< Deteronomi 20 >
1 Tango bokokende kobundisa banguna na bino mpe bokomona bampunda, bashar mpe mampinga ya basoda ebele koleka oyo ya bino, bobanga bango te, pamba te Yawe, Nzambe na bino, oyo abimisaki bino na Ejipito, akozala elongo na bino.
When you march out to battle against your enemies, and see horses, chariots, and a people more numerous than you, you must not be afraid of them; for Yahweh your God is with you, he who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
2 Tango bokobongama mpo na kokende na bitumba, Nganga-Nzambe asengeli koleka liboso ya mampinga mpe koloba na bango
When you are about to enter into battle, the priest must approach and speak to the people.
3 maloba oyo: « Oh Isalaele, boyoka, awa bobongami lelo mpo na kokende na bitumba mpo na kobundisa banguna na bino; boyika mpiko! Bobanga te! Bolenga te! Bozala na somo te liboso ya banguna na bino.
He must say to them, 'Listen, Israel, you are going to battle against your enemies. Do not let your hearts faint. Do not fear or tremble. Do not be afraid of them.
4 Pamba te Yawe, Nzambe na bino, akotambola elongo na bino mpo na kobundela bino liboso ya banguna na bino mpe kopesa bino elonga. »
For Yahweh your God is the one who is going with you to fight for you against your enemies and to save you.'
5 Bakonzi ya basoda basengeli koloba na mampinga: « Ezali na moko kati na bino oyo awuti kotonga ndako ya sika mpe avandi nanu kuna te? Tika ete azonga na ndako na ye noki te akoki kokufa na bitumba, bongo moto mosusu akoya kovanda moto ya liboso na ndako yango.
The officers must speak to the people and say, 'What man is there who has built a new house and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, so that he does not die in battle and another man dedicates it.
6 Ezali na moto oyo awuti kolona elanga ya vino mpe nanu abuki bambuma ya liboso te? Tika ete azonga na ndako na ye noki te akoki kokufa na bitumba, bongo moto mosusu akoya kozala moto ya liboso mpo na kobuka mbuma ya liboso na elanga na ye.
Is there anyone who has planted a vineyard and has not enjoyed its fruit? Let him go home, so he will not die in battle and another man enjoy its fruit.
7 Ezali na moto oyo awuti kotuna mwasi na libala mpe abali nanu te? Tika ete azonga na ndako, noki te akoki kokufa na bitumba mpe moto mosusu akoya kobala mwasi oyo ye atunaki na libala. »
What man is there who is engaged to marry a woman but has not yet married her? Let him go home so that he does not die in battle and another man marries her.'
8 Bakonzi ya basoda bakoloba lisusu: « Ezali na moto oyo azali kobanga to alembi nzoto? Tika ete azonga na ndako mpo ete alembisa te baninga na ye na bitumba. »
The officers must speak further to the people and say, 'What man is there who is fearful or fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, so that his brother's heart does not melt like his own heart.'
9 Bongo tango bakonzi ya basoda bakosilisa koloba na mampinga, bakopona bakonzi mpo na kokamba mampinga.
When the officers have finished speaking to the people, they must appoint commanders over them.
10 Tango bokokende kobundisa engumba moko, boyebisa bato ya engumba yango ete bamipesa bango moko na maboko na bino na kimia.
When you march up to attack a city, make those people an offer of peace.
11 Soki bandimi mpe bafungoli bikuke na bango, bokosalisa bato nyonso ya engumba wana misala makasi mpe bakosalela bino.
If they accept your offer and open their gates to you, all the people who are found in it must become forced labor for you and must serve you.
12 Kasi soki baboyi kosala kimia elongo na bino mpe babundisi bino, bobundisa engumba wana.
But if it makes no offer of peace to you, but instead makes war against you, then you must besiege it,
13 Tango Yawe, Nzambe na yo, akokaba engumba wana na maboko na yo, okoboma na mopanga bato nyonso oyo bazali kati na yango.
and when Yahweh your God gives you victory and puts them under your control, you must kill every man in the town.
14 Kasi bokoki kozwa mpo na bino lokola bomengo ya bitumba: basi, bana, bibwele mpe biloko nyonso oyo ezali kati na engumba. Boye bokosalela bomengo ya bitumba oyo ekowuta epai ya banguna na bino oyo Yawe, Nzambe na bino, akokaba na maboko na bino.
But the women, the little ones, the cattle, and everything that is in the city, and all its spoil, you will take as booty for yourself. You will consume the booty of your enemies, whom Yahweh your God has given to you.
15 Ezali ndenge wana nde bokosala bingumba nyonso oyo ezali mosika na bino, bingumba oyo ezali te kati na mokili oyo bokozwa.
You must act in this way toward all the cities that are very far from you, cities that are not of the cities of these following nations.
16 Kasi mpo na bingumba ya bikolo oyo Yawe, Nzambe na yo, akopesa yo lokola libula, kotika ata eloko moko te na bomoi.
In the cities of these peoples that Yahweh your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must save alive nothing that breathes.
17 Bebisa bango nyonso: bato ya Iti, bato ya Amori, bato ya Kanana, bato ya Perizi, bato ya Evi mpe bato ya Yebusi, ndenge Yawe, Nzambe na yo, atindaki yo
Instead, you must completely destroy them: the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, as Yahweh your God has commanded you.
18 mpo ete bateya yo te kosala makambo nyonso ya nkele oyo bango basalaka mpo na lokumu ya banzambe na bango; noki te okosala masumu liboso ya Yawe, Nzambe na yo.
Do this so that they do not teach you to act in any of their abominable ways, as they have done with their gods. If you do, you will sin against Yahweh your God.
19 Tango okobundisa engumba moko tango molayi mpo na kobotola yango, okoki kosimba epasola te mpo na kokata banzete ya engumba yango, pamba te okoki kolia bambuma na yango; kokata yango te. Boni, banzete ekomi bato mpo ete obundisa yango?
When you will besiege a city for a long time, as you wage war against it to capture it, you must not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them. For you may eat from them, so you must not cut them down. For is the tree of the field a man whom you should besiege?
20 Kasi okoki nde kokata banzete oyo oyebi ete ebotaka mbuma te mpo na kosala na yango bibundeli kino engumba yango ekokweya.
Only the trees that you know are not trees for food, you may destroy and cut down; you will build siege works against the city that makes war with you, until it falls.
