1 Sima na kufa ya Jozue, bana ya Isalaele batunaki Yawe: — Libota nini kati na biso ekokende liboso mpo na kobundisa bato ya Kanana?
And it came to pass after the death of Joshua, that the children of Israel asked the Lord, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites at the first, to fight against them?
2 Yawe azongisaki: — Libota ya Yuda nde ekokende liboso, pamba te napesi mokili oyo na maboko na bango.
And the Lord said, Judah shall go up; behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
3 Bongo bato ya libota ya Yuda balobaki na bandeko na bango ya libota ya Simeoni: — Boya elongo na biso mpo ete tobundisa bato ya Kanana, mpo na eteni ya mabele oyo epesamelaki biso. Bongo, biso mpe tokokende elongo na bino, na eteni ya mabele na bino. Boye, bato ya libota ya Simeoni bakendeki elongo na bango.
And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, and we will fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.
4 Tango libota ya Yuda ekotaki na bitumba, Yawe akabaki bato ya Kanana mpe ya Perizi na maboko na bango, mpe babomaki bato nkoto zomi, na Bezeki.
And Judah went up; and the Lord delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand; and they smote [of] them in Bezek ten thousand men.
5 Ezalaki kuna nde bakutaki Adoni-Bezeki mpe babundisaki ye. Balongaki bato ya Kanana mpe ya Perizi.
And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek; and they fought against him, and they smote the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
6 Adoni-Bezeki akimaki; kasi balandaki ye mpe bakangaki ye, bakataki ye misapi ya minene ya maboko mpe ya makolo.
But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
7 Adoni-Bezeki alobaki: « Bakonzi tuku sambo, oyo bakata bango misapi ya minene ya maboko mpe ya makolo, bazalaki kolokota biloko oyo ezalaki kokweya na se ya mesa na ngai. Sik’oyo, Nzambe azongiseli ngai makambo oyo nasalaki baninga. » Bamemaki ye na Yelusalemi, mpe akufaki kuna.
And Adoni-bezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered food under my table: as I have done, so hath God requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
8 Bato ya libota ya Yuda babundisaki Yelusalemi mpe babotolaki yango; babomaki bato ya engumba yango na mopanga mpe batiaki yango moto.
And the children of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and captured it, and they smote it with the edge of the sword, and the city they set on fire.
9 Sima na yango, bato ya libota ya Yuda bakendeki kobundisa bato ya Kanana oyo bazalaki kovanda na mokili ya bangomba, na Negevi, mpe na etando oyo ezalaki pembeni ya ebale.
And afterward did the children of Judah go down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the lowlands.
10 Bato ya libota ya Yuda babundisaki lisusu bato ya Kanana oyo bazalaki kovanda na Ebron, oyo kombo na yango ezalaki na kala « Kiriati-Ariba. » Balongaki Sheshayi, Ayimani mpe Talimayi.
And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron; [now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiryath-arba'; ] and they smote Sheshai, and Achiman, and Talmai.
11 Longwa wana, bapusanaki mpe bakendeki kobundisa bavandi ya Debiri oyo kombo na yango ezalaki na kala « Kiriati-Seferi. »
And he went from there against the inhabitants of Debir; and the name of Debir was formerly Kiryath-sepher:
12 Kalebi alobaki: « Nakopesa na libala Akisa, mwana na ngai ya mwasi, epai ya moto nyonso oyo akobundisa mpe akobotola Kiriati-Seferi. »
And Caleb said, He that will smite Kiryath-sepher, and capture it, to him will I give 'Achsah my daughter for wife.
13 Otinieli, mwana mobali ya Kenazi, ndeko ya Kalebi, abotolaki yango; boye Kalebi apesaki Akisa, mwana na ye ya mwasi, na libala epai ya Otinieli.
And 'Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, captured it: and he gave him 'Achsah his daughter for wife.
14 Nzokande, tango Akisa akomaki na ndako ya Otinieli, atindikaki ye ete asenga elanga epai ya Kalebi, tata na ye. Boye, tango Akisa akitaki wuta na ane na ye, Kalebi atunaki ye: — Olingi nini?
And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she persuaded him to ask of her father a field: and she alighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What aileth thee?
15 Akisa azongisaki: — Salela ngai ngolu. Lokola opesaki ngai eteni ya mabele kati na Negevi, pesa ngai lisusu bitima. Boye, Kalebi apesaki ye bitima ya likolo mpe ya se.
And she said unto him, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a dry land: give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.
16 Bakitani ya Keni oyo azalaki bokilo ya Moyize balongwaki na engumba ya banzete ya Mbila elongo na bato ya libota ya Yuda, mpe bakendeki kovanda esika moko na bavandi ya esobe ya Yuda, oyo ezali na sude ya Aradi.
And the children of the Kenite, the father-in-law of Moses, went up out of the city of palm-trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is at the south of 'Arad; and they went and dwelt with the people.
17 Bato ya libota ya Yuda elongo na bandeko na bango ya libota ya Simeoni bakendeki kobundisa bato ya Kanana oyo bazalaki kovanda na Tsefati, mpe babebisaki bango. Yango wana, bapesaki engumba yango kombo « Orima. »
And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they smote the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and devoted it. And the name of the city was called Chormah.
18 Bato ya libota ya Yuda babotolaki lisusu Gaza, Ashikeloni mpe Ekroni, elongo na mabele na yango ya pembeni.
And Judah captured Gazzah with its territory, and Ashkelon with its territory, and 'Ekron with its territory.
19 Yawe azalaki elongo na bato ya libota ya Yuda. Babotolaki mokili ya bangomba, kasi balongaki te kobengana bavandi ya etando, pamba te bazalaki na bashar ya bibende.
And the Lord was with Judah; and he took possession of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
20 Kolanda ndenge Moyize alobaki, bapesaki na Kalebi engumba Ebron. Mpe Kalebi abenganaki na Ebron bana mibali misato ya Anaki.
And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses had spoken; and he drove out thence the three sons of 'Anak.
21 Nzokande, bato ya libota ya Benjame babenganaki te bato ya Yebusi oyo bazalaki kovanda na Yelusalemi. Boye, kino na mokolo ya lelo, bato ya Yebusi bavandaka esika moko na bato ya libota ya Benjame.
And the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem, the children of Benjamin did not drive out; but the Jebusites dwelt with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem until this day.
22 Bato kati na ndako ya Jozefi bamataki mpo na kobundisa Beteli, mpe Yawe azalaki elongo na bango.
And the house of Joseph, these also, went up against Beth-el; and the Lord was with them.
23 Tango libota ya Jozefi etindaki bato ete bakende kononga engumba Beteli oyo bazalaki kobenga na kala Luze,
And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Beth-el: now the name of the city formerly was Luz.
24 banongi bamonaki moto moko kobima na engumba mpe balobaki na ye: « Lakisa biso esika nini tokoki kokotela na kati ya engumba, mpe tokosalela yo bolamu. »
And the watchers saw a man coming forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will show thee kindness.
25 Boye, alakisaki bango esika ya kokotela na kati na engumba. Mpe babomaki bato ya engumba yango na mopanga, kasi babikisaki moto wana elongo na libota na ye mobimba.
And he showed them the entrance into the city, and they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but the man and all his family they let go free.
26 Moto yango akendeki na mokili ya bato ya Iti mpe atongaki kuna engumba oyo apesaki kombo « Luze » oyo etikala kino lelo.
And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called its name Luz: this is its name unto this day.
27 Kasi bato ya libota ya Manase babenganaki te bato ya Beti-Sheani mpe bamboka na yango ya mike, bato ya Taanaki mpe bamboka na yango ya mike, bato ya Dori mpe bamboka na yango ya mike, bato ya Yibileayimi mpe bamboka na yango ya mike, bato ya Megido mpe bamboka na yango ya mike; pamba te bato ya Kanana batingamaki kaka kovanda na mokili yango.
Neither did Menasseh drive out [the inhabitants of] Beth-shean and its towns, nor Ta'anach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Yible'am and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; but the Canaanites succeeded to remain in this land.
28 Tango bana ya Isalaele bakomaki lisusu makasi, bakomaki kosalisa bato ya Kanana misala makasi, kasi babenganaki bango nyonso te.
And it came to pass, when Israel became strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but they did not drive them out entirely.
29 Bato ya libota ya Efrayimi babenganaki te bato ya Kanana oyo bazalaki kovanda na Gezeri, mpe bato ya Kanana bakobaki kovanda esika moko na bango.
Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; and the Canaanites dwelt in the midst of them at Gezer.
30 Bato ya libota ya Zabuloni babenganaki te bavandi ya Kitroni mpe ya Naaloli. Bato ya Kanana bakobaki kovanda esika moko na bango, kasi bakomaki kosalisa bango misala makasi.
Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; and the Canaanites dwelt in the midst of them, and became tributary.
31 Bato ya libota ya Aseri babenganaki te bato ya Ako, ya Sidoni, ya Ayilabi, ya Akizibi, ya Eliba, ya Afiki mpe ya Reobi.
Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of 'Akko, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Achlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Chelbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rechob;
32 Likolo na yango, bato ya libota ya Aseri bakomaki kovanda esika moko na bato ya Kanana oyo bazalaki kovanda na mokili yango.
And the Asherites dwelt in the midst of the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not drive them out.
33 Bato ya libota ya Nefitali babenganaki te bato oyo bazalaki kovanda na Beti-Shemeshi mpe na Beti-Anati. Boye, bakomaki kovanda esika moko na bato ya Kanana oyo bazalaki kovanda na mokili yango; kasi bato ya Beti-Shemeshi mpe ya Beti-Anati bakomaki kosala misala makasi.
Naphtali did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-'anath; and he dwelt in the midst of the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became tributary unto them.
34 Bato ya Amori batindikaki libota ya Dani mosika, na likolo ya bangomba, mpo ete balonga te kokita na etando ya polele.
And the Emorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain; for they would not suffer them to come down into the valley;
35 Boye, bato ya Amori mpe batingamaki kaka kovanda na Ari-Eresi, na Ayaloni mpe na Shaalibimi. Kasi tango ndako ya Jozefi ekomaki lisusu na nguya, bakomaki kosalisa bango misala makasi.
And the Emorites succeeded to remain on mount Cheres, in Ayalon, and in Sha'albim; but when the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, they became tributary.
36 Mondelo ya mabele ya bato ya Amori ezalaki longwa na Libanga ya Sela, elekaki na bangomba ya Akarabimi kino na likolo.
And the territory of the Emorites was from the ascent of 'Akrabbim, from the Rock upward.
