa nga tazadde baana babulenzi wabula aboobuwala bokka. Baganda baabwe, batabani ba Kiisi be babawassa.
And El'azar died, and had no sons, but daughters; and the sons of Kish, their brethren, took them [for wives].
23 Batabani ba Musi baali Makuli, Ederi ne Yeremosi be basatu.
The sons of Mushi: Machli, and 'Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24 Abo be baali abazzukulu ba Leevi mu bika byabwe, ng’emitwe gy’ennyumba bwe gyali giwandiikibbwa mu mannya gaabwe, era nga bwe baabalibwa buli kinoomu, be bakozi abaalina emyaka amakumi abiri n’okusingawo abaaweerezanga mu yeekaalu ya Mukama.
These were the sons of Levi after their family divisions, even the chiefs of the families, as they were counted by numbering the names after their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from twenty years old and upward.
25 Dawudi yali agambye nti, “Olw’okuba Mukama Katonda wa Isirayiri, awadde abantu be emirembe, era abeera mu Yerusaalemi emirembe gyonna,
For David said, The Lord the God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, and he dwelleth in Jerusalem for evermore.
26 Abaleevi tekikyabagwaniranga kusitula eweema oba ebintu ebikozesebwa mu kuweereza.”
And also the Levites are no more bound to carry the tabernacle, and all its vessels for the service thereof.
27 Nga bagoberera ebigambo bya Dawudi ebyasembayo, Abaleevi abaabalibwa baali ba myaka amakumi abiri n’okusingawo.
Therefore by the last words of David were there numbered of the Levites those who were from twenty years old and above;
28 Omulimu gwabwe gwali gwa kuyambanga bazzukulu ba Alooni mu buweereza obwa yeekaalu ya Mukama, nga bavunaanyizibwa mu mpya ne mu bisenge, ne mu kutukuzanga ebintu byonna ebitukuvu, n’okukola emirimu emirala mu nnyumba ya Katonda.
Because their station was to be at the side of the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and by the purification of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
29 Baavunaanyizibwanga emigaati egy’okulaga ku mmeeza, n’obutta obulungi obw’ekiweebwayo eky’obutta, n’obugaati obutazimbulukusibbwa, n’okufumba, n’okutabula, olw’ebiweebwayo, n’ebigero byonna mu bungi bwabyo ne mu bunene bwabyo.
And for the shew-bread, which was put in rows, and for the fine flour for meat-offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is sodden, and for all manner of dry and wet measure;
30 Be baayimiriranga okwebazanga n’okutenderezanga Mukama buli nkya na buli akawungeezi,
And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and so also at evening,
31 ne mu kuwaayo ebiweebwayo ebyokebwa, ebyaweebwangayo ku ssabbiiti, n’emyezi nga kye gijje giboneke, ne ku mbaga ezaateekebwawo. Kyabagwaniranga okuweerezanga mu maaso ga Mukama obutayosa, mu mpalo zaabwe, nga bwe balagibwa.
And at all the offering of burnt-offerings unto the Lord on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the appointed feasts, according to the number, and after the manner prescribed for them, continually before the Lord;
32 Awo Abaleevi ne bakolanga emirimu gyabwe mu Weema ey’Okukuŋŋaanirangamu, ne mu Kifo Ekitukuvu, nga bayamba baganda baabwe bazzukulu ba Alooni, okuweerezanga okw’omu yeekaalu ya Mukama.
And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.
