< Banzembo 114 >

1 Tango Isalaele abimaki wuta na Ejipito, tango libota ya Jakobi elongwaki na ekolo ya bapaya,
When Israel went forth out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of a strange language:
2 Yuda ekomaki Esika ya bule ya Yawe, mpe Isalaele ekomaki mabele na Ye.
Judah became his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.
3 Ebale monene emonaki yango mpe ekimaki, mayi ya Yordani ezongaki na sima,
The sea beheld it, and fled: the Jordan was driven backward.
4 bangomba epumbwaki lokola bameme, bangomba mike epumbwaki lokola bana ya ntaba.
The mountains skipped like wethers, the hills like lambs.
5 Ebale monene, nini ezalaki kati na yo mpo ete okima? Yordani, mpo na nini ozongaki na sima?
What aileth thee, O sea, that thou fleest? thou, O Jordan, that thou art driven backward?
6 Bino bangomba, mpo nini bopumbwaki lokola bameme? Bongo bino bangomba mike, mpo na nini bopumbwaki lokola bana ya ntaba?
Ye mountains, that ye skip like wethers? ye hills, like lambs?
7 Mokili, lenga liboso ya Yawe, liboso ya Nzambe ya Jakobi,
At the presence of the Lord tremble, O earth, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
8 oyo abongolaka libanga monene liziba, mpe libanga etima.
Who changeth the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water.
