< Masese 1 >

1 Masese ya Salomo, mwana mobali ya Davidi, mokonzi ya Isalaele:
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
2 mpo na koyeba bwanya, kozwa mateya mpe kososola maloba ya mayele;
For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
3 mpo na kozwa mateya ya bwanya oyo epesaka bizaleli ya sembo, ya boyengebene mpe makambo ya alima;
For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
5 Tika ete moto ya bwanya ayoka yango, mpe akobakisa bwanya na ye, bongo moto ya mayele akoyeba mayele ya kotambolisa bato;
A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 Kotosa Yawe ezali mosisa ya mayele; bato oyo bazangi mayele batiolaka bwanya mpe toli.
The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
8 Mwana na ngai ya mobali, yoka toli ya tata na yo, mpe kobwaka te mateya ya mama na yo;
Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol h7585)
13 tokozwa biloko ya talo ya ndenge na ndenge, mpe tokotondisa bandako na biso na bomengo ya bitumba;
All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
15 mwana na ngai ya mobali, kokende elongo na bango te, longola makolo na yo na nzela na bango;
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
18 Kasi bango, batiaka mitambo mpo na kosopa makila na bango moko, bamilukelaka pasi na bomoi na bango.
Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
19 Moto oyo alukaka kozwa bomengo na nzela ya lokuta asukaka kaka bongo, mpe bomengo yango ebomaka kaka ye moko.
Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
20 Bwanya azali koganga na libanda, atomboli mongongo na ye na bisika oyo bato ebele bakutanaka;
Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
22 « Yo moto oyo ozangi mayele, kino tango nini okolinga bozoba na yo? Kino tango nini batioli bakokoba kosepela kotiola? Mpe bino bazoba, kino tango nini bokokoba koyina mayele?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
23 Soki boyoki makebisi na Ngai, nakosopela bino Molimo na Ngai mpe nakososolisa bino maloba na Ngai.
Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
24 Kasi lokola bosundolaki Ngai tango nazalaki kobelela mpe moto moko te asalaki keba tango natandaki loboko,
Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
25 lokola bobwakaki toli na Ngai mpe boboyaki kondima pamela na Ngai,
But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
26 Ngai mpe nakoseka bino tango pasi ekoyela bino, nakotiola bino tango minyoko ekokomela bino,
I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
27 tango minyoko ekokomela bino na pwasa lokola mvula ya kake makasi, tango somo ekoyela bino lokola ekumbaki, tango mawa mpe somo ekokomela bino.
When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
29 Lokola bayinaki boyebi mpe baponaki te nzela ya kotosa Yawe,
Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
30 lokola baboyaki kondima toli na Ngai mpe batiolaki pamela na Ngai,
Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
32 Pamba te kotomboka ya bato oyo bazangi mayele ekoboma bango, mpe bozangi bokebi ya bato oyo bazangi mayele ekoboma kaka bango moko;
For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
