Abner had been strengthening his position among the supporters of Saul's dynasty during the war between those on the side of Saul and those on the side of David.
7 Nzokande, Saulo azalaki na makangu moko; kombo na ye ezalaki « Ritsipa, » mwana mwasi ya Aya. Bongo Ishi-Bosheti alobaki na Abineri: — Mpo na nini osangisi nzoto na makangu ya tata na ngai?
Saul had a concubine named Rizpah, daughter of Aiah. One day Ishbosheth accused Abner, saying “Why have you been sleeping with my father's concubine?”
8 Tango Abineri ayokaki makambo oyo Ishi-Bosheti alobaki, asilikaki makasi mpe azongisaki: — Boni! Ngai nazali moto ya mbwa na ngambo ya bato ya Yuda? Ngai oyo, na mokolo ya lelo, nazali kosalela bosembo epai ya libota ya Saulo, tata na yo, epai ya bandeko na ye mpe epai ya baninga na ye; ngai oyo nakabaki yo te na maboko ya Davidi, ngai nde sik’oyo ozali kofunda ete nasali mabe na tina na mwasi oyo!
Abner got extremely angry at Ishbosheth accusation. “Am I a dog's head siding with Judah?” he replied. “Right up to the present day I have been loyal to your dynasty—to your father Saul, and to his brothers and friends. I haven't betrayed you to David. But now you dare to accuse me of sinning with this woman!
9 Tika ete Nzambe apesa ngai Abineri etumbu ya makasi soki nasali te mpo na Davidi makambo oyo Yawe alakaki ye, na nzela ya ndayi,
So now may God punish me severely if I don't help David achieve what the Lord has promised him.
10 ete akolongola bokonzi na ndako ya Saulo mpe akotia kiti ya bokonzi ya Davidi kati na Isalaele mpe kati na Yuda, longwa na Dani kino na Beri-Sheba.
I will hand over the kingdom from Saul's dynasty, and help set up David's rule over Israel and Judah, from Dan to Beersheba.”
11 Ishi-Bosheti akokaki kozongisa ata liloba moko te epai ya Abineri, pamba te azalaki kobanga ye.
Ishbosheth didn't dare to say anything else to Abner because he was frightened of him.
12 Abineri atindaki bantoma koloba na Davidi: — Mokili oyo ezali ya nani? Sala boyokani elongo na ngai, bongo ngai nakosunga yo mpo na kosangisa Isalaele mobimba epai na yo.
Then Abner sent messengers to speak for him to David, saying, “Who does the country belong to anyway? Make an agreement with me, and you can be sure I'll be on your side to have all of Israel follow you.”
13 Davidi azongisaki: — Malamu! Nandimi kosala boyokani elongo na yo, kasi nasengi yo eloko moko: koya liboso na ngai te soki otindeli ngai nanu te Mikali, mwana mwasi ya Saulo, tango okoya kokutana na ngai.
“Fine,” David replied, “I'll make an agreement with you. But I have one condition: I won't see you unless you bring Saul's daughter Michal when you come.”
14 Bongo Davidi atindaki bantoma koloba na Ishi-Bosheti, mwana mobali ya Saulo: — Pesa ngai mwasi na ngai, Mikali, oyo nabalaki ngai moko na motuya ya bangenga nkama moko ya bato ya Filisitia.
Then David sent messengers tell Ishbosheth, son of Saul, “Give me back my wife Michal—I paid a dowry for her of one hundred Philistine foreskins.”
15 Boye Ishi-Bosheti atindaki bato kozwa Mikali epai ya mobali na ye, Palitieli, mwana mobali ya Laishi.
Ishbosheth sent for her and took her away from her husband Paltiel, son of Laish.
16 Mobali na ye alandaki ye na kolela kino na Bawurimi. Kasi Abineri alobaki na mobali yango: — Zonga na ndako na yo. Mpe mobali azongaki.
Her husband followed her to the town of Bahurim, crying as he went. Then Abner ordered him, “Go back home!” So he went home.
17 Abineri asololaki na bampaka ya Isalaele mpe alobaki na bango: — Lokola wuta kala bolingaka ete Davidi akoma mokonzi na bino,
Abner spoke with the elders of Israel and said, “For a while now you have wanted to have David as your king.
18 bosala yango sik’oyo; pamba te Yawe alobaki boye na tina na ye: « Ezali na nzela ya Davidi, mosali na ngai, nde nakobikisa bato na Ngai, Isalaele, na maboko ya bato ya Filisitia mpe ya banguna na bango nyonso. »
Now is the time to do it, because the Lord promised David, ‘Through my servant David I am going to save my people Israel from the Philistines and all their enemies.’”
19 Sima na Abineri koloba likambo yango epai ya bato ya libota ya Benjame, akendeki na Ebron mpo na koyebisa Davidi makambo nyonso oyo bato ya Isalaele mpe libota mobimba ya Benjame babongisaki.
Abner also talked to the people of Benjamin, and went to Hebron to let David know everything that the Israelites and the whole tribe of Benjamin had decided to do.
20 Mpe tango Abineri elongo na bato na ye, tuku mibale, bakomaki epai ya Davidi, na Ebron, Davidi asaliselaki bango feti.
Abner came with twenty of his men to see David at Hebron, and David prepared a feast for them.
21 Abineri alobaki na Davidi: — Na ndingisa na yo mokonzi, nkolo na ngai, nalingi kokende sik’oyo kosangisela yo bato nyonso ya Isalaele mpo ete basala boyokani elongo na yo; mpe na bongo, yo okokonza na bisika nyonso oyo olingi. Davidi atikaki Abineri kokende, mpe Abineri azongaki na kimia.
Abner told David, “Let me go immediately and summon all of Israel to come together for my lord the king, so they may make an agreement with you, and that you may rule over all you would wish.” Then David sent Abner safely on his way.
22 Sima na mwa tango, basali ya Davidi mpe Joabi bazongaki wuta na bitumba mpe bamemaki bomengo ebele ya bitumba. Abineri azalaki lisusu na Ebron te, epai ya Davidi, pamba te Davidi asilaki kotika ye kokende, mpe azongaki na kimia.
Soon after Joab and David's men came back from a raid, bringing with them a large amount of plunder. However, Abner wasn't there with David in Hebron because David had already sent him safely on his way in peace.
23 Tango kaka Joabi mpe basoda na ye nyonso bakomaki, bayebisaki Joabi: — Abineri, mwana mobali ya Neri, ayaki epai ya mokonzi; bongo mokonzi atikaki ye kokende, mpe azongaki na kimia.
When Joab and all the army that was with him arrived, he was told, “Abner, son of Ner, came to see the king, who sent him safely on his way.”
24 Joabi akendeki komona mokonzi mpe alobaki na ye: — Eloko nini oyo osali? Mpo na nini otikaki penza Abineri oyo ayaki epai na yo kokende? Mpe tala sik’oyo, akei!
Joab went to the king and asked, “What do you think you're doing? Here's Abner, who came to see you. Why on earth did you send him on his way? Now he's got clean away!
25 Nzokande oyebi malamu Abineri, mwana mobali ya Neri! Soki ayaki epai na yo, ezalaki nde mpo na kokosa yo, mpo na kononga mpe koluka koyeba bisika nyonso oyo otambolaka mpe makambo nyonso oyo osalaka.
You do see that Abner, son of Ner, came here to trick you, to spy on the movements of your army, and to find out everything you're doing!”
26 Sima na Joabi kowuta na ndako ya Davidi, atindaki bantoma mpo ete balanda mpe bakanga Abineri. Mpe wana Davidi ayebaki te, bantoma bazongisaki Abineri wuta na libulu ya mayi ya Sira.
When Joab left David, he sent messengers after Abner. They met up with him at the well of Sirah and brought him back, but David didn't know anything about it.
27 Tango Abineri azongaki lisusu na Ebron, Joabi abendaki ye na pembeni, na kati-kati ya ekuke ya engumba lokola nde alingi kosolola na ye na nkuku. Mpe kuna, mpo na kozongisa mabe na mabe na tina na makila ya ndeko na ye ya mobali Asaeli, Joabi atubaki Abineri mbeli na libumu, mpe Abineri akufaki.
When Abner arrived back in Hebron, Joab took him aside into the town gatehouse as if he was going to talk with him in private. But Joab stabbed him in the belly, killing him in revenge for killing Joab's brother Asahel.
28 Sima na yango, tango kaka Davidi ayokaki sango ya makambo oyo ewutaki kosalema, alobaki: — Na miso ya Yawe, ngai mpe bokonzi na ngai tozali na ngambo te mpo na libela na tina na makila ya Abineri, mwana mobali ya Neri.
When David heard about this later he said, “I and my kingdom are totally innocent before the Lord regarding the death of Abner, son of Ner!
29 Tika ete makila na ye etangama na moto ya Joabi mpe ya libota na ye mobimba! Tika ete ndako ya Joabi ezangaka te bato oyo bakobela bokono ya sopisi to bokono ya maba to bato oyo bakotambola na banzete to bato oyo bakokufa na mopanga to bato oyo bakozanga bilei.
May the guilt for his death fall on Joab and his family! May Joab's descendants always have someone who has running sores or leprosy or is crippled or who is killed by the sword or who is starving.”
30 Joabi mpe ndeko na ye ya mobali, Abishayi, babomaki Abineri mpo ete abomaki Asaeli, ndeko na bango ya mobali, na bitumba ya Gabaoni.
(This is why Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner, because he had killed their brother Asahel during the battle at Gibeon.)
31 Bongo Davidi alobaki na Joabi mpe na bato nyonso oyo bazalaki elongo na ye: — Bopasola bilamba na bino mpe bolata basaki, bosala matanga liboso ya Abineri. Ye moko mokonzi Davidi atambolaki na sima ya ebembe.
Then David ordered Joab and everyone who was there, “Tear your clothes, put on sackcloth, and mourn for Abner.” King David himself followed the body as it was carried to the grave.
32 Bakundaki Abineri, na Ebron, mpe mokonzi alelaki makasi na likolo ya kunda ya Abineri. Bato nyonso mpe balelaki.
They buried Abner in Hebron, and the king cried loudly at the grave, along with all the people.
33 Bongo mokonzi ayembaki nzembo oyo ya mawa mpo na Abineri: « Esengelaki ete Abineri akufa penza lokola zoba?
The king sang this lament for Abner: “Did Abner deserve to die like a criminal?
34 Bakangaki te maboko na yo na basinga, bakangaki te makolo na yo na basheni. Kasi okweyi ndenge bakweyaka liboso ya babomi. » Mpe bato nyonso balelaki ye lisusu makasi
Your hands were not tied together, your feet were not in shackles. But just like a murderer's victim, you too were killed.” All the people cried for him even more.
35 mpe basengaki na Davidi ete alia wana moyi ezali nanu. Kasi Davidi alapaki ndayi na maloba oyo: « Tika ete Nzambe apesa ngai etumbu oyo eleki makasi soki nameki kolia mapa to eloko mosusu liboso ete moyi elala! »
Then people came to David and tried to persuade him to have something to eat during the day. But David swore an oath, saying, “May God punish me severely if I eat bread or anything else before sunset!”
36 Bato nyonso bayokaki ndayi yango mpe basepelaki na yango: bazalaki kosepela na makambo nyonso oyo mokonzi azalaki kosala.
Everyone saw this and thought it was the right thing to do, in the same way that they thought everything the king did was the right thing to do.
37 Mpe na mokolo wana, basoda nyonso ya Isalaele mpe Isalaele mobimba bandimaki ete mokonzi ayebaki ata likambo moko te na tina na kufa ya Abineri, mwana mobali ya Neri.
That day everyone in Judah and throughout Israel realized that David had not ordered Abner's murder.
38 Mokonzi alobaki na basali na ye: « Boni, boyebi na bino ete mokambi moko mpe moto moko ya monene akweyi lelo kati na Isalaele?
Then the king said to his officers, “Don't you recognize that a commander and a truly great man has fallen in Israel today?
39 Na mokolo ya lelo, atako bapakola ngai mafuta lokola mokonzi, nazali na makasi te, mpe bana mibali oyo ya Tseruya baleki ngai na makasi. Tika ete Yawe apesa etumbu na moto oyo asali mabe oyo kolanda mabe na ye! »
I am weak right now, even though I'm anointed as king and these men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too powerful for me. But may the Lord repay the evil man according to the evil he has done.”
