1 Tala bakitani ya Aron mpe ya Moyize na tango oyo Yawe asololaki na Moyize, na ngomba Sinai.
These are some of the things that happened to Aaron and Moses/me when Yahweh spoke to Moses/me on Sinai Mountain.
2 Bakombo ya bana mibali ya Aron ezalaki: Nadabi, mwana ya liboso; Abiyu, Eleazari mpe Itamari.
Aaron’s four sons were Nadab the oldest, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3 Yango nde bakombo ya bana mibali ya Aron, oyo babulisaki na nzela ya kopakola mafuta mpo na kosala mosala ya bonganga-Nzambe.
They were appointed [MTY] (OR, Moses/I appointed them) to be priests.
4 Nadabi mpe Abiyu bakufaki liboso ya Yawe tango bazalaki kobonza mbeka, na nzela ya moto oyo ebulisama te, liboso ya Yawe, na esobe ya Sinai. Batikalaki kozala na bana te. Boye Eleazari mpe Itamari kaka nde batikalaki kosala mosala ya bonganga-Nzambe na bokambami ya tata na bango, Aron.
But, while Yahweh was watching, Nadab and Abihu died in the Sinai Desert because they burned [incense] in a manner that was different from what Yahweh had commanded. They had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar were the [only] sons of Aaron who [were left to be] priests, along with their father Aaron.
5 Yawe alobaki na Moyize:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
6 « Yeisa libota ya Levi pene ya Nganga-Nzambe Aron mpe pesa bango na maboko na ye mpo ete basunga ye.
“Bring [the men of] the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron, in order that they may assist him.
7 Bakosalisa ye mpe bakosunga lisanga mobimba liboso ya Ndako ya kapo ya Bokutani, mpo na kosala misala ya Mongombo.
They will serve Aaron and all the other Israeli people, while they do their work inside the Sacred Tent and outside it.
8 Bakobatela bisalelo nyonso ya Ndako ya kapo ya Bokutani mpe bakosalisa bana ya Isalaele na nzela ya kosala mosala ya Mongombo.
They must serve all the Israeli people by taking care of all the things that are inside the Sacred Tent.
9 Pesa Balevi na maboko ya Aron mpe ya bana na ye ya mibali; bango nde kati na bana ya Isalaele basengeli komipesa mobimba epai na ye.
Appoint them to [help] Aaron and his two sons. I have chosen them from all the Israeli people to do that.
10 Tia Aron mpe bana na ye ya mibali pembeni mpo ete basala mosala na bango ya Bonganga-Nzambe. Moto mosusu oyo akopusana pene ya Esika ya bule, basengeli koboma ye. »
Appoint Aaron and his two sons to do the work that priests do. But anyone else who comes close to the Sacred Tent [to do that work] must be executed.”
11 Yawe alobaki lisusu na Moyize:
Yahweh also told Moses/me,
12 « Nakamati Ngai moko Balevi kati na bana ya Isalaele na esika ya bana mibali nyonso ya liboso, mbuma ya liboso ya libumu ya mwasi nyonso ya Isalaele.
“Note that from all the Israelis, I have chosen the men of the tribe of Levi to take the places of all the firstborn sons of the Israeli people. The male descendants of Levi belong to me,
13 Pamba te, bana nyonso ya liboso bazali ya Ngai. Tango nabomaki bana nyonso ya liboso ya Ejipito, natiaki pembeni bana nyonso ya liboso ya Isalaele mpo ete bazala ya Ngai, ezala bana ya bato to ya banyama. Nazali Yawe. »
because truly all the firstborn [males] belong to me. That is because on the day that I killed all the firstborn [sons] of the people of Egypt, I [spared] all the firstborn [sons] of the Israelis and set them apart for myself. I also set apart the firstborn [males] of your domestic animals. They belong to me, Yahweh.”
14 Yawe alobaki na Moyize kati na esobe ya Sinai:
Yahweh spoke to Moses/me again in the Sinai Desert. He said,
15 « Tanga motango ya Balevi kolanda mabota na bango mpe bituka na bango. Tanga bana mibali nyonso kobanda na ye oyo azali na sanza moko ya mbotama mpe koleka. »
“Count the male members of the tribe of Levi. Write down their names and the names of their clans and family groups. Count all the males who are at least one month old.”
16 Boye, Moyize atangaki bango ndenge Yawe atindaki ye.
So Moses/I counted them, just as Yahweh commanded.
17 Tala bakombo ya bakitani ya Levi: Gerishoni, Keati mpe Merari.
Levi had [three] sons, whose names were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
18 Tala bakombo ya bakitani ya Gerishoni, kolanda etuka moko na moko: Libini mpe Shimei.
Gershon had [two] sons: Libni and Shimei. The clans that were descended from them had the same names as those [two] sons.
19 Bana mibali ya Keati, kolanda etuka moko na moko: Amirami, Yitseari, Ebron mpe Uzieli.
Kohath had [four] sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. The clans that were descended from them had the same names as those [four] sons.
20 Bana mibali ya Merari, kolanda etuka moko na moko: Maali mpe Mushi. Bango nde bato ya bituka ya Balevi kolanda mabota na bango.
Merari had [two] sons: Mahli and Mushi. The clans that were descended from them had the same names as those [two] sons. Those are the clans that were descended from Levi.
21 Tala bakitani oyo babimelaki na Gerishoni: etuka ya bato ya Libini mpe etuka ya Shimei. Bango nde bato ya bituka ya Gerishoni.
The two clans descended from Gershon are those that were descended from [his sons] Libni and Shimei.
22 Motango ya mibali nyonso oyo batangamaki kobanda sanza moko ya mbotama mpe koleka ezalaki nkoto sambo na nkama mitano.
In those two clans there were 7,500 males who were at least one month old.
23 Bato ya bituka ya Gerishoni batongaki molako na bango na sima ya Mongombo, na ngambo ya weste.
They were told to set up their tents on the west side of the Sacred Tent.
24 Eliazafi, mwana mobali ya Laele, nde azalaki mokambi ya libota ya Gerishoni.
The leader of those two clans was Eliasaph, the son of Lael.
25 Na Ndako ya kapo ya Bokutani, bakitani ya Gerishoni bazalaki na mokumba ya kobatela Mongombo mpe ndako ya kapo, bizipelo na yango, rido ya ekuke ya Ndako ya kapo ya Bokutani,
Their work was to take care of the Sacred Tent, including the coverings of the tent, the curtain at the entrance of the tent,
26 barido ya lopango, rido ya ekuke ya lopango oyo ezingela Mongombo mpe etumbelo, basinga mpe biloko nyonso oyo bazalaki kosalela na basinga wana.
the (curtains/large pieces of cloth) that formed the walls around the courtyard that is around the tent and around the altar, the curtains that were at the entrance of the courtyard, and the ropes [for fastening the tent]. They also did all the work of taking care of the things outside the Sacred Tent.
27 Tala bakitani oyo babimelaki na Keati: bituka ya bato ya Amirami, ya Yitseari, ya Ebron mpe ya Uzieli. Bango nde bazalaki bato ya bituka ya Keati.
The clans that were descended from Kohath were those descended from his four sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
28 Motango ya mibali nyonso oyo bazalaki kobanda na sanza moko ya mbotama mpe koleka ezalaki nkoto mwambe na nkama motoba. Bato ya Keati bazalaki na mokumba ya kobatela Esika ya bule.
In those four clans there were 8,600 males who were at least one month old. The work of the men of the clans was to take care of [the things that are inside] the Sacred Tent.
29 Bato ya bituka ya Keati batongaki molako na bango pembeni ya Mongombo, na ngambo ya sude.
They set up their tents on the south side of the Sacred Tent.
30 Elitsafani, mwana mobali ya Uzieli, nde azalaki mokambi ya bato ya bituka ya Keati.
The leader of those four clans was Elizaphan, the son of Uzziel.
31 Bazalaki na mokumba ya kobatela Sanduku, mesa, etelemiselo ya minda, bitumbelo mpe bisalelo ya Esika ya bule oyo basalelaka mosala, rido mpe biloko nyonso oyo bazalaki kosalela.
The work of the men of those clans was to take care of the sacred chest, the table [on which the priest put the sacred bread], the lampstand, the altars, all the items that the priest used in the Sacred Tent, and the curtain that is inside the tent. Their work was also to take care of the things inside the tent.
32 Mokambi ya bakambi ya Balevi ezalaki Eleazari, mwana mobali ya Nganga-Nzambe Aron. Aponamaki mpo ete akamba bato oyo bazalaki na mokumba ya kobatela Esika ya bule.
Aaron’s son Eleazar was the leader of all the male descendants of Levi. He supervised all the work that was done at the Sacred Tent.
33 Tala bakitani oyo babimelaki na Merari: bato ya etuka ya Maali mpe bato ya etuka ya Mushi. Bango nde bazalaki bato ya bituka ya Merari.
The clans that were descended from Merari were those descended from [his sons] Mahli and Mushi.
34 Motango ya mibali nyonso oyo bazalaki na sanza moko ya mbotama mpe koleka, oyo batangamaki ezalaki nkoto motoba na nkama mibale.
In those two clans there were 6,200 males who were at least one month old.
35 Tsurieli, mwana mobali ya Abiyaili, nde azalaki mokambi ya bato ya bituka ya Merari. Batongaki molako na bango na ngambo ya nor ya Mongombo.
They were told to set up their tents on the north side of the Sacred Tent. The leader of those two clans was Zuriel, the son of Abihail.
36 Bato ya Merari bazalaki na mokumba ya kobatela biloko nyonso ya Mongombo, oyo basala na mabaya: balate na yango, makonzi na yango, makolo na yango mpe biloko nyonso ya mike oyo bazalaki kokangisela yango.
The work of the men of those two clans was to take care of the frames that held up the tent, the crossbars, the pillars, and the bases. They also did all the work that was connected with those items.
37 Bazalaki mpe lisusu na mokumba ya kobatela makonzi oyo ezalaki zingazinga ya lopango, bapike ya Ndako ya kapo mpe basinga na yango.
Their work was also to take care of the posts [that held up the curtains that formed the walls of] the courtyard, and all the bases, tent pegs, and ropes [that fastened those curtains].
38 Moyize, Aron mpe bana mibali ya Aron batongaki molako na bango na ngambo ya este ya Mongombo, epai wapi moyi ebimaka, etalana na Ndako ya kapo ya Bokutani. Bazalaki na mokumba ya kobatela Esika ya bule mpo na bolamu ya bana ya Isalaele. Moto mosusu oyo akopusana pene ya Esika ya bule, basengeli koboma ye.
Aaron and Moses/I and Aaron’s sons were told to set up their/our tents in the area in front of the Sacred Tent, on the east side. Their/Our work was to supervise the work that would be done in and around the Sacred Tent, for the benefit of the Israeli people. Only the priests were permitted to do that. [Yahweh declared that] we should execute anyone else who went near the tent [to do the work that the priests do].
39 Motango nyonso ya Balevi oyo Moyize mpe Aron batangaki kolanda mitindo ya Yawe, mpe bato ya bituka na bango, mibali nyonso kobanda na sanza moko ya mbotama mpe koleka, ezalaki bato nkoto tuku mibale na mibale.
When Aaron and Moses/I counted all the males who were at least one month old, who belonged to the clans descended from Levi, the total was 22,000.
40 Yawe alobaki na Moyize: « Tanga motango ya bana mibali nyonso ya liboso ya bana ya Isalaele, oyo bazali na sanza moko ya mbotama mpe koleka, mpe koma bakombo na bango.
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “Now count all the [other] firstborn males in Israel who are at least one month old, and write down their names.
41 Okotia Balevi pembeni mpo na Ngai, na esika ya bana nyonso ya liboso ya Isalaele, mpe bibwele nyonso ya Balevi, na esika ya bana ya liboso ya bibwele nyonso ya Isalaele. Nazali Yawe. »
Also, set apart for me the descendants of Levi to be substitutes for the firstborn males of the other Israelis. And set apart for me the livestock of the descendants of Levi to be substitutes for the firstborn livestock of the other Israeli people.”
42 Boye, Moyize atangaki motango ya bana mibali nyonso ya liboso ya Isalaele ndenge Yawe atindaki ye.
So Moses/I did that. He/I counted the firstborn males of all the Israeli people, as Yahweh had commanded.
43 Motango nyonso ya bana mibali ya liboso, oyo bakomaki bango bakombo, wuta na sanza moko ya mbotama mpe koleka, ezalaki nkoto tuku mibale na mibale na nkama mibale na tuku sambo na misato.
The total of those who were at least one month old was 22,273.
44 Yawe alobaki lisusu na Moyize:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
45 « Tia Balevi pembeni, na esika ya bana nyonso ya liboso ya Isalaele, mpe bibwele ya Balevi, na esika ya bibwele ya bana ya Isalaele. Balevi bazali ya Ngai. Nazali Yawe.
“Set apart the descendants of Levi to be substitutes for [the firstborn males of] the other Israeli people. The descendants of Levi belong to me, Yahweh.
46 Mpo na kosikola bana ya liboso ya Isalaele nkama mibale na tuku sambo na misato oyo baleki na motango ya Balevi,
There are 273 more firstborn males of the other Israeli people than of the descendants of Levi.
47 okokongola mbongo ya bibende, nkama mitano, kolanda ndenge batangaka mbongo kati na Esika ya bule, mpo na moto moko na moko. Mbongo moko ya ebende esengeli kozala na bagrame zomi na mibale.
To pay for these 273 males, collect five pieces of silver for each of them. Each of those pieces of silver must weigh the same as each of the silver coins that are stored in the Sacred Tent. Give this silver to Aaron and his sons.”
48 Okopesa mbongo oyo osikoleli bana mibali nyonso, oyo baleki na motango ya Balevi, epai ya Aron mpe epai ya bana na ye ya mibali. »
49 Boye Moyize akongolaki mbongo ya lisiko epai ya bato oyo balekaki na motango ya bana liboso oyo Balevi oyo basikolaki.
So Moses/I did that. He/I collected the silver from those 273 males.
50 Azwaki na maboko ya bana liboso ya Isalaele mbongo ya bibende nkoto moko na nkama misato na tuku motoba na mitano kolanda ndenge bamekaka kilo kati na Esika ya bule.
The total was 1,365 pieces of silver. Each silver coin weighed the same as each of the silver coins stored in the Sacred Tent.
51 Bongo Moyize apesaki mbongo yango ya lisiko epai ya Aron mpe epai ya bana na ye ya mibali, ndenge kaka Yawe atindaki ye.
Moses/I gave these silver coins to Aaron and his sons, as Yahweh had commanded.
