1 Dawudi bwe yamala okwezimbira embiri ze mu kibuga kya Dawudi, n’ategekera essanduuko ya Katonda ekifo, n’agikubira eweema.
David made himself houses in David’s city; and he prepared a place for God’s ark, and pitched a tent for it.
2 Awo Dawudi n’ayogera nti, “Tewali muntu yenna akkirizibwa kusitula essanduuko ya Katonda wabula Abaleevi, kubanga Mukama be yalonda okugisitula, era n’okumuweerezanga ennaku zonna.”
Then David said, “No one ought to carry God’s ark but the Levites. For the LORD has chosen them to carry God’s ark, and to minister to him forever.”
3 Dawudi n’akuŋŋaanya Abayisirayiri bonna mu Yerusaalemi, okulinnyisa essanduuko ya Mukama mu kifo kyayo kye yali agitegekedde.
David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the LORD’s ark to its place, which he had prepared for it.
4 N’ayita abazzukulu ba Alooni n’Abaleevi:
David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:
5 ku bazzukulu ba Kokasi, Uliyeri omukulembeze ne baganda be kikumi mu abiri;
of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred and twenty;
6 ku bazzukulu ba Merali, Asaya omukulembeze ne baganda be bibiri mu abiri;
of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred and twenty;
7 ku bazzukulu ba Gerusomu, Yoweeri omukulembeze ne baganda be kikumi mu asatu;
of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred and thirty;
8 ku bazzukulu ba Erizafani, Semaaya omukulembeze ne baganda be ebikumi bibiri,
of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred;
9 ku bazzukulu ba Kebbulooni, Eryeri omukulembeze ne baganda be kinaana;
of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty;
10 ku bazzukulu ba Wuziyeeri, Amminadaabu omukulembeze ne baganda be kikumi mu kkumi na babiri.
of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brothers one hundred and twelve.
11 Awo Dawudi n’atumya Zadooki ne Abiyasaali bakabona, ne Uliyeri, ne Asaya, ne Yoweeri, ne Semaaya, ne Eryeri ne Amminadaabu Abaleevi,
David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,
12 n’abagamba nti, “Mmwe bakulembeze mu nnyumba z’Abaleevi, era mmwe ne baganda bammwe mujja kwetukuza, mulyoke mwambuse essanduuko ya Mukama Katonda wa Isirayiri, okugiteeka mu kifo kye ngitegekedde.
and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, up to the place that I have prepared for it.
13 Kubanga mmwe temwagisitula omulundi ogwasooka Mukama Katonda waffe kyeyava atusunguwalira, olw’obutamwebuuzaako okutegeera nga bwe kyalagibwa.”
For because you didn’t carry it at first, the LORD our God broke out in anger against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”
14 Awo bakabona n’Abaleevi ne beetukuza okulinnyisa essanduuko ya Mukama, Katonda wa Isirayiri.
So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.
15 Abaleevi ne basitulira essanduuko ya Mukama ku bibegabega byabwe n’emisituliro gyako, nga Musa bwe yalagira, ng’ekigambo kya Mukama bwe kyali.
The children of the Levites bore God’s ark on their shoulders with its poles, as Moses commanded according to the LORD’s word.
16 Awo Dawudi n’alagira abakulembeze b’Abaleevi okulonda baganda baabwe okuba abayimbi, nga bayimba ennyimba ez’essanyu, nga bakuba ebivuga: entongooli, n’ennanga, n’ebitaasa.
David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up their voices with joy.
17 Abaleevi ne balonda Kemani mutabani wa Yoweeri, ku baganda be ne balonda Asafu mutabani wa Berekiya, ne ku batabani ba Merali, baganda baabwe, ne balonda Esani mutabani wa Kusaya;
So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;
18 ne baganda baabwe abaabaddiriranga nga be ba Zekkaliya, ne Yaaziyeri, ne Semiramosi, ne Yeyeri, ne Unni, ne Eriyaabu, ne Benaaya, ne Maaseya, ne Mattisiya, ne Erifereku, ne Mikuneya, n’abaggazi Obededomu ne Yeyeeri,
and with them their brothers of the second rank: Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.
19 ne Kemani, ne Asafu, ne Esani abayimbi abaalina okukuba ebitaasa eby’ebikomo;
So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of bronze to sound aloud;
20 ne Zekkaliya, ne Aziyeri, ne Semiramosi, ne Yekyeri, ne Unni, ne Eriyaabu, ne Maaseya ne Benaya baali baakukuba entongooli ez’ekyalamosi;
and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;
21 naye Mattisiya, ne Erifereku, ne Mikuneya, ne Obededomu, ne Yeyeri, ne Azaziya baali baakukulemberamu nga bakuba ennanga ez’ekiseminisi.
and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.
22 Kenaniya omukulembeze w’Abaleevi mu by’okuyimba, avunaanyizibwe eby’okuyimba kubanga yali mukugu mu byo.
Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the singing. He taught the singers, because he was skilful.
23 Berekiya ne Erukaana be baali abaggazi b’omulyango gw’ekifo essanduuko mw’ebeera.
Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the shofars before God’s ark; and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
25 Awo Dawudi n’abakadde aba Isirayiri, n’abaduumizi b’enkumi ne bagenda okwambusa essanduuko ey’endagaano ya Mukama okugiggya mu nnyumba ya Obededomu nga basanyuka.
So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring the ark of the LORD’s covenant up out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.
26 Olw’okubeera Katonda kwe yabeera Abaleevi abaali basitudde essanduuko ey’endagaano ya Mukama, baawaayo sseddume z’ente musanvu ne z’endiga musanvu nga ssaddaaka.
When God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the LORD’s covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.
27 Dawudi yali ayambadde olugoye olwa linena, ng’Abaleevi bonna abaali basitudde essanduuko, era ng’abayimbi ne Kenaniya eyali avunaanyizibwa okuyimba. Dawudi yali ayambadde n’ekkanzu eya linena.
David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.
28 Awo Isirayiri yenna ne bambusa essanduuko ey’endagaano ya Mukama nga baleekaana n’amaloboozi ag’essanyu, n’eddoboozi ery’eŋŋombe, ery’amakondeere, n’ebitaasa, era nga bakuba nnyo entongooli n’ennanga.
Thus all Israel brought the ark of the LORD’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with shofars, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.
29 Awo essanduuko ey’endagaano ya Mukama bwe yali ng’eyingizibwa mu kibuga kya Dawudi, Makali muwala wa Sawulo n’alingiza mu ddirisa, n’alaba Kabaka Dawudi ng’azina era ng’ajjaguza, n’amunyooma mu mutima gwe.
As the ark of the LORD’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
