< 2 Samuele 10 >

1 Sima na mwa tango, mokonzi ya bato ya Amoni akufaki, mpe mwana na ye ya mobali, Anuni, akitanaki na ye na bokonzi.
Some time later, the king of the Ammonites died and was succeeded by his son Hanun.
2 Davidi amilobelaki: « Nakotalisa bolamu epai ya Anuni, mwana mobali ya Naashi, ndenge kaka tata na ye atalisaki ngai bolamu. » Boye Davidi atindaki bato mpo na kobondisa ye na tina na kufa ya tata na ye. Tango basali ya Davidi bakomaki na mokili ya bato ya Amoni,
And David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent some of his servants to console Hanun concerning his father. But when they arrived in the land of the Ammonites,
3 bakambi ya bato ya Amoni balobaki na Anuni, mokonzi na bango: « Okanisi ete ezali mpo na kopesa tata na yo lokumu nde Davidi atindi bato mpo na kobondisa yo? Ezali mpo na kononga engumba mpe kobebisa yango nde Davidi atindi bango epai na yo? »
the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun their lord, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really believe he is showing respect for your father? Has not David instead sent his servants to explore the city, spy it out, and overthrow it?”
4 Boye, Anuni akangaki basali ya Davidi, akataki bango kati-kati ya mandefu, akataki bango bilamba kino na loketo mpe abenganaki bango.
So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved off half of each man’s beard, cut off their garments at the hips, and sent them away.
5 Tango bayebisaki Davidi likambo yango, atindaki bato mosusu mpo na kokende kokutana na bato wana, pamba te basambwisaki bango makasi. Mokonzi atindelaki bango maloba oyo: « Bovanda na Jeriko kino mandefu na bino ekobota lisusu, sima nde bokozonga. »
When this was reported to David, he sent messengers to meet the men, since they had been thoroughly humiliated. The king told them, “Stay in Jericho until your beards have grown back, and then return.”
6 Tango bato ya Amoni basosolaki ete bamikomisi bato mabe na miso ya Davidi, bakotisaki bato ya sika na mosala ya soda, oyo bakobanda kobunda bitumba na makolo: epai ya bato ya Siri ya Beti-Reobi mpe ya Tsoba, bato nkoto tuku mibale; epai ya mokonzi ya Maaka, bato nkoto moko; epai ya mokonzi ya Tobi, bato nkoto zomi na mibale.
When the Ammonites realized that they had become a stench to David, they hired twenty thousand Aramean foot soldiers from Beth-rehob and Zoba, as well as a thousand men from the king of Maacah and twelve thousand men from Tob.
7 Tango kaka Davidi ayokaki bongo, atindaki Joabi elongo na mampinga nyonso ya basoda ya mpiko.
On hearing this, David sent Joab and the entire army of mighty men.
8 Bato ya Amoni babimaki mpe batandamaki na milongo mpo na bitumba, na ekuke ya engumba mokonzi na bango. Na tango wana, bato ya Siri ya Tsoba mpe ya Reobi elongo na basoda ya Tobi mpe Maaka bazalaki na esika mosusu, kati na zamba.
The Ammonites marched out and arrayed themselves for battle at the entrance of the city gate, while the Arameans of Zobah and Rehob and the men of Tob and Maacah were by themselves in the open country.
9 Tango Joabi amonaki ete milongo ya bitumba ezali na liboso mpe na sima na ye, aponaki basoda ya Isalaele oyo baleki na mpiko, mpe atiaki bango na milongo mpo na kobundisa bato ya Siri.
When Joab saw the battle lines before him and behind him, he selected some of the best men of Israel and arrayed them against the Arameans.
10 Atiaki basoda oyo batikalaki na se ya bokonzi ya ndeko na ye ya mobali, Abishayi; mpe atandaki bango na milongo ya bitumba mpo na kobundisa bato ya Amoni.
And he placed the rest of the forces under the command of his brother Abishai, who arrayed them against the Ammonites.
11 Joabi alobaki: « Soki bato ya Siri baleki ngai na makasi, yo okoya kosunga ngai; kasi soki bato ya Amoni baleki yo na makasi, wana ngai nakoya kosunga yo.
“If the Arameans are too strong for me,” said Joab, “then you will come to my rescue. And if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will come to your rescue.
12 Yika mpiko, mpe tobunda lokola bilombe mpo na bato na biso mpe mpo na bingumba ya Nzambe na biso. Tika ete Yawe asala oyo ezali malamu na miso na Ye. »
Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and for the cities of our God. May the LORD do what is good in His sight.”
13 Bongo Joabi mpe basoda oyo bazalaki elongo na ye bapusanaki mpo na kobundisa bato ya Siri; mpe bato yango ya Siri bakimaki liboso na ye.
So Joab and his troops advanced to fight the Arameans, who fled before him.
14 Tango bato ya Amoni bamonaki bato ya Siri kokima, bango mpe bakimaki liboso ya Abishayi mpe bazongaki kati na engumba. Bongo, sima na Joabi kowuta kobundisa bato ya Amoni, azongaki na Yelusalemi.
When the Ammonites saw that the Arameans had fled, they too fled before Abishai, and they entered the city. So Joab returned from fighting against the Ammonites and came to Jerusalem.
15 Tango bato ya Siri bamonaki ete Isalaele alongi bango, basanganaki.
When the Arameans saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they regrouped.
16 Adadezeri atindaki bantoma kobenga bato ya Siri oyo bazalaki na ngambo mosusu ya ebale. Mpe bayaki na Elami. Tsobaki, mokonzi ya mampinga ya Adadezeri, azalaki liboso na bango.
Hadadezer sent messengers to bring more Arameans from beyond the Euphrates, and they came to Helam with Shobach the commander of Hadadezer’s army leading them.
17 Tango Davidi azwaki sango yango, asangisaki bato nyonso ya Isalaele, akatisaki Yordani mpe akomaki na Elami. Bato ya Siri basalaki milongo liboso ya Davidi mpe babundisaki ye.
When this was reported to David, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan, and went to Helam. Then the Arameans arrayed themselves against David and fought against him.
18 Kasi bato ya Siri bakimaki liboso ya Isalaele, mpe Davidi abomaki bampunda nkama sambo oyo ezalaki komema bashar mpe basoda nkoto tuku minei oyo babundaka bitumba na likolo ya bampunda. Davidi abetaki mpe Tsobaki, mokonzi na bango ya mampinga, mpe akufaki wana.
But the Arameans fled before Israel, and David killed seven hundred charioteers and forty thousand foot soldiers. He also struck down Shobach the commander of their army, who died there.
19 Tango bakonzi nyonso oyo bazalaki na se ya bokonzi ya Adadezeri bamonaki ete Isalaele alongi bango, basalaki kimia elongo na bato ya Isalaele mpe bakomaki kosalela Isalaele. Bongo bato ya Siri bakomaki kobanga kosunga bato ya Amoni.
When all the kings who were subject to Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel and became subject to them. So the Arameans were afraid to help the Ammonites anymore.
