1 Nzembo ya mobembo mpo na kokende na Tempelo ya Yawe. Natomboli miso na ngai epai na Yo, Yawe, oyo ovandi na Kiti na Yo ya Bokonzi kati na Lola.

A Song of Ascents. Unto thee do I lift up mine eyes, O thou that sittest in the heavens.

2 Ndenge miso ya bawumbu etalaka nkolo na bango, mpe miso ya mwasi mosali etalaka nkolo na ye ya mwasi, ndenge wana mpe miso na biso ezali kotala Yawe, Nzambe na biso, kino asalela biso ngolu.

Behold, as the eyes of servants [look] unto the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes [look] unto the LORD our God, until he have mercy upon us.

3 Yawe, salela biso ngolu, yokela biso mawa! Pamba te tolembi kotiolama!

Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

4 Tolembi penza kotiolama na bato ya lolendo mpe ya lofundu!

Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
