1 Yesu abotamaki na Beteleemi ya Yuda, wana Erode azalaki mokonzi. Na tango yango, bato ya mayele oyo bawutaki na este bayaki na Yelusalemi
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem,
2 mpe batunaki: « Mokonzi ya Bayuda oyo abotami azali wapi? Tomonaki monzoto na Ye kobima, yango wana toyei kogumbamela Ye. »
saying, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.”
3 Tango mokonzi Erode ayokaki bongo, motema na ye etungisamaki makasi elongo na Yelusalemi mobimba.
When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 Abengaki mpe asangisaki bakonzi nyonso ya Banganga-Nzambe mpe balakisi ya Mobeko; atunaki bango: — Klisto asengeli kobotama wapi?
So he assembled all the chief priests and scribes of the people, and inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
5 Bazongiselaki ye: — Na Beteleemi ya Yuda, pamba te mosakoli akoma:
They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet,
6 « Bongo yo, Beteleemi, kati na mabele ya Yuda, ozali solo moke te kati na bingumba ya Yuda, pamba te Mokonzi oyo, lokola Mobateli bibwele, akotambolisa bato na Ngai, Isalaele, akobima nde kati na yo. »
‘But yoʋ Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from yoʋ will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”
7 Bongo, Erode abengaki bato ya mayele na nkuku mpe alukaki koyeba epai na bango tango nini monzoto ebimaki.
Then Herod secretly called the wise men and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared.
8 Boye, atindaki bango na Beteleemi; alobaki: — Bokende koluka malamu mwana yango, na Beteleemi; tango kaka bokomona ye, boyebisa ngai mpo ete ngai mpe nakende kogumbamela ye.
He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word so that I too may go and worship him.”
9 Sima na bango koyoka maloba ya mokonzi, bakobaki nzela na bango. Bamonaki lisusu monzoto oyo ewutaki kobima na este: monzoto yango ezalaki kotambola liboso na bango kino ekendeki kotelema na likolo ya esika oyo Mwana azalaki.
They listened to the king and went on their way, and behold, the star they had seen in the east went before them until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.
10 Tango kaka bamonaki lisusu monzoto yango, batondisamaki na esengo.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
11 Bakomaki na ndako yango, bamonaki Mwana elongo na Mari, mama na Ye, mpe bagumbamelaki Ye; bongo bafungolaki mabenga na bango mpe babonzelaki Ye biloko oyo lokola bakado: wolo, malasi ya ansa mpe mire.
As they came into the house and saw the child with his mother Mary, they fell down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 Sima na yango, Nzambe akebisaki bango kati na ndoto ete bazonga lisusu te epai ya Erode. Boye, bazongaki na mboka na bango na nzela mosusu.
And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their own country by another way.
13 Sima na bato ya mayele kokende, anjelu na Nkolo abimelaki Jozefi kati na ndoto mpe alobaki na ye: « Telema, kamata Mwana elongo na mama na Ye; bokima na Ejipito mpe bowumela kuna kino tango nakoyebisa yo lisusu ete bozonga, pamba te Erode akoluka koboma Mwana. »
After they were gone, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Rise, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell yoʋ, for Herod is about to seek the child, to destroy him.”
14 Jozefi atelemaki, azwaki Mwana elongo na mama na Ye, kaka na butu wana, mpe akimaki na Ejipito
So Joseph rose, took the child and his mother by night, and departed for Egypt,
15 epai wapi awumelaki kino na kufa ya Erode, mpo ete makambo oyo Nkolo alobaki na nzela ya mosakoli ekokisama: « Wuta na Ejipito, nabengaki mwana na Ngai. »
where he stayed until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
16 Tango Erode asosolaki ete bato ya mayele bakosi ye, atombokaki makasi mpe apesaki mitindo ete baboma bana mike nyonso ya mibali ya mibu mibale kino na se, oyo bazalaki na Beteleemi mpe na zingazinga na yango, kolanda tango oyo bato ya mayele bayebisaki ye na tina na eleko oyo monzoto ebimaki.
When Herod saw that he had been fooled by the wise men, he was greatly enraged and sent men to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and in its vicinity who were two years old and under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.
17 Boye nde ekokisamaki makambo oyo mosakoli Jeremi alobaki:
Then what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:
18 « Makelele moko eyokani na Rama, makelele ya kolela makasi mpe ya matanga: Rasheli azali kolela bana na ye; aboyi kobondisama, pamba te bazali lisusu na bomoi te. »
“A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing, weeping, and great lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children, and she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”
19 Sima na kufa ya Erode, anjelu na Nkolo abimelaki Jozefi kati na ndoto, kuna na Ejipito,
After Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 mpe alobaki na ye: « Telema, kamata Mwana elongo na mama na Ye, mpe zonga kati na mokili ya Isalaele, pamba te bato oyo bazalaki koluka koboma Mwana basili kokufa. »
saying, “Rise, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child's life are dead.”
21 Jozefi atelemaki, azwaki Mwana elongo na mama na Ye mpe akendeki na mokili ya Isalaele.
So Joseph rose, took the child and his mother, and went to the land of Israel.
22 Kasi tango ayokaki ete Arikelawusi akitanaki na tata na ye, Erode, na bokonzi kati na Yuda, abangaki kokende kuna; kasi Nzambe akebisaki Jozefi kati na ndoto, mpe Jozefi akendeki kati na etuka ya Galile
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee
23 epai wapi avandaki kati na engumba Nazareti, mpo ete makambo oyo basakoli balobaki ekokisama: « Bakobenga Ye moto ya Nazareti. »
and came and dwelt in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled: “He will be called a Nazarene.”
