1 Tala libota ya Noa: Semi, Cham mpe Jafeti; bango mpe babotaki bakitani sima na mpela.
(This is/I will now give) a list of the descendants of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They had many children after the flood.
2 Bana mibali ya Jafeti: Gomeri, Magogi, Madayi, Yavani, Tubali, Mesheki mpe Tirasi.
The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 Bana mibali ya Gomeri: Ashikenazi, Rifati mpe Togarima.
The sons of Gomer were Askenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 Bana mibali ya Yavani: Elisha, Tarsisi, Kitimi mpe Dodanimi.
The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 Bakitani na bango nde bavandaki na bisanga mpe na bamboka ya pembeni ya mayi. Moko na moko kati na bango azwaki mokili na ye kolanda lokota na ye, etuka na ye mpe libota na ye.
Those sons and their families who were descended from Javan lived on the islands and on the land close to the [Mediterranean] Sea. Their descendants became tribes, each with its own language and clans and territory.
6 Bana mibali ya Cham: Kushi, Mitsirayimi, Puti mpe Kanana.
The descendants of Ham were Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.
7 Bana mibali ya Kushi: Seba, Avila, Sabita, Raema mpe Sabiteka. Bana mibali ya Raema: Sheba mpe Dedani.
The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
8 Kushi azalaki mpe tata ya Nimirodi oyo azalaki elombe ya liboso ya bitumba kati na mokili.
Another one of Cush’s descendants was Nimrod. Nimrod was the first person on earth who became a mighty warrior.
9 Azalaki mobomi monene ya banyama na miso ya Yawe. Yango wana, balobaka: « Mobomi monene ya banyama lokola Nimirodi na miso ya Yawe. »
Yahweh saw that he had become (OR, caused him to become) a great hunter. That is why people say to a great hunter, “Yahweh (sees that you are/has caused you to be) a great hunter like Nimrod.”
10 Bingumba ya liboso ya mokili na ye ezalaki Babeli, Ereki, Akadi mpe Kaline na mokili ya Shineari.
Nimrod became a king who ruled in Babylonia. The first cities over which he ruled were Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh.
11 Longwa na mokili wana, alekaki na Asiri mpe atongaki Ninive, Reoboti-Iri, Kala
From there he went [with others] to Assyria and built the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
12 mpe Reseni, engumba monene na kati-kati ya Ninive mpe Kala.
and Resen. Resen was a large city between Nineveh and Calah.

Ham’s son, Egypt, became the ancestor of the Lud, Anam, Lehab and Naphtuh,

Pathrus, Casluh and Caphtor people-groups. The Philistine people were descended from Casluh.
15 Kanana azalaki tata ya Sidoni, mwana na ye ya liboso, ya Eti,
Ham’s youngest son, Canaan, became the father of Sidon, who was his eldest son, and Heth, his younger son.
16 ya Yebusi, ya Amori, ya Girigazi,
Canaan was also the ancestor of the Jebus, Amor, Girgash,
17 ya Evi, ya Ariki, ya Sini,
Hiv, Ark, Sin,
18 ya Arivadi, ya Tsemari mpe ya Amati. (Mpe na sima, bato ya mabota nyonso ya Kanana bapalanganaki bipai na bipai.
Arved, Zemar and Hamath people-groups. Later the descendants of Canaan dispersed over a large area.
19 Mokili ya bato ya Kanana ebandaki wuta na Sidoni, na nzela ya Gerari, kino na Gaza; mpe na nzela ya Sodome, ya Gomore, ya Adima mpe ya Tseboyimi kino na Lesha.)
Their land extended from Sidon [city] in the north as far south as Gaza [town], and then to the east as far as Gerar [town], and then farther east to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim [towns], and even as far as Lasha [town].
20 Bango nde bazalaki bakitani ya Cham kolanda mabota mpe nkota na bango, kati na mikili mpe bikolo na bango.
Those are the descendants of Ham. They became groups that had their own clans, their own languages, and their own land.
21 Semi, kulutu ya Jafeti, abotaki mpe bana; azalaki koko ya Eberi mpe ya bakitani na ye.
Shem, the older brother of Japheth, became the father of Eber, and the ancestor of all the descendants of Eber.
22 Bana mibali ya Semi: Elami, Asuri, Aripakishadi, Ludi mpe Arami.
The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
23 Bana mibali ya Arami: Utsi, Uli, Geteri mpe Mashi.
The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 Aripakishadi abotaki Shela; Shela abotaki Eberi.
Arphaxad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber.
25 Eberi abotaki bana mibali mibale: moko, kombo na ye ezalaki « Pelegi, » pamba te na tango na ye nde bakabolaki mabele; mpe mosusu, « Yokitani. »
Eber became the father of two sons. One of them was named Peleg, [which means ‘division’], because during the time he lived, people on [MTY] the earth became divided and scattered everywhere. Peleg’s younger brother was Joktan.

Joktan became the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 Adorami, Uzali, Dikila,
Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28 Obali, Abimaeli, Saba,
Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
29 Ofiri, Avila mpe Yobabi. Bango nyonso wana bazalaki bakitani ya Yokitani.
Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All those people were descended from Joktan.

The areas in which they lived extended from Mesha westward to Sephar, which is in the (hill country/area that has a lot of hills).
31 Bango nde bazalaki bana mibali ya Semi kolanda bituka mpe nkota na bango, kati na mikili mpe bikolo na bango.
They are descendants of Shem. They became groups that had their own clans, their own languages, and their own land.
32 Wana nde bituka ya bana mibali ya Noa kolanda milongo mpe mikili na bango. Bato nyonso oyo batondisaki mokili sima na mpela babotamaki na nzela na bango.
All those groups descended from the sons of Noah. Each group had its own (genealogy/record of people’s ancestors) and each became a separate ethnic group. Those ethnic groups formed after the flood and spread all around the earth.
